    Just got my 3 crab pot motors delivered today, got the 3 power supplies, got 6 of the IBTwhatsitsname (who knows when 6DOF will be on the "menu"), arduino... just need some small stuff to begin testing the connection and motion part.... next will be to plan how I'm going to make the rig... I have a GT Track and want to see if I can make a frame under it to make that move, dunno. Fun times ahead :D
    And once more! Thank you Dave, I wouldn't have even considered doing this without your videos man!

    Hi Dmax!
    I've got my 2dof seat That i've set up for some times now thanks to you ( 🙏)
    It's been working very nicely up until recently.
    Now one of my 12v windshield motor is getting very hot after a few minutes of use...
    The motion is still working well dispite that but I'm afraid to fry something a one point and it seems to be getting slowly worse :/
    Do you have an idea of what can possibly cause this motor to overheat..?
    I've already opened and cleaned the magnetic part of it but it didn't do it.
    It's quite strange considering my second motor is the exact same and it isn't overheating at all 🤔
    Thank you for all the good knowledge you share ! Merci !

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all, thanks for the super! Ok.. So I would check the electrical connections. they have to be tight. if It's not tight the heat will build up on the wires and that's bad. Second. maybe swap the IBT's around.. It's a pain I know.. but I am trying to come up with a 'snap on' kit' that might help. Third. Maybe the IBT is bad? generally it will overheat a few times then just fail if they are bad. Sometimes the Motors themselves are not the same, even though you would think they are. It's frustrating I know. I did not have a great time using WW motors. They just did not have enough power for me even with a seat mover.. I went to the 24v wheelchair motors .. I also recommend the 12v crab pot motors. I have them on two of my rigs and they act very responsive. Hope that helps.. Maybe someone else in the community can send an answer too.. Dave

  • @josephlarsen
    @josephlarsen ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wonder if you used the larger wheelchair motors (the 350w ones) if that'd work more comparable to the crab pot motors or even better

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      great question but hard to answer.. so the Crab pot throw around me and my rig just fine at 12 volts. the Wheelchair motors I used in my video were 24 volts which have more torque because 24 volts is twice as strong. I think you would be fine with either one of those solutions. 350 watts per motor is probably enough to push you around just fine. Let me know what you decide to do and hopefully my videos have covered it. Dave

    Is the roll inverted? Looks like it tilts right when turning right? Gforce would be opposite?

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good eye.. Yeah I probably need to switch it.. There is a little 'tick' mark in the software where you can flip the directions of the motors if you discover they are going the wrong way.. It should tilt left when turning right.. But setting each up individually is the key.. Good one Tom! Dave

    On a side note. I understand why you have a laptop right next to you considering the complexity/detail layers of adjustments. I actually have my CarSim stuff in the ManCave 2 floors down from main power Computer system. Can USB 3.1 and Cat 7e down the air vent to it.. How come your motion rig is rolling into the corner like a motorcycle? Isn’t it supposed to roll out to simulate centrifugal g force?

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question Oliver.. You can easily flip the motion with the 'switches' in Simtools software.. I'm just a 'user' I't not my software, plus I'm doing this all for fun so If it seems backwards to you, maybe it is, take a look at my other rig videos, seems pretty real to me and maybe it doesnt come across on video the way it should but I already tore apart that rig to build a different one and using the parts on another 3dof full frame rig series on the channel.. Take a look if you have time.. Thanks for watching ! DMAX

    hi dmax , I can not equalize my system , my project is stopped , I noticed that my 24v motor generates reverse current for the ibt2 drives , this could be the problem of my system , 6v to 11v return in short movement

    • @beninitur7018
      @beninitur7018 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      as the motors stop, the bridge h could be going into protection due to the return current of the motors, because I'm driving the car, everything works fine, suddenly it stops and the chair falls, restarting everything goes back to work

I was able to test my 25 amp power supplies to right around 25 amp stally speed.. but in no way did the motion of the seatmover come close to that.. maybe 5-6 amps .. I'm just not sure what may be going on in your case.

    Olá você pode colocar uma mola traseira aspiral de carro pequeno e uma trizeta de carro com tração dianteira para funcionar os 4 motores sem forçar. No meu caso só 2 motores funcionam. A mola e a trizeta já estabilizam o banco . Também já fiz usando 4 molas traseiras de moto 125cc e uma cruzeta no meio. E não foi nesse usei motor cep 24v bosh 8.4 amp. Sou do Brasil

    • @DMAX_DIY
      @DMAX_DIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the translation: Hello, you can put a small car spiral rear spring and a front wheel drive car triplet to run the 4 engines without forcing. In my case only 2 engines work. The spring and the threesome already stabilize the bench. I've also done it using 4 rear springs from a 125cc motorcycle and a cross in the middle. And it wasn't in this one I used a cep 24v bosh 8.4 amp motor. I'm from Brazil Ok.. I think you are asking if you put a big spring on the bottom instead of a u-joint you might be able to make the same motion.. Maybe I'm wrong about that.. I would want to use a u joint for stability primarily. but the spring idea might work.. the key is to use leverage in the most efficient way. therefore the u joint is the pivot. hope that helps..

    It’s acting weird because you have not tuned the PID parameters (Kp, Ki, Kd).
    P is power (think zero rpm high torque),
    I is inertia to control overshoot,
    D is damper to stop it ringing.
    Look up “Horizon 4 electronics” video called “PID demo”.
    Also your understanding of the PWM pulse width min max etc is wrong. You want to end up with them maxed after PID tuning.
