.. Ya think? LMAO. Just the greatest drummer to ever pick up a pair of sticks! I think he needs to watch Neal's drum solo from Germany, what do you think? LOL
I LOVE to see those who weren’t exposed to this stuff when they were younger appreciate it now, especially when they have their own musical knowledge and talent! I also love how he memorizes the riffs and is able to play them himself!
Yes Mr Rob...he was the greatest drummer of all time. NOTE; Neil Peart can probably learn every drummer's parts....but not every drummer can learn/do what Neil has done. Never.
Welcome to Rush! Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada who had a 40 plus year career. Geddy Lee vocals, bass and Keyboards Alex Lifeson acoustic and electric guitar, mandola and later keyboards Neil Peart drums, percussion and main lyrist. He is considered one of best rock drummers of all time. Unfortunately Neil Peart passed from brain cancer in January of 2020. You need to watch them live! I Love the shocked and awed first time listening reactions of professional musicians to RUSH. I for one, laughed with delight at your reaction every time you paused it. I’m sure you’ve done some research, so you now know that the vocalist, bass player and keyboardist are all same amazing person: Geddy Lee. Thanks for showing the Love for the Canadian nerdy rock god trio. Be well, and take solace in the fact that RUSH has multiple albums full of awesome songs. As Ben Kenobi said to Luke Skywalker…”You’ve taken your first step into a larger world.” These three (not 5 or 6, which many people think are manifesting all the complex tunage) dudes will not disappoint you. As a RUSH addict, I’m jealous of what you’re about to experience.
As a bass player, I am always shocked when I encounter another bassist who has never heard Rush. Geddy Lee is on another level as a Bassist, and then he sings and plays keys all at the same time... Check out their instrumental La Villa Strangiato. Just amazing.
I was gonna say. You're gonna have to go back and listen again a LOT more times to catch up with us :) I wish more reactors would wind it back to enjoy parts that catch them by surprise like that.
More Rush please, greatest band of all time. Reatest drummer and bassist combo of all time. Greatest 3 piece band of all time. Hit the rabbit hole. There is way more of this from 40+ years. They are amazing live also, mesmerizing.
@@rushrules81 Got it. 1981 I was at Ft Bragg, Nc jamming my ass off to The Camera Eye, (such a freeeekin' magical, mesmerizing song), then Rush came to Fayetteville, NC (Molly Hatchet opener band, I caught their drummer's stick), it was my 1st Rush concert. Seen them 4 times total.
@@NASA-screwed-us awesome. Lucky enough to see them 5 times. Power Windows was my 1st concert in Providence, RI. I would've been about 15 by that time. I saw Triumph next.
Neil Peart wasn't the original drummer; John Rutsey was. When they auditioned for a new drummer and he showed up, Geddy Lee said: "So he comes in and introduces himself, and he's very animated," Lee continues. "He sets up his drums and … once he gets the kit tuned up, he sits on the throne and he starts playing triplets. And oh my effin' Lord - it was like machine guns. "I had this shit-eating grin on my face, and I was looking at [guitarist Alex Lifeson], and Al was getting a bit miffed at me because I was getting too excited too quickly. I had promised him that I wouldn't make any decisions until we both talked about everybody afterwards. I was supposed to have a poker face, but how can you have a poker face when Neil Peart is playing drums for you?"
Vocals, Bass, Synth, Moog pedals… all done by one man, sometimes singing, playing bass, and doing the pedals all at the same time. Geddy Lee is a master!
I just love when people like you, have just newly discovered just how masterful these three musicians are that I have enjoyed for 50 years. There music just never gets old!
Thanks for a legit reaction. I did not mind the pauses and re-wind to catch nuances in the playing. You have a good ear. You have been listening to one of the Best Drummers and Best Bass players in Rock history. You are at the entrance to a very deep rabbit hole. 3 Virtuoso's including a Bass / Drum section that have "one mind" Here are some recommendations of Live tracks to continue your journey and really see these great players in action Working Man - Live in Cleveland Xanadu - Live from exit stage left concert (Look for the Stick Hits version) If you are a bass player you will absolutely love "Leave That Thing Alone" - Live from time Machine Tour YYZ - Live in Rio For an amazing feature of the Drummer, Neil Peart, check out his Drum Solo video Live in Frankfurt.
