    Can’t get enough of Joe Swift! More of you!😂Seriously though, it’s your channel and your garden and you do what you like - after all the garden and you are in partnership so why not feature a bit of both. Keep up the good work!

      You’re one of the UK’s leading garden experts. Poo Pooh to all the naysayers. Don’t sell yourself short Joe. You neglected to mention the incredibly lovely mix of primula & marsh marigold or buttercups sprinkled amongst your gorgeous bluebells. Orchids & camassia as well. A bench I agree is all that’s missing.

    Perfect balance Joe … I’m personally loving seeing how delighted you are discovering and uncovering the hidden gems .. like this Bluebell Wood ..in your new garden… ! The best UTube channels heavily feature their content creators as viewers like to connect with them and feel part of the process… so excited to see what’s coming up next and how you tackle all your projects. Lots of hard work ahead but that’s part of the enjoyment of gardening isn’t it? The rewards are priceless!

    Stunning bluebells! Not had much luck with them up in the mountains of Japan myself. The wild boar seem to love them! Totally agree about removing the sleepers and letting the woodland bleed gently into the lawn - very Robinsonesque. Can’t think of a better person to have taken custodianship of the garden: respecting what’s there, and yet not afraid to add your own chapter to the story. For what’s its worth, I think the balance between your horticultural musings and then some shots letting the garden speak for itself is very engaging.

    Looking lovely Joe. For the record, I like you being in shot to see your reaction to what you are showing us. It’s your garden after all! How about a sinuous curve of rhododendrons, azaleas and maybe some large hydrangeas planted along the drip line of the wood to soften the interface between wild and cultivated? You could underplant it with trilliums etc

  • @1HappyPatty
    @1HappyPatty 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Joe, commenting from California here... let me say that your knowledge is amazing, your passion infectious, your imagination contagious. The comments about "less Joe" are really sort of a sideways compliment. You are a good teacher. A really good teacher. Which means we want you to SHOW us what you are talking about. Imagine you are a professor in a lecture hall, discussing plants. Behind you is a big screen to show what you are talking about. But on the screen is your face. Nice, pleasant... but doesn't ADD to what you are saying. Now imagine that on the big screen behind you is a picture of the plant you are discussing -- it makes listening much richer. So, when you are making videos you are spending a lot of time showing us your face, while talking about plants or plans. It would be a better experience for your audience if you showed us the plant while you were talking about it. I think it's probably a youtube learning curve, and involves a lot of "B" reels and editing... you will get there, it will just take some time. A good example for you is "Garden Answer" -- she spends about half her time off camera... showing and demonstrating. We still get "face time" with her, but she is teaching us, and her focus stays there. KEEP IT UP!!!

    Hey Joe, can't wait to see what you do with the garden. Commenting because bluebells have suddenly appeared in my very small patch front garden, it's a very damp north facing patch, and I have 3 yucca in it and they are thriving, but I left the green leaves when the first started just to see what they were, I've also discovered wild garlic in the same bed. I will leave them as I haven't seen them since I was a child, I live in Dublin city, Ireland so maybe with all the wild flower planting they blew my way 😊 keep up the videos
