Rose labelling - Joe's Country Garden - December 23

There are a lot of roses in my garden and I want to keep many of them, and move some of them.I've been out labelling them so I know what's what and what's where before they lose their flowers.

Yes, deer don't eat the thorny stems, but they love to graze on the soft rose buds. So just before a big flush of bloom they come and it's gone overnight. They'll like your apples, too. You need a 7 foot high fence to keep deer out, so more feasible to use a deterrent spray. Mine is a mixture of garlic, pepper, mint, rotten egg, and a few other choice ingredients.

awesome project ahead... i started my project of one acre 5 years ago here in Pennsylvania. Its been an amazing journey but like you i have deer get ready for them cause unfortunately they do cause a lot of headaches if you dont have a tall enough fence to keep them out. Well hopefully you keep posting the project step by step. My garden became a Japanese garden and even dug for a pond, even though its still and on going project i've enjoyed it through the ups and downs ... mostly ups except when the deer got through or a storm did a bit of damage. ENJOY ur journey

A lot of these roses look like David Austin varieties, so maybe just reach out to them. For example Yellow Rose 1 looked a lot like Graham Thomas to me, but the Austin family would know immediately.

Ps I forgot to say in earlier video with the arch you will be losing. I think it’s a grape vine
