Susan, you had me at "a little Stevie Nicks"...lol !
What a great tutorial! They're all so beautiful!
Has anyone ever told you that you look and sound like the Canadian singer Anne Murray? She's in her 70's now, but if you check out her younger photos you might see the similarity.
I recently discovered your channel, and the first time I saw you and heard you talking, you reminded me of her right away.
Thank you for this shawl pattern. These shawls are all so beautiful. I will definitely use this pattern in the future.
Thank you! No one has told me that, I’ll take it as a compliment! 💗
Anne Murray is awesome! Always loved her music back in the day. 😊
Definitely saving this video for a future project. Thank you for such pretty things to make, with such excellent instructions!
love love love these im making them all.
😊
As a brand new crochet person who knows very little about crocheting, I so appreciate your great tutorials! You make me feel confident and eager to try anything! I love how you inform us with such joy and calmness. Thank you. I have already made the huggable tote bag and love it. I am giving it to my daughter for her birthday. Now I am going for this wrap.
Susan, I am so excited to see you back so soon. This will be a great car project. I love to have something to do while riding in the car or waiting for someone. My Mandala supply is large and this is a great idea.
You already answered my question about starting with a foundation single crochet ❤
Beautiful wrap
Thank you! That was interesting, I'm new at Crocheting and eventually I would love to try that. They are very pretty. Your Tutorials are very interesting, I can't wait to try this! Thanks again!
Love these wraps! Will make the first one! Sooooo pretty! Thanks! ❤ made your beanie that u made with the red heart granny square yarn. I used a different yarn and came out good but did not close up the top like u did bc i could not get it work. Love my beanie! Thank u so much!!
I'm making 2 of these simultaneously. One using a 3 weight wool-ease cake and the other using a discontinued hobby lobby yarn called 44th Street. I'm using 2 complimentary colors in that one. I'm really liking them both so far. Thank you for the idea. I've had this hobby lobby yarn for a year waiting for a good project for it.
I like the idea of doing an overhand knot for a great finish. Thank you. ❤
Me, too ❤
Thank you for sharing .This is a wonderful idea I have a few cakes of this yarn. I live in Nova Scotia canada. These shawls would be great for walking along the beach or sitting on my deck in the evening. Also great to keep in our car, as we go for drives and just randomly stop to walk along the ocean. Also like you sometimes I just want to crochet without having to think about a pattern. 👍🇨🇦⛵
Thanks for the thorough tutorial. I love projects using big hooks like this one. The draping is amazing.
I love the view behind you, it looks so peaceful where you are! I heard Colorado was so breathtaking, I love the mountains,
Thanks! It really is peaceful. That is the woods behind my house and it’s my favorite place to relax.
I love this !! Super easy and I finally understand how to do my foundation row using DC. Thank you !
so funny, I just crocheted berets and preemie hats with my 4 mandalas cakes! lol so I must replinish my supply. Thanks for sharing an idea for my next projects♥
This is so perfect thank you I just finished my bonus cake amd I'm thrilled thank you thank you for sharing ❤
I just came across yr channel, all yr projects are really so beautiful. Great intro, beautiful back grounds. Everything so beautiful, wish we have those yarns in our country. Watching from Asia btw.😘😘😘
This is a good scrap bustdr.
They are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
They are so beautiful !
Absolutely beautiful!
I really love these! I don't wear shawls, but I wonder is there a way to turn them into a poncho? This would be a great way to use up all my mandala cakes!
Love the Laid Back Scrap Wrap. Awesome name! 😂
Hi! I love the beauty and simplicity of these shawls! I’m planning to make at least two. Which mandala cakes did you use? There are so many versions now.
Thank you for this tutorial. 🦋
Thank you! 💗 The first one in the video is the Griffin colorway. The extra large one is a bonus bundle of the Sasquatch colorway. The one with fringe is a mix of scraps from many different Mandala cakes. No scrap left behind! 😁
You are the coolest!
Hiya, yr channel just popped up on my notifications. This is interesting I'd like to make the 1st one. Can I add a fringe to that like the other wrap please? I'm going to subscribe. Thank you❣️
Thanks! Yes, you can add fringe to the first style of wrap too. 💗
Thank you x
Hi. can I make it wider so it comes further down my body? Plus I am quite a big lady how do I make it lonfer?
Yes! Start with any number of chains you like. Maybe 120 or 130 chains for an extra long one, and you may want to add an extra cake of yarn to make it wider. Then it would be like the Bonus Bundle version I show in the video.
I am also a big lady and I started with 120. It didn't seem as big as in this video so I am going to try to block it.
I have a 6 and a 6.5mm hook am I going to have to double the amount of stitches in each row to make this work? You said a 11-12mm would work. New to crochet and wanted to try my first Mandela yarn.
With a 6.5 mm hook, starting with 216 stitches sounds like a plan. It would not be lacy like the ones in the video, it would have more like a blanket-type drape, which is nice too. The bigger the hook, the lacier the stitches will look.
❤❤❤beautiful ❤❤
Just beautiful! I will need to make a blanket style wrap!!😍☺️🧶
beautiful! What do you do with all those projects?
Thank you! 💗 I keep some projects, give some to friends and family, and donate the rest to various fundraising auctions in my area and across the country. The Kentucky Birth Coalition is one group I help fundraise for.
What size hook would you recommend if using different yarn? I’m in UK & our Lion Brand is different. Do you just go up a certain amount of hook sizes from the recommended ?
I recommend going up hook sizes by 5 or 6 mm. The Mandala yarn I used recommends a 5 mm hook, but I used an 11.5 mm hook for this.
@@prettypeacefulcrochetthank you so much, I absolutely love this video as a beginner & now addicted to all your videos. Will make nice projects for my insta 😊
The shawls are beautiful, can you tell me the name of the bright Mandala? Thank you
Thank you! 🐑 I used Griffin for the original wrap, Sasquatch for the oversize wrap, and various Mandala scraps for the fringed one. The specific scraps from specific Mandala colorways are listed in the free Laid Back Scrap Wrap crochet pattern on Ravelry here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/laid-back-scrap-wrap
@@prettypeacefulcrochet Thank you
Can this be done with a 10mm hook? I tried 12mm & it was a disaster for me😂
Absolutely! Use the largest hook that works for you. You could even go down to 8 mm or 9 mm and just block your wrap stretching the lace a little bit further than you normally would.
@@prettypeacefulcrochet that’s lovely thank you, I might just keep dropping a size until I’m not messing it up 😂 will I need to do extra chains? It really is a beautiful wrap
Did you do a video on the laid back scrap wrap
Not specifically. But the main body of the wrap is the same. Just leave a long starting and ending tail of yarn and fasten off after each row. When the wrap is done you can add more fringe to the end of each row.
The largest hook I have is a 10mm. Will that work?
Yes! A 10 mm hook will work. The lacy holes will just be a bit smaller.
@prettypeacefulcrochet Thank you! This will be my first project that is not amigurumi, so I am nervous!
❤❤❤
I missed what size the hook is. Anyone?
11.5 mm or 12 mm hook