Should get a look at them live. It is incredible that three guys can do all of that. Geddy Lee particularly- sings, terrific bass, synths with hands and feet. This song is typical Rush with a killer instrumental break in the middle in which all three of these incredible musicians GO OFF.
LMAO…,that “solid” drummer Neil Peart, is arguably the greatest in the history of rock! Imagine hearing this in 1981 at the age of 17…, mesmerizing. Geddy Lee is the vocalist, and also widely considered one of the greatest rock base players ever. Alex Lifeson plays the guitar, and is a virtuoso in his own right .
To me, Rush are the best: terrific musicianship, amazing time signatures and transitions, and profound and meaningful lyrics. Listen to The Spirit of Radio, Limelight, Subdivisions and Freewill for starters when diving into their rabbit hole - bring a lot of carrots with you. So many great songs.
Great reaction! If you are a musician, you will love Rush. Only 3 members create a wall of sound. For your next reaction, I would just finish this album Moving Pictures. Every song is a banger. Otherwise their more popular songs "Spirit of Radio, YYZ, Limelight or Subdivisions is a great way to go.
I just discovered your channel, I see that you know about musicianship... you just have no idea how mush you will love Rush... no idea lucky you... I would give so much to have the opportunity to discover Rush for the first time once again! 19 albums, 40 years playing together, very humble guys, three masters of their instruments... Geddy sing, plays bass, keyboards and foot pedals at the same time.. Neil a master percussionnist and Alex is a top guitarist, very heartfull sensitive play. No selfishness in this band. Look at Xanadu from the exit stage left gig... you will understand the chemistry in this band. Pure gold
You heard everything great about Rush in the first listen. Oh, boy! Are you going to have fun with this band. Wait until you see their live concert videos.
Funny watching someone listening to RUSH for the first time, when i have been listening to them since the early 70's, my favorite band and I would say top 5 in alltime rock bands, consist of Alex Lifeson guitar, in the alltime top 10 greatist guitarist... Geddy Lee bass, keyboards, and vocals in the top 10 alltime bass players... Neil Pert drummer and writes the great lyrics to all the songs top 3 alltime greatist drummer, the band was still playing until last year when sadly Neil passed away. they have so so many great albums and songs to listen to, enjoy.... MY SUGGESTION IS TO LISTEN TO "XANADU"
You just experienced, IMHO, the greatest drummer, guitarist and bassist ever. Individually. Put the three greatest together in a trio and you have the greatest rock/prog metal group in history. If the greatest bands ever are in the clouds, they are on the Moon! I rediscovered Rush (beyond the half dozen or so singles I heard on the radio back in the day) 2 1/2 years ago and now have 17 of 19 studio albums, and multiple live albums and videos. I spent tons of money and time upgrading my entire sound system just for Rush. I can barely listen to anyone else but them anymore. I'm just grateful I discovered their entire discography and how great this group is before I died. 53 years old when I rediscovered them, hopefully I have a few more years to continue to enjoy their music. I do regret not diving deeper into Rush decades ago and being able to see them live.
In my humble opinion, the best rock trio, to every grace a stage. They were true masters of their instruments. Drummer, Neil Pearl, may he, R.I.P. One of the greatest drummers to have ever pounded the "skins". He also wrote the lyrics, for over 90% of Rush's songs. Alex Lifeson is still one of the best, lead guitarists alive. Add Getty Lee to complete the trio on Bass, keyboards and lead singer. Had the privilege of seeing them perform live in 1980, during the Permanent Waves Tour. May I suggest the song, "Spirit of Radio", from the Permanent Waves album. Glad to see you have discovered and enjoy the "genius" that was RUSH!
Rush are a huge rabbit hole. 3 great musicians who were all well revered within their respective instruments fan bases. Tons of great rock guitarists, bass players and drummers have woodshedded to these guys. The song YYZ is a staple of theirs. They have a bunch really. Dig in!
Welcome to the greatest 3 piece band in history. If you want to know the drummer is, you can always ask your favorite drummer who his favorite drummer is. Or you can ask a metronome manufacturer how the ensure their units are accurate. More Rush please!
Here's a man that doesn't have to be told that Neil Peart is one of the greatest drummers of his generation, he can just tell. Great reaction. Try Subdivisions next.
