Perfect starter watch. 10X better than SKX despite only 100m wr.

If they made this in 36mm it would be perfect. I would even take 38mm. I’m not sure how you are getting 12.7 for the thickness. I have one and mine is about 11.6mm thick when I measure and I believe the official number from Seiko is 11.5mm.

The SRPE55 (black dial) is my current daily watch, on an expresso leather strap, and it’s been fantastic. A great Explorer or BB 36 alternative if you’re not in that price bracket 😂

I own the SRPE61, basically the same as in the video but with a brushed bezel to avoid it being a scratch magnet. As long as you don't buy it for the retail price you can't go wrong if you're looking for decent specs on an everyday "first automatic" that's versatile and a strap monster. And with some slight changes like swapping the hardlex for a sapphire cristal you can easily make it even better without breaking the bank. Give it a try and have your fun with it, might be the last half-way decently priced Seiko.

My #1 recommendation as a first automatic used to be the Hamilton Khaki Field, but those are like 750 euro nowadays, so not really a entry point for most folks.

If you just about to "enter" a watches -Seiko is a brand you can't do a mistake! Just buy one and enjoy! 👌🔥

I think this is just an OK Seiko. Somebody looking for their first elegant watch would be better off getting a used piece.

Hey, I completely agree with your take. The SNSX is very charming, but if you don't already have one, don't buy one now. The SRPE is a great watch. Put it on an aftermarket bracelet and it's on a whole new level. Cheers

Why are people so deluded? It's been a very long time since seiko offered quality value for money pieces (hardlex, bracelets from a factory even Pagani design refuse to use, lack of movement regulation). There are way better brands offering far higher quality pieces at real value for money.

SARX029 is the better watch, released in 2016. I have had it since early 2020 from Japan. Seiko don't think the newer watches are better they just slightly upgraded the movement and doubled the prices in AUD from the SARX029 which retailed in Melbourne for $1,350 with the 6R15 to the new close but uglier SPB405 which is $2,600 with the 6R35 or the more boring SJE081 for $5,950 with the 6L35. The differences you are paying for is the Presage range price increases over time from 2016 to 2023 and the latter you are paying for the range increase over time but for the actual upgraded movement. Nice video!

I do like the eagle ray (love a compressor) and would consider it for a GMT since I don’t want a clone of a Swiss. Not sure blue would be my choice but hey, to each his own. Would be nice if the second hand hit the marks.

Location of the store

I own the Sarb021 and Sarb023. Bought them both around 2014. Also owned the Sarb033 and Sarb017 but sold them off. Do regret selling the Alpinist. Sarb021, it's absolutely stunning in real life. Although the Sarb023 is essentially the same watch, it's less interesting. Its still gorgeous due to the angular and aggressive case detailing, but it's let down by the white dial.. its very matt and just has no pop in comparison to the striking black dial of the Sarb021.

Are the displayed prices with tax included? So foreign tourists could get a ~10% tax free discount?

gorgeous dial and the plain white model is nice too - not too fond of the silly 24hr meter, i always think this is nonsense but what kills if for me is that 14mm thickness - why? I own 7750 chronos that are thinner... my Orient Polaris is 12mm with power reserve and GMT function...

Hilarious. I am the opposite - if the watch is not titanium, it feels clunky, low quality and far less pleasant to wear. Hence, most of my watches are titanium. That watch has only one downside - RC only in Japan (unless you use en emulator).

Most of the lume blobs on the dials don’t even line up with their approximately corresponding hour indicators. They should have just filled the indicators grooves with lume and let it go at that. But that might have cost them a dollar. But then again, Orient is all about visual clutter. That cheesy logo, for example. Legibility appears to be lousy, just based on the shots the reviewer shot. Painted counterbalances are gratuitous, confusing, and add to the visual clutter. What a hot mess.
