STEELY DAN-FM(NO STATIC AT ALL) REACTION
The video you watched has a huge flaw in the lyrics. These lines should read: "In different circles we keep holding our ground Indifferent circles, we keep spinning 'round and 'round and 'round" In the video, both lines start with "In different" which COMPLETELY changes the meaning of the second line. The line speaks to the fact that if we are "indifferent" to each other, nothing we say will matter - we'll be going 'round and 'round forever. Opposing viewpoints will never be appreciated and resolved.
Good music never dies
You talk too much. Listen to the song and save your comments until the end.
It’s BU2B lol Live version is one of their best performances in my opnion Geddy and Neil are killing it
UB2B live from Time Machine is a MUST listen. Powerful song and You will live Geddys base playing I’m glad you’re enjoying this Great band Church Boy! Cheers
Geddy Lee has two things he collects. Baseball Memoribilla (pardon my spelling) and Bass Guitars. I believe he says he has over 300 of them. His Baseball collection is "amazing."
It's a 3 piece band. The singer (Geddy Lee) plays bass and keys. The drummer (Neil Peart - RIP) wrote the majority of the lyrics to their songs, and Alex Lifeson is a phenomenal guitarist. Thank you for the review gents.
You're not slow - artistic license lyrics to convey a feeling of uncertainty, philosophy, confusion, and endurance, IMO.
The thing with understanding Rush songs is to live in the story. Their musical talent along with the lyrics provides synergistic imagery in ones thoughts that enables you to experience the concept of the song. Try not to focus on a guitar solo, or drum parts, or bass playing. Yes, their talent is legendary and an inspiration, but focusing on just that and you miss out on Rush music as a whole. In this song, the name of the car does not matter. Picture what they are saying. It is a time where motor cars are outlawed. The society is utopian and controlled which is why the young man must sneak through the fences to visit his uncle in the country. His uncles is obviously a non conformist which is why he is outside the fence. When he sees his uncle, they uncover the old car that is kept hidden due to the motor laws. The take it out for a drive and picture in your mind riding in the country air with the wind in your face and the thrill of breaking the law and riding in the forbidden car. Then the motor patrol comes after them, but they escape and hide the car again in the barn. After, they sit around the fire reminiscing of the old days. Understand the story and what is being portrayed and how the music enhances the story will give you an even greater appreciation of Rush.
Is that a fender b
Geddys bass?
Practice, practice, and more practice…
Muscle memory, according to Geddy…
2007-2009 Stage 3 Roush Mustang 427R, 63 split window stingray Vette.
Three “Virtuosos”…
See people don't realize that sometimes God uses you as his hand to administer Justice you are in the place that he puts you to do the things he needed done when he wanted them done at that moment now I'm saying no man is God but God does will his power through us and sometimes he follows the rule of an eye for an eye
Hey Church Boy, great vintage Rush! Yesss!!! Anyway the car is an Italian made sportscar. Oh, an BTW its pronounced: Barketta, the letter H is silent. Sorry Geddy.
Play and to sing those beast lines, that's GEDDY. Church Boy you have dam good chops.
Definitely have to do a reaction to the song called loosing it. The story is DEEP Church Boy😉
They orchestrated in the studio and played it until it was perfect. No need to signal.
THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD???? 😂😂😂. There’s no BEST country.
It is a song about the disease of nationalism. Einstein once called nationalism a childhood disease. He said it is the measles of mankind!
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but you are pretty much a badass bass player, yourself. Nice 5 string Fender, too!
He is playing a Fender Jaco Pastorius Jazz Fretless bass here. He never played much fretless, and the Fender people sent him one, and he liked it so much, he wrote this tune with Neil pretty much on the spot.
🤣❤ your RUSH excitement❤️🇨🇦
the guitar is a Dobro
RUSH knew the secrets of sound, they weave it like silk
I'm sure other Steely Dan fans are going to tell you that their lyrics are sometimes difficult to decipher. Just enjoy the music and their cryptic lyrics.
Would love to see your reaction to Headlong Flight! As a bass player...YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!! It is another example of Rush just doing something that people didn't expect to come from them. I was so surprised to hear such a driving "rock" song coming from my boyz!
Wish someone would bring back love songs,i think people were happier.Tired of these men just talking and grabbing their crock😊
Yeah man, RUSH has a car song.
Yes, that tone, from what I remember being from Geddy's Jaco Pastorius fretless bass. Sounds rich and deep.
Little boat!
homie is noob. but hes learning.
Did you slap bass that?
Neil Peart was always learning! He always felt he could improve. He traveled all over the world learning drums from different countries and incorporating these sounds into his music
Lead singer, bass player, synth player, all great, and all the same guy. Love your reaction. Welcome to my world 😊
I pictured it being the maroon one
Good song, good story. I'm a car guy too. My newest car is a 97 Mustang GT Conv 5spd. I've played this track with the top down and rowing gears. Not fast by todays standards, but visceral sound and fun as hell. I can relate
Neil always cited this song as one of his favorites to play live and was always "excited" when they all agreed to play it on a particular tour. Interestingly, following its inclusion on the 1982 'Signals' tour, it was dropped from their live set until 1990's 'Presto' Tour. Geddy had said he had to relearn the whole song as he had completely forgotten how to play it.
give yourself a treat and watch Neal's solo from Frankfurt. That is the definitive proof he is one of the best rock drummers, ever.
The bass player is singing too and the drummer writes the lyrics 😂
Geddy actually mispronounced Barchetta. The “ch” makes the “k” sound.
Why do you alway stop right in the middle of something cool? 😂
One of the most underrated Rush song. This was new sound at the time but when you listen it’s literally a step up in the complexity of the song the way it was put together. Great reaction Rush forever ❤
Good sir! Just discover your channel recently. I love your bass take! I'm a lifelong Rush fan (I'm 51),and you really help me appreciate Geddy and Alex and Neil even more. If you want to hear Geddy shine (again!) check out the live version of Closer to the Heart from Different Stages! 😎😁
Barchetta Italian for little boat, the ch is pronounced k.😊great job my friend my favorite band ❤️
Churchboy, Barchetta would be an Italian car if it were real, but it's a made-up name. "Muscle Cars" ended in 1973 when the government changed the rules for engines as a result of the oil embargo. There were horrible gas shortages here in America. Compression ratios went from 11:1 to 8:1, maybe 9:1. As a result horsepower output in most engines was cut in half. Performance in American cars didn't really recover until technology (fuel injection and spark controlled by microprocessors) rescued the horrible performance numbers in about 1997. My dad had a 1985 Monte Carlo. It wasn't an "SS', but I loved that car because it was beautiful. As a builder/owner of several "Muscle Cars" (1967 442, 1968 Hurst Olds) I promise you if you ride in a Monte Carlo from the late 1960's and compare that with a 1986 Monte Carlo, you'll choose the 60's version! P.K.
Try Camera's eye sometime. A very good Rush song.
Italian sports car :) Great tune. RIP Neil.
I had a black 85 monte ss fun car.. have always regretted trading it off.. .. as for this song.. one of my favorite rush jams.... always made me think of visiting people where as kids we would walk around the yards and sheds... always some cool old car from 40s-late 60s just sitting there covered in dust.. and the magick as you start wiping away the ages to see an old coupe.. see the chrome begin to shine.. and imagine yourself cruising in it
