How and where do you plug the steering wheel and the pedals?
Those look like 12V wiper motors. I suppose those are a bit stronger though. Currently i'm still in the process of making my own pedals.
Hi, well they are 12v but way more powerful than wiper motors. i actually did a series on using wiper motors too. but these are 12v crab pot puller motors available on ebay.
@@DMAX_DIY Thank you for that info.
Amazing
Hi dave can you give me the link to the wiring diagram for three motors, i cant for the life of me find it on xsimulator?! i can only find the diagram for two. Also one more question does each motor need its own power supply as the diagram shows one but then your videos have two... many thanks! keep up the great videos its really helping me build my own project
just email me at max.motion.simulator@gmail.com and ill attach the 3 motor diagram dave
Muito legal teu projeto, Parabéns, tenho bastante vontade de fazer um pra mim, depois desse vídeo acho que vou começar!
Would you consider making a video compilation with people's motion rigs that have followed your instructions?
Yes I would. There are a few that I know of and have seen. In fact a few race with me on the weekend. But getting other to send me action videos is difficult. But yes, I would put together a compilation if I had more video from guys. Good suggestion. I will ask people to send me something on my next video.. Dave
Thanks a lot for sharing your videos!! I'm planning to build my own and you give a lot of good tips. I have just bough the motors! ;) Keep on going! D Max!!!
Good deal! I will be posting some more in 2025 for sure.. Just had to pause for a bit..
I wondered what your thoughts were on a 12v setup? Im just adding stuff to my basket for a 12v motor and I was thinking will i wish i went 24v?
Don't listen to anyone who says your video is unwatchable, they can kick rocks! Thank you so much for taking the time and making such a detailed video. I'm about to start my build and I appreciate this very much 👍
thank you D Max
Cost?
one thing i dont like is the sound of the motors. they sound horrible. But damn i would love to build something like that
the motor sound is one thing i definitely do not hear when I'm driving. maybe some squeaking from the v3 pedals but i have those earbuds which probably drown out other sounds when racing.
Dude can build a complicated 3dof simrig and programmed them , but is struggling to do a live :)
not sure what you mean .. do a live? what does that mean?
@@DMAX_DIY I was finding it funny that you could build all those complicated stuff but struggle to set up a live streaming program. 7:18 haha
@@whatisyour8Name oh.. ok.. thanks.. Yeah just too much to keep up with. i barely get time on my rig just to race as it is.. 🤩

thank you for useful video
Pleas i need a dmax controller. I am from Austria ..
Thanks.. I did give it away eariler this year. I'll probably be posting more videos in 2025 .. Thanks for watching
Hi
Hey can this work with ps5?
9:19 hey Dmax! i've been trying to find where you said the size of that bolt there, and i just can't find it. what bolt size fits in the inner hole of the jazzy wheelchair motors? thank you:)
Hey Dave, I just found all your videos and I tip my hat to you. Your videos are great and very useful. I wanted to ask your opinion on one thing though. What sort of feeling or sensation do you lose if you didn’t have the traction loss? I want to make one of these but I’m weighing the option of the traction loss motor. Does it make more difference if you are using VR? If you weren’t using VR does it add to the experience still? Thank you for your time
Thanks for your videos, they have inspired me to try to build my own motion sim. I have these same Jazzy motors and I am really struggling to come up with an arm due to the keyway. What did you use for your arm? Is that mind steel? How thick? Thanks. I purchased these after watching your video but it looks like you changed to different motors later?
DMAX CONTROLLER
What power supply did you end up using?
I'm still using the 12 volt truck battery.. at least for the last six months on this rig. and the same battery since 2020.. so.. I'm going to be building a new rig for 2025 and will try using some server power supplies for that like I planned to do. just have not had time yet.. Dave
DMAX CONTROLLER!!
great video its inspired me to give it a go thank you
🔥
Your videos are fantastic! Thank you!!!
Thanks my friend.. I hope to make a new series of videos pretty soon.. taking a break..
i just did parade laps during the vintage motorcycle festival in October 24 and was curious if a sim of the track existed. Definitely purchasing.
Waiting for give away bro
I gave the controller away during a follow up video - earlier this year.. thanks for watching though dave
I watch in 2024 my half rig is ready
Box is expensive so made with PVC
hey bro thanks for the help i build a 2dof then upgraded it to a 3dof with pitch roll and surge, also if you use the cheap potentiometer there is some static from the psu just make sure they a far apart.
Hey D Max, I'm from Germany and was looking for a DIY motion solution when I came across your video. It's the most genuine, down-to-earth, and coolest solution I've found so far. Definitely ranks at the top of the methods I'm considering. Since the video is already 3 years old, I wanted to ask if you're still active and if you could possibly offer some guidance. Wish you all the best.
