Also, I've heard that tourists do not have to pay taxes on watches that they purchase regardless of the number of watches or overall purchase price total. Nakano tends to have more high end stuff but I'm sure if you hunt around there you can find some. For more stuff like this I'd probably recommend looking in areas outside of nakano. Look for bookoff locations and check the Google photos to see if they have a section with watches before you head there. Akihabara will probably be picked over but I've heard they have a decent range in random second hand shops there too
I don't have much experience with the ones in Tokyo but from what I've heard, popular places like Akihabara aren't worth checking generally because they've been picked clean already. Look for "Bazar" or "Super Bazar" locations and if you check some of the Google review images you can usually see if they have any/many watches
2:36 SBDC181 is actually a Willard(not Turtle) collaboration with Helly Hansen,the Norwegian clothing manufacturer. 6r movement,not the 8L. Also the next watch is also a Willard. They look very similar. Crown guard is much more pronounced on the Willard. It's even said that the Willard is the(Og Turtle) 6309's daddy in the chronology.

I'd say these prices are fairly standard. If you're in Tokyo try Nakano Broadway. Most shops there have modern Rolex and omega, but there are some interesting little vintage shops tucked away too
That's a good question 🤣 I usually look for ones with the "Super Bazar" name because they are the bigger stores with lots of items. That doesn't guarantee watches though

Often it's just luck finding the best deals. Second hand is the way to go at places like bookoff and 2nd Street. Just go into every shop you see and have a look 😅

I just saw a Full Metal Blue Camo G-Shock Square (GMW-B5000TCF) for 90000yen. I think that's about $560 right now. That's not bad, especially if the watch was kept in good condition.

@sympathic21 it really depends on what you're looking for. I think most stores have rolex, there are a lot of smaller stores with antique watches. You can treasure hunt by searching google maps in the area you're staying in

If new, look at somewhere like bic camera and either get tax free or sign up to their points program for 10% store credit. If I went slower I'd have been there close to an hour and those reflections didn't help with focus but appreciate the feedback and if I go back will keep it in mind 👍

Yep. Bookoff is a buy and sell shop. They have people walk in all the time to sell stuff. They don't pay particularly good prices to sellers though

Japan is pretty strict with fakes and bookoff inspects watches before they buy them so it would have to be a pretty good fake to get past them

All the bookoffs I've been in were only books, but there is 2nd Street, Treasure Factory, probably many more too.