I've probably witnessed close to 100 Tom Sawyer reaction videos and you by far enjoyed the he'll out of this song. Best Rush reaction video I've seen in some time. Lots more.
What is a treat is you sir. I love your reaction to the best drummer of all time. Only 3 members of this band tells you how proficient they are. Truly amazing!!!
I absolutely love Rush. Rush concerts were off the charts. I owned every album on both vinyl and CDs. They are one of the greatest bands ever. Definitely, check out their live performances. I had a friend who was a professional wrestler that used this song to enter the room. Neil Pert one of the best drummers ever. He also wrote several books about his travels.rip Neil😢 Great reaction ❤
Don't apologize for repeating anything in a RUSH song. Everybody does! All 3 of them are consumate musicians, known for incredible music, constant time signature changes, and thought-provoking lyrics. Drummer is Neil Peart, pronounced Peert, like ear 👂 with a t. Known as The Professor, for his drum skills. Also, the lyrics writer. Alex Lifeson on Lead guitar, Geddy Lee, vocals, bass and keyboards.
Working Man live in Cleveland, 2011. They are well into their 50s and killing it like they're 20. Seeing them perform live will only leave you with more questions. Like, How? How can 3 guys produce this much sound? How many arms and legs does Neil have back there on his enormous kit? How does Geddy sing, play the keys, pedals and bass throughout each song. What planet did Alex, his guitars and pedals come from? I can't wait for you to witness them live!! th-cam.com/video/fEZDFPsL50M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vg1CHXeNcKJe0jN0 This link is actually 2 songs, La Villa Strangiato and Working Man together. The closing songs of the show. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your reaction to this was perfect. Tom Sawyer was one of the 3 songs that started me on my Rush journey, many years ago. Some recommendations (trying for a bit of variety): - La Villa Strangiato (for the pure musical joy of it) - Digital Man - Red Lenses And a couple of “newer” ones: - One Little Victory - Headlong Flight
Wait until you hear one of their more complicated songs, like Natural Science or La Villa Stangiato, the musicianship of these three guys is incomparable, greatest band ever especially live. 😊🇨🇦
*No Bigger Rush Fan Than Me On The Planet (I'm Sure Millions Feel The Same Way About Themselves) & This Was The Track That Hooked Its Canadian Teeth Into Me In 1981. I Was A Little Familiar With PW (1980), But Tom Sawyer/Moving Pictures Immediately Obsessed Me To Consume All 7 Studio Albums That Preceded This One. 43 Years & 33 Concerts Later, I Still Believe It's The Greatest Song & Album They've Created. In My Opinion, They Were At Their Apex; Musical Complexity (Pre MIDI) & Musical/Lyrical Talent - Especially The Sound Of Pratt's Cherry-Wine Tama Kit & Percussion Ensemble Which Began Changing On Their Next LP, Signals (1982). Maybe It's My Bias Because 1981 Is When I Became A RUSHian Citizen, But Tom Sawyer May Be The Greatest Hard Rock Tune Of All-Time. Thank-You For Putting This Together.* *☆*
Rush is one of the if not the greatest trio EVER assembled. Alex Lifeson(guitar) , Geddy Lee(Bass, vocals, keyboards) and Neil Peart (percussionist) are ALL top notch musicians and they worked flawlessly together. RIP Neil and thank you.
There’s a video of them in the studio playing this song. Check it out. Neil Peart, pronounced Peert( RIPJan 2020) is the drummer and wrote the lyrics to most if not all their songs. You GOT TO SEE ONE OF HIS DRUM SOLOS.
