My pig fence is undefeated and it made me lazy. Time to clean it up.
A look at my fencing for pastured pigs.
My toxic affiliate marketing:
amzn.to/3C4KdtA Zareba ESP5M-Z Fence charger. The price is up $50+ on these since I bought mine. Might be cheaper, better options now.
amzn.to/3PiWBsJ Fence cables with the alligator clips
amzn.to/3Poky1Z I think it's important to go with 14ga wire over the smaller 17ga wire if you expect deer in the area. I've used two 1/4 mile spools so far.
amzn.to/3PqpnYq Step-in posts were cheaper to buy locally.
amzn.to/3pifn98 LockJawz orange insulators. Good for weird situations but pricey.
amzn.to/3SOQiQv These pin-locking t-post insulators are what I like the best for standard situations. They're pretty expensive, too.

An update on my 36 chickens.
Raising pigs for the first time

I'm raising pastured pigs for the first time and this video is a summary of my experiences during the first two weeks.
Chickens love rain and baby barred rocks are insane
มุมมอง 21K2 ปีที่แล้ว
My chickens love being out in the rain because the worm hunting is easy. The baby chickens get a back porch to explore. Chip is a Bielefelder.
The baby roosters are here

My Barred Rock rooster chicks have arrived! I'll be growing them out as meat birds, but keeping one or two to join the egg laying flock as permanent residents.

A tree comes down and posts go up as construction continues on my chicken coop and run.

It's been a week since the dog incident and the girls are still doing ok. Progress on their run is progressing slowly but surely.

It's about time for these girls to start earning their keep. The chicks are now 16 weeks old and I'm hoping they'll start laying eggs soon.

Two of my chickens are dead following an attack by some neighborhood dogs.

I know this is an older video. But I really am enjoying them going through your older videos has been very informative.
One of those chickens is a bielfelder
I’m a farmer and enjoyed looking at your pigs wholeheartedly. 👍🏻
Cool series lol i went back and started from the beginning
God howd you get so many roosters
Nice intro 🤣
What happened to this channel?! Haven’t posted in a long time
Wet chicken feathers are annoying.
Love your banter! Curious how the Bielefelder worked out for you. I have 1 hen and she’s a bit heavier than the other breeds. Friendly enough to eat out of my hand, but no where near as delightful as my charming Ameraucanas. She also has a tough time with our NC hot summer. That gray bird looks like one of my Australorps out in the rain. Thanks for video!
just found this and that was awesome. i went once time with some friends from Oklahoma, i'm from mississippi, but we didn't see any. we walked a creek bed and could here them ahead of us but could never catch up to them.
That coop is too cute. I love it. Watch the dogs. They will kill, not for food but for the thrill. I have coons to battle. So many!
Those young roosters sound cute crowing as they haven’t developed a mature sound yet.

To dispatch a chicken use a pellet gun from a distance so the flock cannot see who did it. Then use cone decapitation for bleed out.
You're definitely a good worker JRB, that's a great attribute along with adoring animals. Thanks for the entertaining videos!
Got 12 chicks. Only one rooster in batch. Had to seperate from flock at 4 days old. Was attacking eyes of rest of chicks. Not just a peck but would go out of its way to attack, grip it by the eye, and hold it down.
Hush?
We have 4 week old barred rocks and your description of them is spot on!
She's at the bottom of the pecking orders. Feel bad for her.
I don't think the cat wants to play with those chicken!!!😂
What breed are your Lavender/Blue hens?
i bought at tractor supply 6 Orphingtons the sign said pullets ..im a new chick mama ...at what age can you be sure they are pullets an not roos they are about 4 weeks old from the way they look been checking on line ... if anyone can help me plz feel free to respond
Dinosaurs are not all dead. Take a good look at these chickens.
Those orpingtons will be great mamas one day.
Plymouth Barred Rocks are the best utility breed there is. Bielefelder is a cow of a chicken!
My 6 week old barred rocks love to fly out of theirs and climb all over me
It’s only what you think a chick is a chick
Have you tried to make any insulators with the printer yet?
In the fall/winter time, the fallen leaves act as cover for a whole trove of bug life that is trying to survive the winter. I'm guessing that's why they like it.
chokrens is chokenz
How is Chip doing now? Also, I noticed the bag of chick starter I bought today has really big granules as well! Thanks for the tip, I’m going to try and reduce it somehow.
Not dumb. Just doesn't want to go in
I've now managed to watch all your chicken videos & they're great, thank you! I have barred rocks & I think they're a handful, even though I usually hear they're quite docile & sweet. They have their moments, but... I wouldn't say that's their default mode. Fortunately, I like them anyway! Will look forward to an update at some point, I hope all is well with you & yours.
Cheap treat idea for ya. Ramen noodles cooked drained and cooled with cold water. They go bazerk over them.
They talk to you
My chickens started laying when they squat when you approach them. 18 -20 weeks
I guess it's time for a secure run. How awful them poor chickens are so traumatized
Name your lavender orpington Miss Molly
You need some black australorps very good chickens
There's nothing better than all them chicky chicks running to ya.
My mother always hung her chickens by the feet from the clothesline. This accomplished two things, first the chicken calmed down and two the chicken bled out well without flopping all over the yard. Good luck with your future butchering
I find it easier when I catch the roosters to be culled at night after dark put them in a crate, lot easier to grab them one at the time the next morning.
🤣
That smallest one looks like a she ...
What breed are these?? Looks just like ours
MOAR!
My wife and I have our first flock of chickens totaling 5 now and love our birds. So enjoyable for us. I thought I could one day eat one or 2 of them for whatever reason. But NO WAY. These are my girls and I love them all..
That's funny af. I'd love a bear rug. What would u shoot him with other than muzzleloader like u said in video
I have 2 barred rocks and a RI Red - looks just like yours! I'm a first-timer chicken mama and also first-time snow country resident. Who knew how expensive it would be to care for these feather-fluffs?! I bought an Aivituvin small coop set up (that was my first mistake, just the paint and waterproof flashing tape added another $100!) that now needs to have some sort of covering to mitigate the cold, snow, & rain. Plus, now that I'm feeding them organic Scratch & Peck, my eventual eggs will be "million-dollar eggs". P.S. I watched one video on processing broiler chicks & there is no way I could have that happen to my girls. LOL, us city slickers!
Too funny. Poor babies still seem to be traumatized.
