It is native here in America too, and was used by the Cherokee and other tribes for its medicinal properties. A real keeper and pretty too!

Speaking of quercus and prunus....have any list been made of native trees/shrubs with the highest insect values? Dr. Tallamy in the US/Can is among the leaders in assessing keystone values.

No mow May is a waste of time. All the good things that happen such as the insects laying eggs ets, is destroyed in June. You may as well not bother. The best thing you can do is have a designated area to leave if possible. You can make it look tidy by simply having a neat path through it.
