I dont know if you have heard the 2 vintage you tube chanel he has been working on bikes and atvs since he was a kid he is stil in his 20s but he is definitly a expert at it
I really don't see the problem with smoking the house with the beautiful aroma of burnt 2 stroke fuel! lol. Another great video. Glad you are making short work on these.
I had one of these when I was a child. Was used and it always fouled the spark plug. It stranded me too many times so I sold it, I wasnt aware how to fix back then. But it was really fun when it ran.
I keep an extra plug on me when riding it just because I’ve heard that same thing from others. Probably because they called for 20:1 premix and the older oils weren’t as good as what we have today
Thanks! I put that video out on Friday…it’s a blast back in the woods! Let’s see what the PE250 is all about back on the trails th-cam.com/video/gsG93CQet3Q/w-d-xo.html
That looks like a pretty straight original bike. The plastics look like they’re correct too. That multi tool was mounted to the top of the forks with rubber O rings ex factory. It’s a Suzuki so of course it’ll run 😎
Great bike! I recall it's a very heavy drinker. I would check the rubber bushes between the shocks and swingarm and frame, or maybe the creaking sound when you started it was just the loose seat.
I could be wrong, but from the bedspring sounds from the rear shocks, I would bet real money that this thing has a set of Curnutt shocks- they were really good, but always sounded like a bag of bedsprings...
Thanks for the new video! I would say that the fitted pilot was 37.5 (wierd mikuni!) and less than a turn out, l would go richer on the pilot jet. Watch that front sprocket - bit sharky!
Back in 79 my buddy had the 79 PE250 while l had the 79 RM125 , we both run Bel-Ray MC-1 50:1 , l raced A-class mx & harescrambles & he raced B-class enduro's , motors were very reliable & run crisp , Bel-Ray MC-1 is available today & is the only oil l've burned in every 2st l've raced since , currently racing a KTM 300xcw . Twin-Air probably still make's a air filter for the PE 250 , they still make one for my 78 RM 250C , l remember riding that PE 250 & really enjoyed its torque while in the woods .
@@chopperenduro6590 awesome! I’m thinking on racing it next year at Mid Ohio in their vintage harescramble. Just need to dial this one in…new brakes and tires are up next. I really like this bike! Good to know I can run 50:1. I’m afraid of fouling her out.
@@Garage2Trail That PE would really be perfect at Mid-Ohio when its wet & sloppy , fresh meat & that torque would keep you hooked up & moving forward to a good result . One full year to prep it for Vintage Days 2025 so have fun with it .
Hey that's great I just picked up a '79 PE 250 2 days ago and there's no gas in it so I couldn't test start it or drive it and I guess from putting out the truck and taking off a little gas got freed up and went into the carburetor and then I was testing it it fired right up and ran like a champ. Great bikes. Hey does your friend have any extra shocks? Mine are toast. And a headlight and a tail light. Any help would be appreciated, thank you
Very cool! I’ll ask him…in my next video I’ll be mentioning his business which he deals with bikes and parting bikes out. Keep and eye out for that one!
Another 2 stroke saved. Nice job. What a great bike.
Thanks! This bike is a keeper for sure
Perfect project. When you kicked it over, all the memories came back for me. How lovingly obnoxious it sounds. 💪👍
It’s an awesome bike for sure! Quickly becoming a favorite classic of mine. Probably because of that sound 😆
Great job brother. I love saving these old bikes.
Thank you! It’s addicting…especially when things go smoothly 😀

Not an expert but he does get his hands dirty’

It is a great smell isn’t it? There really needs to be a yankee candle scent of it lol. Thanks Chuck!

I rode one with fox air shocks and a fork kit by Simon's I belive, and that was the nicest turning bike man
That’s awesome…I’d love to find a pair of fox shocks for this thing…very pricy though!
It sounds good. Can't wait to see it out in the woods.

Instant like, always watch the whole video. Like hanging out with an old friend in the shop
Thanks buddy, I appreciate that! 🍻

Thanks for sharing! I’ll have to come up with an oring fastener to make that work
Awesome job, I have 84 XR 200r dual carb and a 78 TT 500 and love tinkering with them
Thank you! I’m sure you probably saw my other videos with the ‘83 XR200R that I got with this PE. One of my favorites for sure.
Lovely old bike 😍
Thank you sir!
Great bike! I recall it's a very heavy drinker. I would check the rubber bushes between the shocks and swingarm and frame, or maybe the creaking sound when you started it was just the loose seat.
that creaking sound is the springs…they are quite noisy lol. I can’t wait to get this one on the trails. I’ll be sure to have a full tank 👍

You are dead on Dave! It’s those shocks that are noisy like that lol. It’s a good thing the bike is so loud so you can’t hear it when riding 😆
Thanks for the new video!

Watch that front sprocket - bit sharky!
Thank you! Once I get that air filter in I’ll mess with that air screw again I’m sure. Yeah that sprocket is just about dead 😆
PS, we used to run 25:1 back in the day typically.
A bit Smokey and we oiled a few plugs but we never seized them 😂
But the oil wasnt nearly as good as it is now. 50 to 1 is more than enough with modern oil
That was my reasoning. Using good old Yamalube!

that airbox design is crazy
Very original still has the plug spanner bracket on the right side triple clamp
So that’s what that’s for! Thank you!
Sounded great.
Thanks!
@@Garage2Trail i need to bring my ktm 360 back. I bought in 97. Needs cleared out and washed. Ill never ride it like used too. Bike was sassy

Thanks! I didn’t take that as disrespect 😀. Yeah 2vintage is a great channel. I don’t know how he can get through so many bikes that fast!
Thank you for the compliment and for watching by the way! 👍
Lucky man !
Was that a fart at 28:07? 😂 anyway, nicely done!
Never mind. Tires squeaking on floor. My apologies. lol

No worries! Lol
