    In my experience, you should not come to korea for a job jnless you havd a nestegg built up and can let it grow in the US or other market jobs here pay quite low, work hours are long with litt,e chance for overtime, and there is no real retirement saving plans where employers match contributions. Est you get is one month pay for 1 year worked , so you work for 10 years you get 10 mo th pay. This money is not invested, so it does not grow with time. I am sure there are some exceptions but retirement is tough for koreans, hence 40% elderly poverty rate, high suicide, and high job stress. There will be 40 people applying fof 1 job. Most people are too houng to think about retirement, but building up some investments early will reap dividends later. If you have a trust fund or unusually high paying job then this does not apply to you and you can experiment with jobs in korea. Do not think you can take a sick days or a 3 week vacation. Unheard of except for the lucky few. Labor laws are no existant. If they want you gone they will not fire you but make your life hell until you quit. A firing has to be reported to the government and reflects bad on the company, so they push you to quit, never directly fire you. Some people do well but not many. Working for an international company a far better decision than working for a korean company. English teaching jobs are dissappearing, AI and very few children. Having said all this, learn korean if you want to be sucessful here, get at least to intermediate level, your experience and opportunities will be far better.

      Check their main industries and then check for statistics on open vacancies vs number of local graduates in those filds, and you will know what to study. My advice to you, think very carefully, do you really want to live and work there? You will be treated like c...ap there, not in your face, but you will be trated like that. Discrimination, lack of support from government, etc.

    I have read that you need to have the visa before you can apply for the job. But if the visa requires sponsorship from a job, how is that possible? Thanks!

    • @CamilleBlais
      @CamilleBlais 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the case of an E7, the employer needs to apply for the visa together with you. The reason why some jobs will say that you need an valid working visa to apply is because they don't want to risk a new immigrant not being approved for a visa and would rather take someone who's already proven they are qualified. Alternatively, they may say you already need a valid work visa (meaning something like an F-class visa) because they are not eligible to sponsor work visas directly. I hope this helps!

    One thing constant in life is change. While the change is taking place, you will feel lonely, abandoned, or even rejected by a part of your life you invested so much. As you find familiarity and niche in the next chapter of your life, you will look back and realize how much you have grown as an person. Next time, you're about to make another major change in your life, you will realize "this isn't too hard. I've done this before." Now, you are finding more about your true self.

    Change is definitely in the air. I remember graduating in the pandemic and finding all your interview tips for getting a hagwon job. Its been two years for me in Korea, and I can proudly say that I did it, and I'm done. Teaching English has been a crazy experience for me here in this country, and I can't help but feel like I'm giving up. But after further self-reflection, I too feel the same pull to other places to grow in uncomfortable situations. I know that I'll regularly visit Korea in the future, but living here as shown me that I can live abroad, and there is so much of the world left to see. I'm excited to see where our journies take us!
