Under the highways and through the woods in this soggy fall ride we go! #beta #betaxtrainer
Late fall ride that started out dry and gradually got slick. First rain we’ve had in a while mixed with leaves over top of hidden rocks and logs made for a fun day until I pinched the rear tube.

1975 Suzuki TS125 "Duster" just needed a little tweaking to make a great running bike

Finally getting around to the '75 TS125 Duster that I picked up from Mid Ohio 2023. In this video I get her running good with a little help from my friends at Cautrell Vintage Cycles. Make sure you hit them up if you are looking for any parts. They deal with all different brands and are always a pleasure to deal with. cautrellvintagecycles@yahoo.com profile.php?id=100090832974238

Beautiful work!!
Right on!
Looks good
Thanks!
Nice area to ride for sure. I'm a local guy. I wanted to ask you a few questions regarding splitting my cases to re build the bottom end on my Yz250.
Hi there! you can email me at matt.garage2trail@gmail.com. I will try to help but have only split two engines so far. Both on 50+ year old bikes lol
Sounds good
Thanks!
Super tractor getting up that :-)
First gear is the tractor gear! 😆
I know I like to fool around but a serious question for you. Is the suspension tolerable in rocky and uneven unstable ie babyheads conditions? I’m serious about picking one up if possible 😎
It’s surprisingly stable for a 79 dual shock bike but it has its limitations of course. It has better suspension than the 1980 TS185 that I had and also the 1981 XL500S that I had…both with dual shocks
So thankful for this DR focused content. Just bought an 83 that was restored a few years ago and hasn't done much work since, just sitting in a garage. Not running as yet ...will check fuel, air and spark, then take it from there. No doubt I'll be watching your vid as assist when probing the valves and carb. Happy days!
Awesome, glad to help! I have an ‘86 DR200 sitting in storage that I’ll be getting to eventually too on the channel. Good luck with yours!
if you put that carb boot in a bag of ArmorAll for a couple of days it will be like new. It restores them chemically.
Good to know! I’ll have to try that sometime. Thank you!
She’s a runner digging them blue bars as well!!!! January 12th is new date for York!!!!
That looks so awesome!
Looks like fun
👍
Sweet!
I'm in the Middle of Restoring a 1971 RT1 And building a motor for a CT2 . CT2 is gonna have a down pipe And a high compression head gonna do a few modifications to this one.
Nice! Do you know if the MX models came with a high compression head or was that an upgrade? Wondering if my CT3 has the high comp head on it.
@Garage2Trail Yamaha didn't make a high compression head for the CT. I have a after market AKC Radius high compression head for mine. Yamaha didn't make a GYT kit for the CT's only the AT's.They started making the 175 mx in1974
@ ahh good to know, thank you!
Hey, nice bike. Years ago I owned the big sister of this bike: the Yamaha DT400; such nice memories...it's all coming back seeing you go through the woods... Two of my friends had Yamaha XT500's, and we always had that competition between the 4 strokers and my 2 stroker, such a fun we had. And above all...why o why did I sell my Yamaha DT400...? You do can bring the fork back to the right height and strength again, by getting Hyperpro progressive springs in your fork legs. Even the rear suspension can easily being upgraded by Hyperpro suspension, you wouldn't recognize your own bike anymore; so well this Hyperpro progressive will be. I have had many bikes over the years, and in the end I swapped all OEM suspension sets for Hyperpro progressive, because there really is nothing to be compared to these progressive set-ups: front and rear.
Thanks! I’d love to find a DT400 sometime. Would be cool to feel the difference. I have a DT360A that I’ve only ridden on the road a bit and I can tell they are torquey. Thanks for the info on the shocks and springs! I’ll keep it in mind.
What ever you do, do not try to bypass the oil injection system. These feed oil to the crankshaft first, unlike most that feed it straight to the piston..
Yup, I made sure the pump is working and pushing oil through both lines
Okay, now try that same run with the yamaha ct3😂🤣 And you'll know what it was like With only three inch shock travel back in the day.
That’s asking for punishment lol
of course they can handle it
Great ride
Thanks!
Very good camera angle. I'm used to it, but not totally convinced by the 'fish eye' type lens on this trip particularly. Probably makes the roadside drops look worse than they are.😁 "Let you off the hook that easy?".
What state do you live in?
PA
Absolutely love this content!
Thanks! I try to change it up a bit. Wrenching and riding the old bikes and showing the modern bike rides too
An awesome place to ride.
We are lucky to still have this much!
@ yes you are.
Nice
That had me on the edge of my seat! I think I rode the northern part of that a couple times 20 years ago.
Oh yeah? Who are some of the guys you rode with back then? The guys I’m riding with here have been riding this stuff since the late 90s
@@Garage2Trail Oh man, let me think. I don't want to disclose the location, but i'm pretty sure it's the same place. Jeff Herald, Bob Thompson, Al Klug, Ductape, Joe Harvey. Stan Marshall. I started a dual sport club around 19 years ago, but it's splintered up in the last decade.
I rode with Ductape last year! I don’t recognize the rest of those names though.
@@Garage2Trail Awesome!
@@RogerMudd-gh4ms real nice guy. Definitely a character!
Your living the dream!
So blessed to have an awesome riding area. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! We are lucky to still have this much with all the development in this area.
❤Esta es una de mis motos preferidas.
Love all my 81/82 xr200r's they run hard all day, hope you get yours up and running again 👊🇦🇺
Thanks! I’m planning on splitting the motor this winter to get her back on the trail. 🍻
Another nice playground. Rubber inserts between the fins can help with the famous yammy top end noise - think they came as standard. If missing, cut up auto crank breather hose will fit ok (l did a TY175 once)
Thanks for the tip! This one is definitely loud lol
👍
Good technique! If you are finding the suspension on the 'trainer lacking, look up the ktech orvs kit 👍🏻
Thanks for the heads up!
@@Garage2Trail also, dont know if available in the US, but my riding matey has fitted a Motoes pipe on his 'trainer and it has really transformed the power - really torquey ..... like a different bike.
Looks like so much fun!
was thinking of selling my tw after seeing your video i will never part with it
It’s a one of a kind bike!
👍
You have a great set of playgrounds :-)
I used to ride my 74 ts125 20 miles to high school every day in 90s
Use hot water!
Thats a hard way of a ride
I wonder how many go through there giving it the beans for the audio and then spin up :-)
Fun
Is it worth it? It doesn’t give you much more Torque does it? Thanks
Yeah it does help quite a bit over stock. If you did the full upgrade with the cam, then it would be a little fire breather!
Oh yeah!
