My father was Hungarian and left in January 1957 after the uprising and married a local English woman. I visited Budapest fir the first time last June and it was a very wonderful experience. In my childhood i remember going to the local market hall in my home town which had something we called the 'Polish' market but there was lots of Hungarian Salami, bacon, sausages and pickles too. I remember eating a lot of pig products.. pig feet and cheeks set in some sort of paprika braun, a kind of savoury jelly. We had stuffed cabbage and a sort of pork/paprika meat ball too. I became a vegetarian in later life, mainly due to marrying a vegetarian, so didn't sample any of these fine foods when i visited, but next time I will! I realise how much i miss it! Thank you for your videos! The fried pork fat is called 'pork scratchings' in the UK!

Good to know when I go there for vacation and try and work on family history

TikTok about Budapest is the best place to search for places you DON'T wanna go as a local as it's super overcrowded by tourists 😀 And if you visit a country just to get candy, visit cat cafe, club or some run of the mill social media hyped restaurant/bar, your travel rights should be revoked. Budapest is full of history, architecture, culture, nice views. Just use public transport to go into the 5th/6th district and walk around. Hop on the 2/23/2B tram at Jászai and take a scenic ride to the Parlament. Walk across the multiple bridges. Have a picnic on Margitsziget. Check out the Danube and the lit up Chain bridge by night. Go to the Heroes square and visit a museum/exhibition. After that walk around in Városliget. These are all free and much more interesting and Budapest-y than Éhes Mókus or that restaurant or clubbing

My girlfriend and I are currently in Budapest and we are loving the city so pretty and knowing some words will be awesome thank you. We went to the Pál-völgyi-barlang and Szemlő-hegyi-barlang both so beautiful.

Last time I was there was in (I think) 2006 or 07 with my parents and back then they required a dress code. No jeans and T-Shirt allowed. Is it stil like that?

The cruise might be an interesting idea for a date, if you're interested in something relaxing where you can easily talk, but the Exhaust fumes were a bit annoying, on our boat.
