Size Starting chains Stitches per row Number of rows

Small 214 212 43
Medium 224 222 45

Blocking Instructions
Get the poncho wet in a sink or tub of cool water. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Squeeze the water out. Lay the damp poncho out on a mat, mattress, towels, or clean carpet. Smooth it out and straighten the edges until it matches the dimensions listed for the size you made. Pin the edges down and wait for it to dry before crocheting the final seam.
XS: 21” by 66” (53cm by 168cm)
Small: 22” by 69” (56cm by 175cm)
Medium: 23” by 72” (58cm by 183cm)
Large: 24” by 75” (61cm by 190.5cm)
XL: 24” by 78” (61cm by 198cm)
2X: 25” by 82” (63.5cm by 208cm)
3X: 25” by 85” (63.5cm by 216cm)
4X: 26” by 88” (66cm by 223.5cm)
Crochet the shoulder seam
Fold the poncho in half lengthwise so the two short ends are matched up. Measure 12” (30.5 cm) from the folded edge and mark that pair of stitches with a safety pin or stitch marker. Starting from the two short ends, slip stitch the two layers of the poncho together to the stitch marker. This creates the shoulder seam along the top edge and leaves 12” (30.5cm) open for the neck hole.
Weave in the ends and enjoy! You can turn the poncho inside out so the seam is on the inside.

Thanks! I spread the balls of yarn out around me. One on the floor to my left, one on the floor to my right, one on my lap, one on the couch next to me, I toss one over the coffee table, etc. When the yarn is a little further away and spread out, they don't tangle as much.

New subscriber here. I’m so happy I found your channel and this particular video by accident. First off, I love the poncho and it’s just what I’m looking for!!! You teach the foundation DC great and it’s been forever since I’ve watched someone do the Russian join. I will absolutely start doing the Fdc and also the start each row with the chainless starting dc is really nice. I can’t stand when my edges aren’t uniform and I hate using a chain 3 when I have another choice I can use. I just printed out the pattern already. I will go dig out my Mandala cakes I haven’t seen in a couple of years. I really like that newer color called Meowth. I think I may go shopping to see if I can find it. Thanks so much! 😊 You are a very good teacher at crochet and your directions are very easy to follow. The pattern is well written as well. Thanks again!

I've made this poncho twice, once in a variegated green yarn and once in a variegated purple. The first I made just following the pattern with a regular double crochet. The second I did with double crochet, in the back loops only. I really like the difference the ridges make, but both are great! Such a simple pattern, and it makes a great addition to any wardrobe...and just in time for the 2025 freeze in Florida, lol.

I've made three baskets so far--2 mini and 1 large. The mini were not quite as tall as the small as I ran out of my yarn. I ordered your book, too, but love the video as it walks me through step-by-step. My biggest struggle is the yarns twisting. I'd stop often and just let my basket spin to untwist them. I guess that is just part of the process but wonder if there is a fix. Maybe my crochet technique is off and causing the issue.

If I’m using a smaller (size 6) hook (because that’s all I have and I couldn’t be patient), should I still turn the corner at row 30, or would I make sense to add more rows to make it a little wider? I’m getting close to that point and I think it will be about 18 inches when I’m done with 30.

I have been at a loss as to what to do with my yarn scraps, until now. Thank you for this pattern and this video, I love the look and durability of these market baskets. When I am out and about with mine, I get lots of compliments on it. During your video you reference how addictive they can be, and you were not kidding. 😊 You also reference upcycling leather belts from thrift shops, which I love that idea and am planning on using that suggestion for the handles. Good morning. How would you wash this? Can the strap be washed as well?

I wash mine in the kitchen sink with a little dish soap, strap and all. Then I lay it flat and squeeze it between two towels and let it air dry. So far so good!

Thank you for this video! I got your book and wanted to use the Four Corners yarn, but now that they are out of business, this video helps me so much in finding the best alternative colors!
