CR Scan Otter - Full Body Scan
มุมมอง 1.3K14 วันที่ผ่านมา
This's the first time I do full body scan with CR Scan Otter. (Mostly done only the head shot) Here's what I found. - Turn table is not necessary. It will throw the subject out of balance while scanning. Standing 2 feet on firm ground and move the scanner around subject seem to give better result. - Long loose dress is not ideal. It will move and hard to fix in post processing. - Agree with you...

To help you with the weight of the scanner look for "Monopod Holster Pouch", "Monopod Waist Bag Camera" or "harness for heavy lenses" :)
I cant find the performance testing. Where is the button to activate it in the creality scan software? Thank you.
Great video, Have you used einstar shining? How does it compare to the ottor and if you had to choose between the 2 Ottor or Einstar what one would it be and why?
I haven't tried Einstar yet, but I would pick Otter over it. Here, it's half the price of Einstar, and it comes with 2 depth cameras.
Awesome video. What Lidar you are using? Is the yellow color scan quallity identification?
It's SLAM LiDar from FJDynamics. The dot color informs real-time tracking quality. So users would know if it's about to lose tracking and can move slower or retrack.
Sawasdee Krub. Great video of the SLAM lidar scanning process - custom rig ?! - thanks for sharing ! Also interesting to see cross sections and live cropping using CloudCompare... nice example of the tools capabilities.
Sawasdee to you. The scanner is from FJDynamics, not a custom one.
Спасибо, очень полезная информация.
Your welcome !
I dont understand why mine keeps losing tracking and doesnt become green no matter what..
There could be many reasons, not enough markers, not using proper reflective markers, and PC performance.
You are by far the best channel when it comes to scanning. I really appreciate your scanning tips videos. You're very knowledgeable. Keep it up.
Wow, thanks!
You could scan a car door or something large with the blue laser raptor to see the required memory consumption and performance of your machine.
You will run out of frame limit before the memory. I never see it uses more than 16 GB before it hits the frame limit.
Anyone got any idea how well the software runs on a modern Mac (say M3 MacBook Pro)
There was a viewer here told me it ran fine on his M3 MacBook.
This is very helpful information, thank you.
You're very welcome!
Thank you for this very interesting video, but I have a question: where did you download version 3.2.19 of the Creality Scan software? On the Creality website, we only have version CrealityScan_Win_3.2.14 for windows and version CrealityScan_Mac_3.2.16.dmg for MAC. Thank you
It's Beta version. A guy from Creality sent to me for testing.
😎👏🏾🫵🏾🏆
Would be really nice to know if a Steam Deck can handle the capture
4 cores CPU, I think it'll struggle.
Nice one Payo
Where can I Buy the reflective Markers for Cheap? ive just got my Raptor and after some of your 30 and 60 degree markers im nearly out of Dots. Ives seen some sites that sells 5000 Dots for nearly 200$ but thats way more than I want to spend for them
I bought it from here, exactly the same as the one that come with the scanner. 16 USD for 1000 www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002395431281.html?spm=a2g0o.order_detail.order_detail_item.3.1328f19cZc82mq
@@Payo-TensileCreator Thanks for your Reply, that is an amazing Price. unfortunately not available in GER but thank you for the tip :)

