Did something similar. But I left 0.8mm material on the top to cover the dove tail.

I haven't had too much luck with dovetails from the slicer, but it's a feature in mine. Have you tried just importing a single STL and then using the slicer's dovetail feature?

No, I made that in CAD. I prefer my own geometry and tolerance.