God bless you man
Hi, I have a question for you. I'm building my 2-dof simulator. I'm using 24 volt windshield wiper motors and I'm using a 24 volt 25 amp computerized power supply. Is it normal that when the motor has to use more force, the power supply stops for a second? It sounds like it turns off for a second.
I have been watching your videos for a long time, made various size simulators and now want to go deeper. I'd like to control the simulator directly via an accelerometer (mpu6050). Alas it is a coding scenario which is beyond me. I thought maybe Rene might be able to assist, unless you know of anyone else who can assist?
Well that's pretty cool.. I dont know that chip but maybe post it up on the x-simulator.net forum. I'm trying to find time to control some sea flow blowers using the IBT but every time I find the 'time' to work on it.. Life happens.. So I'm on pause for now.. Go and see what those guys at x sim may have already done it.. all the best D
@@DMAX_DIY I've done it, there is some fine tuning. I want to build a south African version of the kraken.
@@DMAX_DIY I'm not familiar with sea flow blowers, which video should I watch about it, I will do it for you and send the data
@@pmbguy2212 yeah now your cookin!
Great details. Knowing to suck it up and get the 4 quart double deal is piece of mind. Especially if buying 2 sets is less than buying two individual kits. Mattress travel bag was clever. Thank you for showing the real cook time. For fabric it doesn’t look like your plastic material has any stretch. I think you want faux suede like TurnRacing did for his diy sim wheel. That’s what I’m going to use coz it seems similar to the real f1 custom foam seats you can find drivers sitting for. See this real f1 seat being made…. th-cam.com/video/yjEgSEEEhuk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=i-A4haFhGIqTOVLe
very cool.. I'm still working on the seat cover. I did get a lot of it made but still need some time to finish it up. The foam i use is very rigid, so I did put some automotive upholstery foam under the seat cover.. Thanks for sending the video. Dave
It’s acting weird because you have not tuned the PID parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd). P is power (think zero rpm high torque), I is inertia to control overshoot, D is damper to stop it ringing. Look up “Horizon 4 electronics” video called “PID demo”. Also your understanding of the PWM pulse width min max etc is wrong. You want to end up with them maxed after PID tuning.
I know this is super late but you came to the wrong conclusion. It might be the motor need upgrade, and you did get bigger motors, but might not have been needed. You didn’t tune the PID parameters. The yellow is supposed to be super close to the green. It stalled because the pid wasn’t tuned to give a huge amount of amperage when you needed the torque. I get you’re it an electrical engineer and I am, but I don’t want you giving the wrong advice out of no fault of your own, coz you can’t know what you don’t know. There are great pid educational videos with how the parameters affect what’s going on. Search for some and you’ll have a much better solution.
Esto sirve pata pley? O solo pc?
sooooooo many adverts!! great video though
How does the computer control the actuators? Is there feedback on the game built in?
good question. Thanks. I made quite a few videos which go step by step on setting up the software and hardware to control the motors. Yes, the games actually provide output for the motors and allow everything to work properly. Take a look around at some of my latest video series, which are start to finish.. Dave
@@DMAX_DIYthanks for your response. I will do that.
Hi Dave! i'm building a sim to and im wondering how well the upright arm works, i mounted the motors to low and i wont have enough travel with a level arm
I think you need to look at the upright arm as a lever.. the longer the lever the more it can lift. Short arm will not give a lot of strength. (if I'm understanding what you mean).
Hello Dave, your project is amazing, i built a plane simulator, and i will want add a motion , it's a cessna 172 cockpit, th-cam.com/video/nPAN7DrgUEI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ujkS_lRVF70rpXTQ , can you tel me , i want 2 motor, so i will need the one or two power supply 24 volts am from Québec City in Canada thank you , Daniel,
Can you told me that its work on ps?
Wow
How do you like using the Jazzy Wheelchair Gearboxes Motors?
You have mentioned in your video that one is faster without motion but one has less fun. I disagree: I am faster with my motion rig and have more fun! 😀Back in covid time I´ve discovered your channel. Short time after I build my 1st seatmover with wipermotors. Now I own a self build 5 DOF motionplatform with linear motion actuators that can lift a ton. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction. Without your videos my talent would have never come to light. Thank you so much! Stay healthy and creative!
thanks for watching since COVID! Yeah I'm a bit slower but probably cause I'm getting older and practicing less.. I really appreciate the comment my friend! Dave
Hello friend, I have this problem. When I turn a potentiometer, both motors work at the same time, and if I turn the other potentiometer the same thing happens. What could it be?
that's pretty confusing for me. somehow both inputs to the arduino a0 a1 are getting the same signal perhaps. Try hooking up only one motor at a time. Connect one. and test, then disconnect it and test the other motor. I've not had that issue before. Dave
Hello friend, I have a big problem. Everything being fine in the smc3, when I move a potentiometer, the 2 motors respond at the same time... They never work individually. What could be happening?
