It sure would be. I'd have to take another look next time I roll through SELMA. My uncle had the Supercharged model in Colorado.. He let me drive it and kept telling me to 'wind it up' I was shifting at like 5G.. and he said 'shit around 6500.. Heck I just got off the plane.. Very cool cars.
Thanks for takin a look David.. Yeah I'm just driving along and the idea kind came to me .. So What the heck.. might as well just roll with it.. Who knows.. If I collect enough questions from the builders out there it may do somebody some good.. Dave
... Dave is on the road again ... I'd love to learn about calculating the size of the resistors taking the current coming back from the motors in a no battery system. In my MoSiRig I just guessed ... well still nothing blew up ... but that'd be a safety aspect you could teach us about mate. The weekend is near Dave. CU on the tracks!
Great question.. ART FLY.. Man now that's a question if I ever saw one. I'll look into it a bit, either that or just ask my DAD.. he'd know I'll put it on the list.. Dave
Congrats on the recent channel success Dave 👍Gonna have to be on the look out for your next video so I can try to win that Simtools giveaway. I'm waiting on some parts from china to arrive so I can finish my rumble motors for my pedals
Thanks RicheyB.. I wouldnt classify it as 'success' but it's a bit of fun for sure. I was just working on the 2nd ep and BOOM it's 25 min .. I gotta cut it up tomorrow night and leave a lot on the floor.. So what kind of motors for the pedals? Sim Hub? Cool.. I think i broke my Fanatec V3 motors cause I had them plugged into the USB and the phone jack to the wheelbase at the same time.. now they dont work.. So let me know about your project.. I could use some good info when you get them working.. Dave
@@DMAX_DIY as long as you're having fun 😊 I'm using this tutorial th-cam.com/video/wcWbjlMwF7Q/w-d-xo.html and yeah using simhub to control the shakers I'm personally using large Xbox rumble motors. I'm pretty sure that simtools has the functionality to do it as well but I could be mistaken. I know SRS does for sure. I've seen a lot of good reviews on the plug and play kits but I'm going the DIY route to practice my soldering and save a little money.
@@RicheyBLS I copied the link.. I'm going to look at it.. Eventually I want "LIGHTER" weight pedals.. may have to make them from carbon fiber.. Woot! Good to see a new video Dave! I like this idea, the main sim videos focusing on the build and these can get some specific questions some light. I know you are a grown man but... For or the love of God please get a mount for your phone for recording in the car :) How are we going to get our simrig fix if you end up in a ditch because you were fumbling with your phone I have to say, the fram just in primer looks really good. Big difference from bare metal. I have been experimenting with automotive vinyl wrap on my virtual pinball project(to cover the aluminum sheel of the power supplies(5/12/24v} and this weekend going to try to wrap my legs and lockdown bar and rails. I have an hlvp sprayer and Im okay at it but the vinyl looks like it might be an easy option. Okay for my question: You are building a 3dof rig. Sp you have pitch, roll and traction loss. If you were to put the whole thing on a flat platform that had some kind of piston/actuator to move it up and down would that be a 4th DOF? Or if if you have a way for shift the rig forward and backward ? Or left and right independent of traction less? I don't know if those are valid or I am confusing myself and not sure if they would be supported in simtool/etc.
Heck ya! NOW THATS A COMMENT! Ok .. I was just driving along and then thought.. I should just 'start' a video right now - totally random - either that or I would have forgot to do it or made an excuse by time I got to Alabama. I did buy some cool vinyl wrap already.. Cant wait to try it out on part of the frame.. So we thinking alike. Yes but you would need a massive amount of leverage or one heck of a powerful motor to move all that weight up and down. The other option.. - slide forward and bkwd - Yes I there is a company in UK that's doing it.. Lowrider or something.. That would be much easier.. Probably more immersive too.. SImtools would support either movement.. Up/Dn called "HEAVE".. Slide FW/BK would be surge.. Great question.. Thanks my friend! Dave
Great idea!! I thought I just replaced it.. Must be my FACE breaking it again.. Sheesh.. See ya on track maybe.. I'll be the one getting the blue flags.. Dave

Hi Dave, how much of a difference does the angle of the connecting rods (from the base platform to the mover) make? I've got some BTS7960's that seem to cut out under constant load, but the angle of the rods are only at about 7 degrees
Good question Matt. What type of power supply are you using? Maybe that is what is dropping out? My race rig is run off a battery. I say that because I have not had any of my IBTs cut out.. Also make sure you are using a fan to blow over the IBT fins.. They should be able to hold close to their spec rating (IBT's I think are about 43 amps.

Hi Dave, I have collected a few things to start my project but I'm not sure about my motor. I was thinking about using tarp motors off of a dump truck. I can get 50:1 or 60:1 motor. Do you think they would work well and if so what gear ratio? Thank you for all your video's!
Hey Adam.. Good question.. I saw those tarp motors on EBAY and almost bought some .. I think the 60:1 may be the best choice but without the specs I just cant say for sure. I'll make a note to pick up one to 'test ' out sometime this year.. I know that doesnt really help you now but at least it's back on my radar for information. Thanks. Dave
Simply cause I read the forums on x simulator and that seemed to be the best and most reliable motors to go for.. plus they were only $99 each at the time.. which was way cheaper than the big ones from Australia. 60:1 but about $350 each
