Excellent footage encapsulating this event! Appreciate the time you spent putting this together. My buddy's nearly finished freshening up his '73 AT3 125. Fun little bikes. Congrats on getting the 175.
Great video! Sorry about the countershaft but you proved that,in the hands of a good rider, early’80s XR Hondas can still be formidable woods weapons! Can’t wait to watch you get that CT3 running!! Thanks for Sharing!
Thank you! I think with a fresh motor and rear suspension, this bike has so much more left to do. I got the forks dialed in pretty good, not that rear shock needs some help. I’ll focus on that motor first though. I too am kinda anxious to get working on that 175 too!
Great day out and the countershaft story that stuff makes my day wish we had something like a swap meet near where i live . enjoyed the racing some of those guys don't take any prisoners .
Yeah those guys on the modern bikes were chasing points…not sure why they lumped the XRs in at the same time as them lol. So many good people that show up. I talked to so many random vendors that were all very nice and helpful.
The 200R was a dream bike from my early teens, never got one. Glad to see it was actually doing pretty well until the output shaft failure. I guess sometimes it is ok to meet your heroes!
Sorry you weren't able to finish your scramble but there's always next year I suppose ! Excellent video loved it all ! I never get to this show but still like to take a wander through the swap meet area and look for parts for a bike of mine ! Is schedule out for this event next year, would really like to give it a try and see how lucky I can get with parts i need ! Thanks for sharing !😊😊😊
Thanks…one way to look at it is it will give me a chance to freshen up the motor in the process being as good as new for next year! I haven’t seen any release yet for next year yet but they usually don’t wait too long. The swap meet is my favorite part of the whole thing.
A friend of mine had a 1983 Honda XR200R and he had the same problem with the shaft . He brought his brand new in 83 . If i remember correctly he welded his new sprocket to shaft . I know that is not the proper way but it was his idea of a quick fix as he had turned 16 and got his drivers licenses.
Wonder if that was a known issue for 83 XRs that were pushed hard enough? I cringe when I see people welding sprockets, shifters and kick starters to shafts 😆
I love the vid, but if I may, I would like to point out one shortcoming. I am old enough, and experienced enough to know not all of these bikes are "Vintage bikes". And I have known that for about 40 years now. :) Doug in Michigan
Thanks Doug! Yeah, there are quite a few modern bikes there too. It’s really a celebration of all things with wheels and motors that’s not a car or truck lol
I know exactly what bike you are talking about! Unfortunately I was just randomly recording and didn’t get the number. No idea if it sold or not. Gorgeous bike.
Question. It's been 20 years since I have been there. Do they allow un licensed pit bikes? They stopped them the last time I was there. Now that my dad is older he can't do all the walking. Thanks ✌
But the AMA had nothing to do with the production and development of the bikes, (back then when we were free to build and sell what we wanted to.). Why should the banner give them credit for something they never did? All they were suppose to do is make the rules for racing, not take over the sport behind the FIM. Have a "racing rule" festival. These bikes were built with free enterprise in a more free peoples hands, and they created the industry. Give it back to the rightful owners, and have a 'racing rule" festival for your accomplishments.
That was awesome to see and hear all the vintage bikes of my youth. Amazing!
Wow Man !
Trip down Memory Lane for a 60 year old Scotsman !
Excellent !!!!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! 🍻
Great video bro. I saw every dirt bike I have ever wanted. Lol
Thank you Phil! There is just so much to see there…what I had on video is just a fraction of what’s actually there

Thank you! I try to get as much as possible but there is still a lot I didn’t get to show. I spent 80% of my time in the swap meet lol

Sorry for your loss. Enjoy the process
Can’t thank you enough for taking the time to make this video. Thanks for sharing. Wish I was closer to Ohio. Maybe PA next year?
Thank you for the kind words and for tuning in!
Nice video, finally after all these years some of our bikes made it ti video! GT185 Hodaka Ace KZ650 Daytona Special, thanks again!
Awesome! Glad I was able to capture them for you! Beautiful bikes by the way 👍
@@Garage2Trail come visit us next year, North campground.
Hello fellow youtuber @3.43 is Our spot. glad you had a good time just like we did.
Hey there! I was wondering how many other TH-camrs would be there! 🍻

I appreciate that! This bike will be back and ready next time!
Great video! I was there for the first time, it was amazing. We were in the spots right behind Brendan.
Thank you! That’s cool you got to meet Brendan and his family. Great group of people!
15:25, holy smokes! If that looks steep on camera, I can’t even begin to imagine how steep it is in real life .
That race footage was rad. Bummer about the counter shaft
Thanks Chuck, yeah I was really bummed I didn’t get to do a full lap. Oh well, gives me more video material lol

The weather really cooperated for the 2024 VMD .
For sure!
Glad to see you know how to vote 👍👍😎
Oh there’s no question there!
2:20. The 1980's Honda XR bike.
It took about 40 years of riding, but it finally broke down right there. :)
Yup that was pre race footage 😆
Very cool.
I like that 175 yamaha

I could spend days at the swap meet
I spent most of my time there actually lol
CT 175 Just wondered what that cut off black pipe on right side of carb is for, on some models isn't that the oil feed from the pump?
Yessir you are correct. Someone had just ran premix. I may just hook it back up if the pump still works.
I just used electro osmosis to clean out a rusty tank ..... try it on the yammy?
Nice bike - its all there :-)
Thanks for the pointer! I may have to try that
My most watched video this month it has got every thing
Thanks Paul!
The DR500 @ 9:43 in the video. What's the telephone ☎️ number?
Did it sell? Thanks John C.
I know exactly what bike you are talking about! Unfortunately I was just randomly recording and didn’t get the number. No idea if it sold or not. Gorgeous bike.
Hey brother
When is the next one in PA?
The next big one is in January in York PA I believe
Question. It's been 20 years since I have been there. Do they allow un licensed pit bikes? They stopped them the last time I was there. Now that my dad is older he can't do all the walking. Thanks ✌
Yup allow them now! They stopped allowing side by sides in the swap meet are which was really nice too
@@Garage2Trail Thanks man. Maybe I can get my Dad to go again next year God willing.
No problem!
That sucks about the shaft.
Yeah stuff happens…gives me an excuse to refresh that engine
Sucks I was too busy to go. Are you from Ohio?
No I’m from Pittsburgh…roughly 3 hours away
Amazing show but you take your life in your hands trying to walk on foot around there, won't be back
