How amazing to inherit such a great variety of roses - so useful for us to see how the rose you cut right back has flourished. I really love seeing each step you are taking to develop the garden. 💜
Really enjoyed your video, loving the guided tour, and seeing taking its shape. Great that even now you can enjoy the garden with your family. You are so lucky, so glad we can be part of it too, thanks Joe 😊
What wonderful surprises! I think one of the best parts about it is you can see what is working where and add and move plants to where you want. They are telling you where they are happy: ).
I’m so envious of your ability to have so many roses. Here in Alabama in the US we get invited by Japanese Beatles every summer and they love roses. I spend everyday picking them off multiple times a day.
Joe how lovely it must be for you to finally have your dream home and garden and with your design knowledge and love of the au naturelle style, I can’t think of a better person to take over Charlie’s garden. He must be so happy to be able to keep up with the progress you’ve made. The pathways are genius and thank you for taking us along with you as you garden on the hoof!
Hi Joe....following you from here in Germany where my beautiful wild garden...AKA overgrown, full of weeds garden...has similar conditions to yours. Love your sensitive approach
Charlie really busted his butt on that garden. You can tell there are years of effort there. Love how you are making the garden your own without bulldozing everything like some people do with a new place. Blessings
I think I recognise some of those roses. Boule de Neige, the white quilled to the green button eye. The pink crumpled Gruss an Aachen. Some David Austin’s, possibly Lady of Shallot. I’ll have to watch your montage through a few times to hazard a guess at others. Lovely collection to have!
I am really loving watching the delight on your face, when you spotted the Jasmine :) So jealous of the rose collection. really enjoying these walks around your garden :)
Your roses are truly wonderful. What an interesting project % you get to figure out this whole garden for yourself, by yourself. The process is unfolding and it’s very interesting indeed.
That was a lot of fun, Joe! I'm getting a better sense of the different areas you are creating. Fabulous roses, and the yellow jasmine I've never heard of before. 😊
Hi Joe, I really enjoy seeing your garden, it is coming along nicely, I like your crazy paving too. I think it's funny how many plants you mentioned in your rose-tastic video that I grow in my garden on the West Coast of Canada. Mock orange, roses, and veronicastrum, I have 3, great for bees, keep up the good work!
Wow Joe there's been so much done! I'm loving the meadow&those roses are just gorgeous, the funk montage was👌🏼 thank you for the updates& your enthusiasm for this epic garden build.
What a wonderful garden. Your roses are impossibly beautiful! It is sweet of you to be so agreeable about the deer nibbling your roses. I do hope he doesn't tell all his buddies about it. Thank you so mush for sharing.
What an absolute gem you’ve acquired! I have three Philadelphus in my garden. Coronarious (same as yours), Virginalis (double) & Belle Etoile (dwarf single with burgundy blotch). All smell divine! My winter Lonicera fragrantissima is flowering currently. (Winter down under).
Your property is similar to mine in terms of the wild gardening. I love just walking around and finding little things to clip back, etc. I have a few beds here and there where I try to force my own will on it more, but good lord is it hard work and most plants won't stand a chance against these established wild thugs. I'm proud of what I've managed to do but it takes constant upkeep to keep the wild at bay. Best to embrace such a situation instead of fighting a losing battle, lol! It's the kind of property that gobbles plants up. You think, Huh, I've got a ton of plants to put in! Then you put them in and you realize it's a drop in the ocean. You're lucky to have so many "heirlooms" you inherited from the previous owner, at least that gives you a head start!
I just put in the same Philadelphus - Belle Etoile in my front garden and it's flowering now. I remember the scent of it from 40 years ago when I stood infront of a mature specimen and just inhaled it over and over again and even coming back to inhale it some more, it's just that good. I've been sniffing my young specimen, it's only just over a foot high, but it's taken me back to my 30s... I knew it would. I have to drag my neighbour in to come smell it... No, I'm not obsessed 😁
Hi Joe 👋 Looking absolutely fantastic now. Orchids, philadelphus, yes looks like clotted cream. Leave them, few branches, nice to do a bit of ducking n diving. And of course Rose-tastic heaven 🌹🌹👌
Love how much you have connected with this garden! The roses are all i remember from our stay there - and the yellow thalictrum which i have grown since then!
Lovely to see you having so much fun with your new garden ! My garden is tiny in comparison but it is my playground 😊. Thanks for sharing it and your knowledge 😊
I love that you want to share your gardening process. I appreciate that. I just came across your channel yesterday or the day before but I've been a British Gardening fan for 8 years now. Like you, I am leaving the extra plants to chop and drop to feed the others and they also keep the roots cooler. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Joe, you've helped me identify a plant in my garden. Apparently I have a mock orange too. It really is a beautiful scent but I didn't know what it was. Thank you!
Lovely update - thanks Joe! A question about roses: any tips on how to identify them? I’m in a new (to me) garden, with a few beauties and I’m curious to know their names.
The roses and philadelphus look amazing! 04:59 Would that jasmine do in a pot? 06:56 We have 40m of beech hedge that gets the aphid every year and it’s fine left to sort itself out. I didn’t realise it was special to beech though.
Beautiful 😍

Joe, this garden is going to be absolutely beautiful. Enjoy the process

A bit longer video so that was nice, I’m not that keen on roses but it’s good to see what you have to contend with in your new space. Thanks Joe.

Loving your updates.
I know I''am going to enjoy your garden progress, thank you for sharing.
when I upped the diversity of my plantings, especially as I introduced more native plants, my pest pressures disappeared.
No thank you for sharing, not a rose lover but you've got some good colours there, it's coming on nicely, always look forward to an update.
Beautiful roses and beautiful setting
Enjoyed following the work in your garden so far. Will there be more up dates?
Lovely to see how your garden is progressing Joe. Gorgeous roses! 14:50

Hi Joe just love the roses & the way you’ve made the paths through the grass its beautiful lv Irene 😘 xx
Beautiful deer! I could just sit with my coffee and watch him munch all morning!
I love that you can hardly contain your excitement. Its refreshing! Oh and the bit of Funk to accompany the roses was sweet 👍👍👍

Your clotted cream jasmine may surprise you. Mine has taken over half an old apple tree.
Lovely garden it's coming on 😘 and great video. 🤗
Hi Joe, you've helped me identify a plant in my garden. Apparently I have a mock orange too. It really is a beautiful scent but I didn't know what it was. Thank you!
Very pretty deer snacks. Is the deer your first WOOFer, rose pruning for food?
I’d give anything for a garden like this! Love those orchids Joe 👌🏻

GM from S Florida. I would love to grow roses here, but it’s a bit hot. Glad to see you’re putting the hours in while the weather is nice.

The garden seems larger in this video. Maybe its due to the work you have already done. Looks great
Hey Joe, it’s lookin’ fabulous. How will you treat the roses that have black spot?
Gorgeous, which Philadelphus was the most fragrant please do you know the name? Xx
Hey Joe, congratulations on your beautiful garden however please lose the music
Thanks, i like a bit of music being a bass player! Joe
The music with the roses - awful!
Enjoyed the video Joe