This is one of the few songs Neil collaborated with someone else on the lyrics. Py Dubois who played with a band called Max Webster. Max Webster and Rush toured together a lot back in the day until Max Webster broke up. (Their drummer passed IIRC)
Great reaction!!! Rush is absolutely the best 3-piece band ever (quite frankly top five best band ever). Pure musicianship and artistry in each of them and their instruments along with the pure chemistry between them. Welcome aboard the Rush Train!!! I would suggest the songs in adding to your Rush journey and reactions. All of these are absolutely fire!!! I would also Recommend the Tom Sawyer official video from 1981...as this will show Geddy Lee playing Bass, Keys, and Vocals all for this song. - La Villa Strangiato - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental - custom "carnival" intro) - original was 1978. Pure musicianship!!! - Working Man... Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (original studio version was in 1974)...The pure sight and performance of three men in their upper 50's take control of the stage and perform and play like they were in their 20's. - YYZ…live from Rio in 2002 (instrumental)…original was 1981 - Xanadu...Live version 1981 Exit Stage Left tour...will leave you speechless from pure musicianship...original was 1977. - Freewill... Live from Snakes and Arrows Tour 2007 - original was 1980 - Best Intro Ever - Live version (R30 tour 2004) - various riffs from their 1970's songs leading into Spirit of Radio - original was 1980 - Limelight...studio version - original was 1981. - Closer to the Heart (Live 1998 Different Stages) - original was 1977 - Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982 - The Garden (Clockwork Angels tour live) - original was 2012 - Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982 - Fly by Night - original was 1975 - Leave that Thing Alone - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental) - original was 1993 - Malignant Narcissism and Drum Solo - Live 2008 Snakes and Arrows Tour - original was 2007 - Also...Neil Peart's Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt 2004. He was The Professor...a pure musician and percussionist...not just a "drummer". Be ready to be amazed by not just his hand coordination...but most of all his foot coordination...basically his feet being completely individual in timing from his hands during segments of this performance. He was the master of this technique.
🤗 Welcome to Rush dude! 😁 We knew as a 🎸 Bass Player you'd appreciate 🥁 The Professor in ways others don't. 😍 And don't ever feel bad about rewinding Rush Riffs! 🤭 We 4 decades in and still do that ourselves.... Still! 🥰🐰
This is such a classic song, and the three members are all extremely gifted on their respective instruments. Drummer Neil Peart (RIP) is widely considered one of the best rock drummers of all time. The lead singer, Geddy Lee, is also the bassist, and also plays keyboards and foot pedals, sometimes all at once! Guitarist Alex Lifeson (who is Geddy's best friend since they were both 13 years old) is an incredible guitarist; whose solos always fit the song and are very emotive. At some point, I suggest checking out the live performance of ''Where's My Thing/Here it Is' live from Dallas, which includes both a bass solo and a drum solo. The song charges full speed ahead the entire time and is exhilarating to watch. Also, Neil writes the band's lyrics, while Geddy and Alex write the music.
Congratulations on discovering my favorite band since 1976 when 2112 was released. The song you just reacted to, Tom Sawyer, is arguably their most famous. Before you dive too deep in the Rush rabbit hole I suggest listening to Spirit of radio, Limelight or Subdivisions (The drums on this particular song are outstanding). All three of these songs are from the early 1980's and were quite popular. Most of my personal favorites are pre 1980 especially an album called Hemispheres. I'm clearly showing my age, 66. Excellent reaction though, I really enjoyed it and what most Rush fans already know, how great these three gentlemen are.
Rush was the soundtrack of my youth. 3 maestros who compliment each other. The more you listen, the more complex nuances you discover in the music. I have seen them live several times, their farewell tour was incredible. The drummer is Neil Peart, he is always in pocket, also, writes most of the lyrics.
This band has an extremely deep rabbit hole , The bass player is the singer Geddy Lee , The guitar player player is Alex Lifeson , the drummer and lyricist is Neil Peart ,try his solo Neil Peart solo live in Frankfurt,
Welcome to the Rush rabbit hole… ❤ Neil Peart is your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer. Neil isn’t just locked in on time, but he accents what the other guys are doing. He makes what everyone is playing much much bigger. He is the GOAT. And stopping to re-listen is and will always be a Rush fan must do, “I gotta hear that again” is what we do… even after 40+ years as a fan, I still do it too. If you focus on one thing you will experience a whole different song, focus on the drums, you hear some thing spectacular. You focus on the bass… you hear something special. You focus on the guitar, virtuoso… you listen to the singing… a whole different story… that is why we still listen to Rush. Want you mind blown? Xanadu from Exit… Stage Left video… I’m sure I am not the first to say it, but I hope you watch it. 😊
You have now had a taste of the best band in the Galaxy. As a musician you will truly appreciate what they are doing. Try Limelight, Red barchetta, the trees, ( La villa strangiato..time machine tour, Cleveland). All are brain candy of the highest order lol!
