    I lived southeast of Tucson once and southwest of Tucson once. I have always loved southern Arizona. We had to move to Tenn to take care of my wife’s parents. I would move back but with the underground aquifers dropping lower and lower water is my biggest concern and water is an absolute necessity!!!

    I live in Buckeye Arizona, in the Westpark Community. Yes the homes and schools are fairly decent, as far as pricing, and quality are concerned. However, beware of the HOA neighborhoods. HOAs here are making huge money from home owners, and are not offering amenities equal to what home owners are paying. What home owners mostly pay for are the HOA's telling you what you can and can't do, and fining you sometimes without notice, for violations you are not aware of. Also, stores and gas stations charge more than customers are being charged the closer you get towards Phoenix, Goodyear, Glendale, and Avondale. DO your due diligence before you decide to move to Buckeye. One more thing. The cold water here is not cold at all during the summer months. In fact, the cold water can be as hot as the actual hot water. I asked Buckeye water department, and the answer I got was that Buckeye is burying the water lines up to code. That may be the case, but it s still not deep enough to make our cold water....cold. There are options Buckeye has to make thing better here, but the city refuses to do any of them.

    Having spent most of my life in Phoenix but also having lived in Montreal and Chicago, I can safely say that the bang for the buck in downtown Phoenix is very underwhelming. And the couple of times I went to First Fridays must have been unusual, because all I noticed was bad parking, bad art, bad music, and some pretty strange people. People should know, too, that just about anything worth doing in downtown Phoenix is gonna cost ya a pretty penny if you don't want to be stepping over homeless people on the sidewalk to get there. It seems to be a downtown without a soul. Phoenix downtown had one once, but I think it was sold around the time they started having one-way streets LOL.

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First Fridays has changed so much over the years from when it was first starting out. It definitely is a lot more busy and lots more traffic. Downtown can certainly be more expensive like many other cities in the US. Are you from the downtown Phoenix area?

    • @timward3116
      @timward3116 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@LIVING_IN_ARIZONA Greetings! Both times I went to First Fridays, I was coming from the western suburbs. The first time, I went there intentionally with a friend. The second time, I just happened to be there for a meeting nearby. Both times, though, it was extremely crowded, so I don't know how much more crowded it could possibly get. Unless the quality (as I define "quality," anyway) of it has changed significantly (better art, better music, less of a freak show), I just wouldn't have any interest in going again. Fine for those who like it, though. I compare what we have here to what Montreal has, and I realize the effect of our city government's priorities on our "culture." Phoenix destroyed its original, walkable, downtown and replaced it with a maze of one-way streets, courthouses, office buildings, and monuments to banks and insurance companies... and now it is trying to squeeze some condos in here and there. Montreal (both city proper and metro area) has the same size population as Phoenix. Its downtown area is extremely accessible from anywhere in the metropilitatan area by subway (called "the Metro"), public and private art is everywhere, the architecture is incredible, there are free music festivals and art exhibitions constantly, and literally dancing in the street. Under the city is "the Underground City" as well, miles and miles of underground shopping malls and subway stations (all started in the 1960's). Chicago has similar cultural amenities and easy access to downtown, though it has a larger population and a less comfortable public transit system. Price-wise, the cost of living in Chicago and Montreal is comparable to here. For many decades (at least since the 1970's) all Phoenix has thought it had to sell was sunshine and moderate winter temperatures - and the evidence is all around us. Although some prices may be a little higher in those cities, those increases are offset by things like public transit, free amenities, and other lower costs. Phoenix could learn a lot from those cities. For an illustration of the point I'm trying to make, I recommend the TH-cam video: "The Montreal Metro is a Masterpiece." There are tons of videos about Montreal's and Chicago's vibrant city life, though, so check some of those out, too.

    My dad and mom passed away, and they both left me their house in Arizona. My question is when do I pay the property tax, and will I get it sent in the mail? Thank you for your time... Take care, and God Bless you and your family.

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question and thanks so much for reaching out! It will depend on a few things. If they had a mortgage on the home and the mortgage is still being paid off, part of that should include an escrow account that will pay the taxes for you automatically. If they bought the property with cash or have paid off the mortgage and own the property free and clear, you can pay the property taxes through the Maricopa County Assessor site. Click the link below then follow these directions: enter the address of the property or the name of the person on title (your parents name or your name), When the results come up, click the APN number to pull up the record. Then click the button that say "View/Pay Tax Bill" and it will take you to the county site for you to get the taxes all paid for the year. www.mcassessor.maricopa.gov/

    Are there any smaller and less expensive options?

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, there are tons of options at different sizes and price points. The most affordable options will be in the farther out cities and areas like Maricopa, San Tan Valley, and Surprise. We've done videos on all those areas and new construction communities there so definitely check those out! 😊

    Let me give you guys advice you should appreciate what you have while you have it, I live in hawaii and pay 1550 for a 1Bed 750 Sq Ft and that’s not including water/electricity/gas/wifi

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very true, even though the cost of living has gone up here in AZ it is still a lot more affordable than many other areas and cities like NY, DC, Hawaii, Cali, etc. I've heard pretty much everything about the cost of living in Hawaii is higher. Are things like groceries, flights, furniture, etc also more expensive there?

      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for reaching out! We have a lot of clients from Canada that have moved here or bought second homes here to enjoy the sunshine! The economy in Scottsdale is very strong, AZ in general has a very strong job market and is continuing to growth. Scottsdale is one of the more expensive cities to live in here, but its beautiful and has lots to offer! If you ever want to hop on a zoom call with us to chat more and go over any questions you might have about maybe making the move here somewhere, book a call with us any time! bit.ly/LivingInArizonaCall

    During the summer most people stay inside or in their air conditioned cars during the day in AZ. But when the sun goes down you see people start leaving their homes to walk the dog or exercise. It’s still hot at night (often lows of 90) but without the sun cooking you it’s bearable at night.

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah we mostly hide inside with AC during those summer months. It's still hot even at night like you said, but it's more bearable. We just have to treat our summers like a lot of people treat harsh winters, staying inside for those few brutal months and then enjoying the outdoors more once it's get nicer!

    You cant blame the voting practices just cause you feelnits convenient. What do you expect ppl to do? Not ever discuss politics? Jeeez...anywhere you move to the cost of living is much more

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      True, the issues with politics and cost of living are all over in most of the cities around the country. Hoping people can find the areas that they feel are a good fit for them so they can enjoy it!

    Is there less pest in certain areas in buckeye?

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, some areas have less pests than others. Usually if you are living somewhere near the mountain or that has new construction there can be more pests. Pest control companies here know how to deal with the pests really well so finding a good company to help prevent the pests is the best way to go 😊

    I thought you said it was cheaper rent due to ASU

    • @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA
      @LIVING_IN_ARIZONA หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah it will depend on what area of Tempe you are in and what type of rental you are looking for. A lot of the rentals geared towards ASU students can be more affordable, but there is also the high end apartments and homes since Tempe is becoming a big employment hub too with all the companies and headquarters going in there.
