Welcome to my channel!
My plan was to review Japanese horror movies, but it seems like my comparison videos between Asian horror movies and their remakes are more popular.
We'll see where my channel heads in the end :)
You can read my reviews of Japanese horror movies at my blog "Children of Sadako" and Korean horror movies at "Red Lotus Cinema".

The comment section is where weebs go to say the same old thing over and over. Oh and: Ringu<The Ring Ju-On>The Grudge
when i watch in Rings in 2017 version, Sadako Ringu's english name is Samara Morgan
1:20 Ringu - schoolgirl's The Ring - schoolwhore's
Yep, in this case the original is way better, a very terrifying movie with very good original ideas. The remake is good to.
Great, now I dies in seven days 😅
Cindy, the TV is leaking!
I guess the samurai died too?
I prefer the one from scary movie, much scarier than these two
There is no reason for the American version to exist.
Both are good, u.s just has more budget compared to the original.
My personal TOP of Ju-On movies: 1. Ju-On: The Curse (2000) 2. Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) 3. Ju-On: The Curse 2 (2000) 4. Ju-On: The Grudge 2 (2003) 5. Ju-On: Black Ghost (2009) 6. Sadako vs. Kayako (2016) 7. Ju-On: The Beginning of the End (2014) 8. Ju-On: The Final Curse (2015) 9. Ju-On: White Ghost (2009) 10. The Grudge (2004) 11. The Grudge 2 (2006) 12. The Grudge 3 (2009) 13. The Grudge (2020)
damn that was embarrassing lmao- one of the most unsettling scenes in horror was made into that???? absolutely diabolical. after i saw people commenting about lake mungo i realized americans just don’t like fridge horror 💀 it all has to be surface level and easily understandable. the movies that don’t read as horror unless you’re paying attention or tragedies disguised as horror are always so interesting. i love me a good cheesy jumpscare but sometimes subtly really makes a movie better.
Sadako became a moe character
The Korean actress facial expression is all the same: a blank face staring without emotions. Japanese actress did pretty well in delivering the emotion in each scene. the OG Ring is among the best than the remakes.
the edit and shots on US version makes it look like an action movie the japan version is mostly steady long shots with minimal sound effect makes it a lot creepier
Both the original and the remake are excellent. However, the original is clearly scarier in its representation of ghosts.
Herro?
Can't find the 2008 version anymore
For me nothing is better than the first Ju-On the curse tv movie of 2000, it is the one I re-watch the most, never liked Ju-On White Ghost apart from the poor guy delivering the Christmas cake in his santa outfit, good acting from him.
I only like Ringu and Ringu 0. Ringu 2 and Rasen have thier problems but still better than the American remakes and recent sadako 3D films. Just like Ju on they should of quit while they were ahead
The thing about many Hollywood films is that they aren't efficient. They just move the camera, zoom in, jumpcut, all with overly dramatic filters and overacting. Japanese horror is a perfect example of how to efficiently set a scene and emphasize specific elements. In Ring, for example, when Sadako comes out of the TV there is a strong difference between the real world's normal lighting and the tape's altered blue colors. In The Ring, both worlds have the same coloration, so the effect of Samara coming out ends up looking cheaper. Then Samara does a small static effect. Why? Why can't she be entirely fleshed out like Sadako is?
why is my phone ringing?
Kairo is one of my all-time favorite movies so when I saw they were releasing an American version I stayed away. All these years later it's good to see I made the right choice. God, it looks even worse than I thought it would.
Ring is the better one despite being a remake. The cinematography is superior by many leagues, so is the acting. The people defending Ringu are lying to us and to themselves, they think a movie is good simply by virtue of being "not western". Ringu is not scary, the acting is bad, and it sues cheap scary music where it doesn't fit. Ring is actually scary.
www Ringu 🤣🤣🤣
I actually find the tv scene scarier in the American version. The moment where she "glitches" like tv static and suddenly is in front of him nearly gave me a heart attack the first time.
I had no idea there was an American attempt at Kairo... How ridiculous. The original ass absolutely perfect and unrepeatable.
Rungu in color is better. Why is the US blue in our movie lol
Never stare at the eye of Samara sadako
American version is better, sorry to all the pretentious weebs
Oh my god you totally did you a hoe
Aw man you cut out the freakiest part in the American sequel, when Samara jolts up out of the water a 2nd time with the music sting
I watch 1 review with the Grudge as its topic and now my TH-cam is filled with Kayako thumbnail jumpscares.
Idk about y'all but I saw the American Shutter first when I was a child and I remember it till this day. And ngl, American Jane had more emotion than the Thai Jane. Thai Ben and American Ben 50/50, they tie for this one
Come back making videos again
Good job dreamworks pictures
What I don’t get is, why do Asian horror (All over Asia) has so creepy atmosphere and even monsters come out of morning so that means you can die both but in American the atmosphere is just like it’s trying too hard to make it scary and night so monsters can appear..
The ring is actually a pretty good adaptation. I like both.
What's ironic is that the same actress Amber Tamblyn fell victim to Sadako and Kayako's curses LOL
there's no comparison one was made in 1999 and the other 2005 technology was behind in 99 than 2005 special effects were different but as far as how it was written i believe 99 was way better and more believable the ending way better
Ringu 2 the Ring 2 sadako is fast then better than Samara morgan
I just sent for this when I saw this review and had a panic attack that I'd bought the wrong one. Because I generally despise American remakes and mine was titled Pulse. (You see I didn't know there WAS an American remake). But, to my relief, it says (Kairo) in parentheses like so. It arrives tomorrow. I have seen it before but I want it for my collection.
the movie make the ringu tasakayaki
Both versions are good. The Japanese version is more original, especially because it is the first, and I also find it little scarier in some aspects. However, the American version has some production values and direction that I find somewhat lacking in the Japanese version. I think one film is better directed and better acted about. Overall, both have their own merits and demerits.
There are very few American horror movies that I feel are good. Asian horror is so much more terrifying to me. I feel like even when an American movie starts off good, the ending always ruins it. Example “Mama”. At the end of “Mama”, they made the ghost relatable, like you feel sorry for it. I don’t want to feel sorry for it, I want it to leave me with an unsettling feeling, the ending of “Mama” did not do that at all.
Thanks for showing us this. The original has not so much shadows like the remake and Sadako isn't so pale like Samara, but these make the original not less scary. But I feel also sorry for Sadako/Samara...
The remake shows how CGI makes a movie unscary.
O melhor de todos foi o do ano de 2005 pois foi assustador e os atores atuaram muito bem
Korea ringu eye very cute
Japanese best ghost movie