Welcome to the world of Rush! 167 songs, 19 studio albums, and 40 years of live material to hunt down. Greatest three piece band to wander the face of the earth! 👏 Fun fact: This song was so difficult to get correct in the studio, that they nearly threw it out entirely! That's how dedicated these guys were. If the song didn't vibe the entire time, they threw it out. So nearly their entire discography has gold in all areas. Of course- music is subjective after all.. will be looking forward to more reactions. 😎
Even though Neil has played harder tunes,he openly said this song was his hardest to duplicate and get right and consistent. Was such a perfectionist. They all were/are.
Geddy Lee. Base, vocals, keyboards/synth, footpedals as well. Alex Lifeson, guitar and footpedals. Niel Peart, lyracist and 500 other percusion things! Best 3 piece imo ever. I recommend anything live.
Welcome to the best three piece band ever. Their music and lyrics stand the test of times...Also, IMO, the most humble guys in any band, focused on their growth and mind blowing compositions. Never gave a crap to what their record label wanted, what they wore or anything else. To me, this is a band I can relate to for their sincerity, awesome sense of humor and that they are down to earth folks. They have been known as "The musicians band", inspiring members of bands like Metallica, Tool, Dream Theater, Smashing Pumpkins, Race Against The Machine, and so many others you cannot believe. I have been listening on a daily basis, for the past 40 years to their undiscribable music and lyrics, helping to shape the person I am today.
Welcome to Rush. You got what they are all about in a first listen. Enjoy the ride-the Rush army will follow you along the way. Live performances are mind blowing!
Fell in love with RUSH In 1981 with the release of the Moving Pictures album, Tom Sawyer was the 1st single released. I was 13 and my m🎉ind was blown. Then to discover the older albums albums, 2112, Hemispheres, Farewell to Kings, Fky by Night and RUSH(1st album), yeah i was stoked. Saw their '91 Roll the Bones tour. Had a friend who could play alot of RUSH, good old times in high-school. You did miss an opportunity though if you would have watched the official video, which they don't block, you would have seen them performing in their studio that they have in Canada.
howdy from Texas. I saw my first reaction of yours to Rush a few days ago. Forgot the name of the song however I enjoyed your reaction. And now I see Tom Sawyer was your very first reaction to Rush. I see you have reacted to a good handful of their songs and I need go over your listing again to see if you reacted to 2112.yet. That song was my initiation / introduction to Rush in the Spring of ‘76. Needless to say blew me away! As you do your deep dive into Rush may I suggest 2 from their last album? Headlong flight, talking about a “rocker” of a song! And the last song on their last album Clockwork Angels - “The Garden” I won’t say anything about the song except it’s ultimately about Neil. I’ll let whoever comments to tell you about it if you react to it. Blessings
You would love watching the video for this, it was filmed at Le Studio (the recording studio where Rush did a lot of their albums, it was known as Rush's Abbey Road) and they focus a lot on their playing, that bass riff you loved, they focus on Geddy's hands as he's playing it, and you can really see Neil on drums and Alex's solo.
Love your reaction. Geddy Lee - vocals, bass, keyboards, Alex Lifeson - lead guitar,Neil Peart -phenomenal drummer & lyricist. Rest in peace Neil. Three élite musicians- one awesome underrated band. From Canada. Thank you
You’ll like The Spirit of Radio even more. Lead singer, synths and Bass player is Geddy Lee. Best Rock bassist period! A great instrumental by them is La Villa Strangiato.
Amazon reaction!! Welcome to Rush. Three of the greatest musicians ever, all in the same band!! The bass player is also the vocalist, Geddy Lee. The guitarist, Alex Lifeson. And...the drummer (the GOAT, in my opinion), Neil Peart( RIP). This entire album is epic. You should check out Limelight, The Camera Eye and Vital Signs. See what you think...
Geddy Lee is the reason I started playing bass in 1985. 3 of the best musicians to come from Canada and Neil Peart is widely recognized as one of the greatest rock drummers ever.
As a drummer I understand that bond between bass players and drummers. It is the highest compliment when a Bass player enjoys the drummers work. It was a absolute treat to watch this reaction and see your appreciation for my drumming hero, I hope you go down this rabbit hole because you will NOT be disappointed. Spirit of radio is another Rush songs with lots of surprises!
