The heat, it hits 100 degrees by mid April and stays there until mid october. If you live in a modest size home your electricity bill will be $500 a month in the hot months. Even pools can get too hot to be in, and it never cools down at 4am it will still be 90 degrees. Enough said.
The heat is a big one for sure. It does stay hot a long time, but energy bills will vary depending on age and size of home and efficiency of the HVAC system. I live in a midsize home and the highest energy bill I've had during the summer is $350 (and my husband keep the house REALLY cool lol). But for someone who doesn't want to deal with the heat, Phoenix might not be the right place for them. 🔥🌵
We converted to solar in September and are now realizing the benefits as our monthly heating bill is now a credit and will continue to grow during the summer months but go back down to a payment of $10 - $15 a month in the winter.
@@shockjay Great point, converting to solar can help you save on your electric bill here. ☀ It depends on whether solar in leased or owned, how much energy you use, what the monthly solar payments are, etc. so anyone interested should look into the details to see if it makes sense for them. 👍

I’ve been here nearly 20 years and I will NEVER get used to the summer heat. People think I’m crazy when I say I’ll take a brutal winter over a brutal summer any day.
Yep I've lived here my whole life and still am not used to the summers either 😅 They can be pretty brutal, but the rest of the year makes up for it lol!
As a Phoenix expat, AKA Fauxnecian, I learned early on that there is a HUGE distinction between the sprawling segregated exurbs of Phoenix & Tucson, & the rest of Arizona, which is much more diverse than the concrete & asphalt ocean the building islands exist among. As a marketing professional, I’d hope you tighten your language to help people understand the difference between the desert & urban desert-like conditions, because they are not the same, & Arizona has more to offer than just the endless burbs, highways & stroads.
That is such a great point! And it's one of the reasons I love Arizona so much, there are so many types of weather, landscape, and environments depending on what part of the state you are in. ☀ So cool that we can go from southern warm desert, to oak woods, to snowy pine forests, to red rock canyons in just a couple hours drive! 🏜 I love being able to do day trips here to see all the different parts that Arizona has to offer 😊
I am in Pittsburgh June 18th 2024 and all they are building is condos. High on the top of the hills where the farms were. But they don’t expand the roads. Traffic is out of site and this is being done in phoenix too. Where is all the water going to come from.
We have done videos about the new construction as well as the water info and questions if you want to check those out 😊 Pittsburgh market is definitely very different from Phoenix, but there us building and growth in both areas like you mentioned.
So sorry to hear that. Phoenix definitely isn't for everyone, so hopefully you can find a city and area that are a good fit for what you are looking for 😊
Haha I just left phoenix 5 days ago and moved up to the mountains in Lake Tahoe. Arizonians always brag about how az is the best state or most beautiful place to go. No. I am so beyond happy I made this move. I never got used to the heat. Lots of superficial people everywhere. Keeping up with the Kardashian mentality all over scottsdale. Fetynal, meth are an epidemic and being in recovery I lost over 30+ people I have know in recovery. It literally made covid look pathetic in Phoenix. I used to love it here but like alot of people have said it was very affordable here and it's no longer. California's have moved over. All your new young friends in the suburbs will be from Chicago or LA.
@@tannergunkel9330 Yeah you're right. Fake plastic people snake like everywhere here. Very standoffish too. The heat is unreal. Mid April I'm out of this place. California locusts jacked this place up like they do everywhere they go. Congrats on recovery that's not easy at all.
The traffic is horrible. Almost every part of the metro area is under constant construction. You can't go even a few miles without being delayed. I love to see one guy working while 6 ppl watch them.The people. A lot of Karen's and assholes live here and we seem to attract the worst types of people from other states.the rent and home prices are through the roof.The heat. The heat gets worse ever single year,and the state seems to have an aversion to shade structures.Drugs. we have an apocalyptic epidemic of drugs and druggies here that no matter where you go cant get away from. Asshole drivers. If you've never thought you could possibly be shot just going to work or the store drive in the metro area for a month. Cheaply constructed homes. 90% of the homes are literally chicken wire,foam and stucco they are not built to last 30 years. My home is 20 years old and it's already falling apart. Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah I want to make sure to be honest and provide all the facts and info so people can make an informed decision about if Phoenix is the right move for them. I'm up in the Norterra area and construction is crazy there with all the new developments and the TSMC plant going in. Maybe it's because I've always lived in Phoenix and am used to it, but I don't mind the construction too much and don't think it delays things that much other than downtown area, but it depends. Yeah Phoenix is not the best fit for everyone, so hopefully these videos can help them learn about it to decide if they want to make the move 😊 What part of Phoenix are you in? How long have you lived here?
I second what you are saying, especially with the people and drivers. I just moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex after living in Phoenix for 4 years. Oh what a breath of fresh air it is over here. Clean air, much much better and more polite drivers who don't try to block your lane change, and the people here are by far a lot nicer and kinder. I have no regrets leaving Arizona and I never want to return. I also have my roots in Texas too, so that makes big difference.
Depends on how big your house is and how much electricity you use, but for my 2 bed/2 bath home our monthly electric bill in the summers is around $350 average and $150 average in the winters. Pest control is usually around $50 every month or every other month depending on how often you have them treat the property. My pest control company treats my place every other month and it's $50 each time. Hope this info helps 😊
she is right! dont move here. wages are low, so families all move into ,they call them Mcmansion. the garages are full with evryones stuff, so everyone parks in the street and the new commers break into your car. it is hot. i will give you a tip. they are going to open the copper mine in superior az. thats where you want to go. buy 50 acres, put your house on 10 and sell off the rest.
@LIVING IN ARIZONA So I had moved 3 times within 5.5 years living there. First year I was in the Glendale neighborhood close to Cherry Creek. After that was Lakewood right by Casa Bonita and then lastly it was Capitol Hill right by Cheesemen Park. Ughh I miss it.

I live in Goodyear. I hate what's happened over the last 10 years. It's like California is officially annexed us and we're now Eastern California. I get my pension in 10 years and I can't wait to get out of the country.
LOL the heat is definitely one of the biggest reasons for sure ☀🌵🔥 but for those who hate the cold and don't like humidity like me, it works great haha!

Some of those can definitely be a concern depending on what part of Arizona you live in. You're right, basements are pretty rare here in Arizona. And since it is so spread out here and the public transportation isn't great it makes getting around very difficult unless you have a car.

It's not a 100 ° in April. And with a good solar company like us, we haven't paid the APS bill since January.