Something is up with my setup, my laptop far exceeds your specs yet i manage 24fps blue laser and 4fps using infared mode. Super frustrating to use, especially detrimental to tracking. I have everything setup correctly, creality says my gpu has not enough memory, but you have no problem using dedicated graphics. Maybe its an issue working with intel CPU?
Did you plug in your laptop while scanning? I tested it with i9 13980HX, it runs at maximum speed, no issue at all.
With CrealityScan 3.2.16 it consumes 100% CPU on a single core when not scanning or doing any processing. The Raptor is connected. This happens on both macOS and Windows. Does this happen with 3.2.19 too? On macOS the "Idle Wake Ups" column in the Activity Monitor has a very large number compared to every other process on the computer (process CrealityScan -> bash -> sudo -> CrealityScan), which could be related to the CPU usage. Feels like a bug.
No, 3.2.19 will use all available CPU cores, but it won't run at 100%, 40-50% in average.
@@Payo-TensileCreator I mean 3.2.16 is exhausting a single core while doing nothing, when it’s in the start screen. It should use practically no CPU there. Is that bug still in 3.2.19?
I didn't check the home screen CPU usage. But in the preview window just before pressing the start scan button. One of the CPU core will run at 100%.
@@Payo-TensileCreator Thanks for the reply. If you have contact with Creality, could you please point this out to them. I reported it via their website, but if you also bring this up then it might get more attention.
Hi, thanks to your TH-cam information, I bought a Raptor and am using it well. Information on running on low spec graphics cards is really important. Thanks for your testing. When doing a lot of mesh work in post-processing, even 32g of RAM was very difficult. It seems that RAM is much more important than the graphics card. I couldn't know this information, so I regret buying a laptop with RTX4050 and 16Gb RAM expensive.
Thanks for this video, this is good news!
Where is the download for that version?, I can only see the 3.2.14
Creality sent to me for testing. It's Beta version, the real one should release soon
I think the difference in GPUs would become more apparent when generating the Meshes after scanning. The scanning process mostly should use CPU a lot more than the GPU, but GPU would be utilized a lot more in meshing.
It uses very little GPU during point cloud mapping and meshing, but it uses more RAM, 16 GB won't be enough. I found that fast CPU and RAM speed play significant role in post processing performance rather than the GPU.
This test IS very usefull, Many thx for having took Time to do it 👍
Simple yet effective test! Very useful information, thank you!
Can I use this Scanner with the mobile phone?
No, it has to be connected to a (fast) PC or Mac.
As kids, our generation was tortured by our parents making us endlessly try on clothes in stores. This generation is tortured by being made to stay still while being 3d scanned😂
Do you have those marker towers posted somewhere to download and print I've been looking for something like that that provides height, but haven't found anything similar
Download links are in the video description.
Another excellent video !!!! From where to get the cr-scan beta version?
From download
It was sent by Creality for testing, I can't redistribute it. They should release real version any time soon.
This has given me a great idea for my current project, thanks again Payo
Awesome comparrison and review of the stainless 3d print
Thanks! 👍
How did you get rid of the markers from the cloud/mesh? They were there at 3:41 then gone when you combined the scans. Thanks!
The software removes the markers automatically when optimized the point cloud.
Thank you for the video. I am writing a comment to ask for help. If I delete some of the scan data and then do optimization work, the scan data returns to its original state. What is the reason? Or, if you delete some of the faces after meshing the scan data and then click the mesh button again, this will also be restored to its original state. What is the reason? If I have time, I would like to watch a video on how to use the software in detail. Thank you for always.
I also had this deleting and come back issue with the older version of software. The current one, 3.2.14 doesn't has this issue anymore. It could be that you delete the point cloud by using delete key on the keyboard, try deleting by clicking on the delete icon instead, see if the problem still persists.
@@Payo-TensileCreator Thank you for quick response. One problem is that the version I am currently using is version 3.2.14. ㅠㅠ Is there a solution? Am I the only one with these symptoms?
STL export is now an option in creality software.
Hey Payo, What are the specs on your computer you are scanning on?
My CPU is intel i9-14900K and the GPU is Nvidia RTX 4090
thank you, revopoint better step their game up
Can I please ask what power bank you use, and how many watts it can out put via USB c? I purchased a power bank that outputs 100W via usb c, but it’s not enough to stop my laptop from down-clocking and having bad frame rate(15frames) and very bad stuttering. I did try adjusting the bios to max performance when there is no AC, but it didn’t make any difference.
I use ZMI 20, the max output power is also 100W to the laptop. Maybe you can try turning off integrated graphics (MUX Switch). My laptop runs faster when Nvidia Optimus is turned off (Using discrete graphic only)
Thank for the video, Where did you get the marker tower?
Download link is in the video description.

Please advise me which scanner is the best and easy to use 😢
What kind of object are you scanning with?
I Have seen you can use a bunched up a rug or sheet on the opposite side of the windscreen to scan more of dashboard, as the scanner picks up on the complex geometry of the bunched up fabric.
The Raptor is mind blowing how much detail it picks up. I have learned so much thanks to you Payo.
your channel and tips are incredibly helpful, thank you. I was driving myself crazy, for hours, trying to get solidworks to line up the point cloud with the axis' correctly. That software did a better job than I could in >2 hours in solidworks. You should show more features of that software that you use.
In this dangerous structure, per safety standards it is safe to send only a drone in and a lady to record the drone.