Geddy Lee on bass, keyboards, and lead vocals, Alex Lifeson on Guitar, The Professor who needs no introduction, the reason I started playing the kit back in 1977, ladies and gentleman I give you Mr. Neil Peart on the kit....Rest in peace Neil
Three of the most accomplished musicians that you could hope for in just one band. And Neil Peart Peart, the drummer and lyricist, was one of the most prolific song writers of our time. You might not see eye to eye on his religious beliefs, but his grasp of humanity was strong. They have been my three favorite people since 1981. The music of my life. ❤❤❤ *edit I make a this bold suggestion to you. Find out who these men are/were (RIP Neil💔) as human beings before you go more down the rabbit hole. Watch a documentary made in 2010, by the name of Beyond the Lighted Stage. It will give you a greater appreciation for this band. You'll see and hear stuff you of course haven't seen or heard yet, but down the road as you get through their catalog, you'll be able the reconognize what you see and hear in the documentary. *
always fun to see someone hear Neil for the first time. it makes me remember the first time i heard him and thought” what the hell did i just hear?!” and then you listen to more songs and it’s get better. unbelievable
First time watching.. I am impressed that the first time listening to Rush you picked up the key and rhythm.. especially Tom Sawyer. This new family of Rush fans you have found will ensure all your questions are answered. As a musician, I believe the drums are the steps we take, the contact with the ground, the hands on the hallway walls, the bass is the weight of that contact, the gravity, and the guitar is the grace of our movement. After a few listens, getting the awe of the music settled, check the lyrics,.. Rush has deep lyrics.. Welcome to the Rush Family! ✌️😎👍💕
There is nothing better on TH-cam than watching a musician listen to Rush for the first time. As a non-musian I love them and have from the start but to see people who understand music just fall in love with the sound is so satifying. Welcome to the club and prepare for a deep life long love affair with this band.
Rush was never stuck to formula music always changed each song is unique some early albums had some concept songs on them like 2112 later songs became more radio friendly in the 80’s by 90’s they went back to basics and became more grunge sounding last album Clockwork Angels complete masterpiece
Neil Peart considered the greatest drummer of all time you should watch his solo “ Neil Peart Drum Solo in Frankfurt “. Other Rush suggestions….” The Spirit of Radio “, “Freewill “, “ Closer to the Heart “ , “ YYZ in Rio “ ( instrumental ),” Limelight “, and dozens more!🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦

"That drummer is on point." might be the understatement of the century. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
.. Ya think? LMAO. Just the greatest drummer to ever pick up a pair of sticks! I think he needs to watch Neal's drum solo from Germany, what do you think? LOL
RIP to the Professor
Literally was about to post the same comment.
He'd love the LeStudio version.
“His timing is impeccable.” They say, “drummers use a metronome, a metronome used Neil Peart.”
Also, Many say, "Neil is Your Favorite Drummer's, Favorite Drummer!"
Bingo
Correct. The Professor will be greatly missed.

It warms my heart to see a grown adult musician experience the magic of RUSH for the 1st time. Welcome to our world my friend.
I LOVE to see those who weren’t exposed to this stuff when they were younger appreciate it now, especially when they have their own musical knowledge and talent! I also love how he memorizes the riffs and is able to play them himself!
Yup! Our world!
Neil Peart the Greatest Drummer to ever live!. Famous for his large kits and his incredible Drum Solos.
Yes Mr Rob...he was the greatest drummer of all time. NOTE; Neil Peart can probably learn every drummer's parts....but not every drummer can learn/do what Neil has done. Never.
He had the biggest drum set I’ve ever seen
Best in the world. Saw them twice. Truly blessed. RIP Neil

Welcome to Rush! Three master musicians from Toronto, Canada who had a 40 plus year career.
Geddy Lee vocals, bass and Keyboards
Alex Lifeson acoustic and electric guitar, mandola and later keyboards

Agreed, no need to apologize for pausing! I Love your reaction and insights.
There is SO much to take in.
Been listening to this for 40 odd years and I still go back 😁
Welcome to discovering the BEST band of ALL TIME my friend.
If Neil isn't your favourite drummer, he's your favourite drummer's favourite drummer.
