This has been a brilliant window - why all the negativity?? Mitchell has been excellent. He has got the job done with Miggy (at long last where others have failed), he's pulled a masterstroke with Kelly. He's also lined up a load of youngsters some of whom will be sold if we do need to ease any potential PSR issues in the future. By resisting any signings now the 70m from 21/22 drops off. So we should never have any embarrassing PSR issues again. All in all we will probably have about £200m to spend in the summer because of this. (Plus anything raised from Kraft, Longstaff, the release of Wilson etc). We will also sign Calvert Lewin on a free and flog him for £30m in January. Howe just needs to sort his tactics out and get us 4th.

The joelinton scenario i honestly think its a tactic from him and eddie to let Arsenal think hes injured. I could be way of the mark but for some reason i think he will be playing.

Even with a 2-0 lead we are nervous as hell and that is down to how the team does not inspire confidence. We never are sure if they will turn up when it matters. We are in poll position and it feels like we are the ones who are two goals down. I squarely blame the manager for this debacle. He does not rotate his squad, does not make changes early enough and plays the players until they are injured or dead on their feet. We have the smallest squad in terms of starters, same guys playing week in week out, while the others are under utilised. He did not even give Osula as many chances as he had given Hall and Miley last season. In terms of transfers, Eddie does not have the pull that would allow players to join the toon even in the loan market. He is only interested in signing PL proven or big money players while the Mackems just signed Enzo Le Fee on loan and he is already tearing it up at the stadium of shite. I hope we go through but would not be surprised if we capitulate. And I hope we do not need Wilson tomorrow. That is a situation that should be avoided.

I have a theory which I hope is wrong. Two years ago when Newcastle got to the Carabao Cup Final the team's form fell away quite badly in the week's before. We then went into the final out of form and lost to a Man Utd team that we have pretty much bossed in every other game for three years. I see the same signs this time and suspect some of the players are holding something back in matches so as not to get injured for the final. Since the Arsenal game the team has lacked any intensity (Bournemouth, Southampton and Fulham). I think some of them think that we're already in the final and don't want to miss out by overdoing it or picking up an injury. I can't think of any other reason for the lack of intensity versus Bournemouth and Fulham. It was certainly what happened two years ago and many of the players are the same now. I hope I'm wrong because it really would reflect a small club mentality.

However this window is much different as we are in a great position to qualify for Europe, and, with all around us reinforcing their squads, the necessity to add to our squad is compelling.We, in theory would be in the same position as we would have been if we’d bought Guehi, and that is to sell an elite player. The riches gained by playing in CL can be substantial so the necessity to reinforce is a “no brainer” Also at the next PSR accounting window £70m drops off our losses so we are substantially better off plus the sales this window amounting to £31m plus we have spent nothing in 3 previous windows. I have a theory, right or wrong, that the decision to sack Eddie Howe has already been taken and that all monies will be spent by Mitchell and the new manager in the summer. Mitchell, far from being the second coming, is very moderate at his job. A careful study of his CV confirms as much. Finally you brought up the subject of Lloyd Kelly in a way that questioned his ability. One or two games at a new club, when we know it can take months to settle in, is not enough to make a judgement. Yes he came on a free but there would have been a sizeable signing on fee, and I feel Juventus may just know what they’re talking about, especially at £20m

3 windows zero signings (two under Teflon Paul) - Zero support from Mitchell for Howe & if im reading right, we will only have a budget of about £50mn in the summer - We are being primed for the sale of Isak Bruno and/or Gordon in the summer. If we do not get CL they will sack Eddie Howe and that will be the biggest mistake they can make.