Welcome to Rush. All that sound is 3 dudes. It's insanity.
Geddy is three dudes in one. Vocals, keyboards, bass- all at top notch level.

@@rushrules81 AAAHHHHH...OK THEN! You only go see 3 piece bands! Aaahhhh-haaaahh! Don't tell me...ZZ TOPP was ur next one? lol
Niel piert live in Frankfort. You have never heard drums till then. Working man from 1974 and 2013 in Cleveland, 40 years of growth.
Neil Peart wasn't the original drummer; John Rutsey was. When they auditioned for a new drummer and he showed up, Geddy Lee said:
"So he comes in and introduces himself, and he's very animated," Lee continues.
@baronvonsatan ya I couldn't remember Rutsey's name. Working man was on his last album Rush, I think. It still shows 40 years of growth.
@@mikejenkins9055 For who?
Neil Peart Your favourite drummers favourite drummer Possibbly the GOAT truly a Legend RIP and thank you for the music
This is one of my favorite Rush reactions ever. This is awesome LOL I love when people's mind get blown by the best band on the planet
Vocals, Bass, Synth, Moog pedals… all done by one man, sometimes singing, playing bass, and doing the pedals all at the same time. Geddy Lee is a master!
Subscribed for Rush. Saw them in concert 5 times from 1985 to 2015. Three hour shows, no opening act, no filler, all epic.
3 Virtuoso's including a Bass / Drum section that have "one mind"
Here are some recommendations of Live tracks to continue your journey and really see these great players in action
Working Man - Live in Cleveland
Xanadu - Live from exit stage left concert (Look for the Stick Hits version)
If you are a bass player you will absolutely love "Leave That Thing Alone" - Live from time Machine Tour
YYZ - Live in Rio
For an amazing feature of the Drummer, Neil Peart, check out his Drum Solo video Live in Frankfurt.
Should get a look at them live. It is incredible that three guys can do all of that. Geddy Lee particularly- sings, terrific bass, synths with hands and feet.
This song is typical Rush with a killer instrumental break in the middle in which all three of these incredible musicians GO OFF.
The best three piece band EVER- and Neil Peart on drums, RIP to one of the GOATS of rock drumming
Wait until you see them play live...
Not a lot of non-drummers catch the nuanced greatness of the drumming in this. Watching you experience this was an experience for all of us.
Rush only the best band in the Galaxy 🎶🎶🎶
I don't mind the pausing, I appreciate you actually listening to the music. Greatest band ever IMO.
Great reaction! Neil also wrote Rush’s lyrics!! RIP♥️
Neil pert drummer, even goes into 7/8 timing and back and forth flawlessly. He was a treasure!
RUSH=🐐🐐🐐
Rush are a huge rabbit hole. 3 great musicians who were all well revered within their respective instruments fan bases. Tons of great rock guitarists, bass players and drummers have woodshedded to these guys. The song YYZ is a staple of theirs. They have a bunch really. Dig in!
Love the 7/8 time signature in the solo.
Dive in. The catalogue of these three geniuses is deep.
You need to use a word that's deeper than "deep." LOL!
Welcome to the greatest 3 piece band in history. If you want to know the drummer is, you can always ask your favorite drummer who his favorite drummer is. Or you can ask a metronome manufacturer how the ensure their units are accurate. More Rush please!
dont forget zz top my friend
He also wrote several books about his travels.rip Neil😢
Great reaction ❤

This link is actually 2 songs, La Villa Strangiato and Working Man together. The closing songs of the show. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
More like 70’s!
I'm almost 60 and I'm pretty sure they were around 30 when I saw them twice in the early 80s
@@suzannebreen8555 Geddy and Alex were both 58, Neil was 59.
@@Fred-vy1hm i was referring to the decade :)
Your reaction to this was perfect. Tom Sawyer was one of the 3 songs that started me on my Rush journey, many years ago. Some recommendations (trying for a bit of variety):
- La Villa Strangiato (for the pure musical joy of it)
- Digital Man
- Red Lenses
And a couple of “newer” ones:
- One Little Victory
- Headlong Flight
Neil is "The Professor" for a reason! RIP🙏🐶😎🇺🇸
- YYZ…live from Rio in 2002 (instrumental)…original was 1981
- Xanadu...Live version 1981 Exit Stage Left tour...will leave you speechless from pure musicianship...original was 1977.
- Freewill... Live from Snakes and Arrows Tour 2007 - original was 1980
- Best Intro Ever - Live version (R30 tour 2004) - various riffs from their 1970's songs leading into Spirit of Radio - original was 1980
- Limelight...studio version - original was 1981.
- Closer to the Heart (Live 1998 Different Stages) - original was 1977
- Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982
- The Garden (Clockwork Angels tour live) - original was 2012 - Subdivisions...studio version or live version - original was 1982
- Fly by Night - original was 1975
- Leave that Thing Alone - Live in Cleveland from 2011 Time Machine Tour (Instrumental) - original was 1993
- Malignant Narcissism and Drum Solo - Live 2008 Snakes and Arrows Tour - original was 2007
- Also...Neil Peart's Drum Solo Live from Frankfurt 2004.
Still! 🥰🐰
The professor Neil Peart. Your favorite drummers favorite drummer.
8:42 lead singer, Geddy Lee, was playing bass.
GOAT drummer Neir Peart. He was likely your favorite drummer's favorite drummer.
Gone too soon.
This band has an extremely deep rabbit hole , The bass player is the singer Geddy Lee , The guitar player player is Alex Lifeson , the drummer and lyricist is Neil Peart ,try his solo Neil Peart solo live in Frankfurt,
Welcome to the Rush rabbit hole… ❤
Neil Peart is your favorite drummer’s favorite drummer.
Fun fact: This song was so difficult to get correct in the studio, that they nearly threw it out entirely!
You are listening to the greatest drummer to ever live in my opinion and many others. Pure Genius!!
"The Spirit of Radio", "Limelight", and "Red Barchetta" ... eargasms!
And the last song on their last album Clockwork Angels - “The Garden”
I won’t say anything about the song except it’s ultimately about Neil.
Thank you
Geddy Lee, vocals, bass,keyboards…..Alex Lifeson guitar, Neil Peart, drummer and wrote all the lyrics for Rush songs. R.I.P. Neil we miss you🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
You’ll like The Spirit of Radio even more.
Couldn’t have said it any better
Listening to rush is a treat!
Rush is in a class all by themselves! Never missed a concert of theirs in my town since 1984 to their retirement 2015. RIP Neil Peart
This is one of those songs, where the talent of everyone involved is just so obvious.
RIP to ' The Profesor'..... Mr Neil Peart, in my opinion, one of the three best rock's drummers in all rock history!
Peart, Bonham and...
Geddy Lee is the reason I started playing bass in 1985. 3 of the best musicians to come from Canada and Neil Peart is widely recognized as one of the greatest rock drummers ever.
Dude! You're solid, picking up the tune on the fly.
Absolutely no apologies needed when enjoying a Rush song. Thank you sir for playing this and welcome to Rush.
Xanadu ......... is a must live from exit stage left Toronto.
And Neil's solo from frankfurt Germany ......
YYZ in Rio is epic as well. The crowd is NUTS!
YYZ in Rio is amazing and tight.
That drummer Neil Peart, aka “The professor” was also the main lyricist, Geddy Lee, Bass, Vocals and keyboards, Alex Liefson, guitarist
*edit
I make a this bold suggestion to you.
Wait until he finds out the bass player is also singing the song haha
always fun to see someone hear Neil for the first time. it makes me remember the first time i heard him and thought” what the hell did i just hear?!” and then you listen to more songs and it’s get better. unbelievable
That drummer. Greatest of all time
There is nothing better on TH-cam than watching a musician listen to Rush for the first time. As a non-musian I love them and have from the start but to see people who understand music just fall in love with the sound is so satifying. Welcome to the club and prepare for a deep life long love affair with this band.
I love to hear musicians marvel at how often they switch between timing. 4/4, 3/4 etc.
It was truly a blessing and a privilege to see them live. Seeing Neil Peart play the drums live was a spiritual experience. Rest In Paradise Professor
Rush was never stuck to formula music always changed each song is unique some early albums had some concept songs on them like 2112 later songs became more radio friendly in the 80’s by 90’s they went back to basics and became more grunge sounding last album Clockwork Angels complete masterpiece
Love your love for this song!
