Ford GT40P Heads -Junkyard Restoration Part II
This is the second and last video of the junkyard GT40P head restoration. In this video we review all the thread sizes in the head and clean all threaded holes.
In order to build more power cheaply, we pull a set of GT40P cylinder heads off of a 2000 Ford Explorer at the local you pull it junkyard. These are an improvement over the factory E7TE heads mainly due to their larger ports and eliminated "smog" system. We will compare the two heads more closely in a future video.
We review:
- All thread sizes in the heads
- Chase/clean all threads
- Disassemble complete
- Clean/Carbon Removal
- Valve Lapping
- Upgraded Trick Flow Valve Spring installation TFS-2500100
- Paint
The next videos will be Crown Vic related, or we will start the Mustang Turbo Build.

94-95 Mustang Alternator Relocation
มุมมอง 12421 วันที่ผ่านมา
In order to prepare for the 302 GT45 eBay turbo installation, we need to make room for the turbo by relocating the alternator farther inboard towards the center of the engine. This is accomplished by replacing the stock 1995 Ford Mustang 3G alternator with a modified one from a 2004 Mercury Sable or Ford Taurus 3.0L DOHC, which is a 4G Ford alternator. The 4G is narrower, allowing us to put the...

    In the Mopar world, a good, inexpensive head upgrade for street performance small block (non-Magnum) is the '89-'92 "308" casting found on the 360/5.9 engine. Do just a little clean up, block the air injection ports, multi-angle valve job and they work very, very well on the cheap. Not every build needs crazy, overly cost-intensive

      @@CTOWNGARAGE I have no videos released on it. I can if you need it. You can use a single 30A Bosch style relay on a switch. When you switch on the relay. The relay will connect the necessary wires from the DTR transmission range sensor to make the computer think it’s in drive. When switch is off. The wires disconnect to make the car think it’s in neutral. Take the DTR sensor apart. And examine it. It’s a lever with copper contacts. That are connecting and disconnecting the wires that go to the sensor. After some studying and examining it you should be able to figure it out. Just took an 800 mile trip using cruise control. Note that I would not engage the relay at any time except when you need cruise control. This affects the tune.

      @@TheMissingxtension Yes you could use a factory ECU case if you wanted. Hollow it out and wire in the Speeduino. That’s an option. I think the v0.4 board would be better for that. I don’t see an advantage to running 2 ECUs. I’m not sure how you would sync them up. I suppose your timing degrees and offsets for the cam and crank sensors would have to be carefully planned out and measured. And you would have to wire the sensors in parallel. Or have two separate sensors for each ECU. If your interest is to run full sequential on a V8 there are other ECUs capable of that that are available. You could probably run dual O2 sensors as is. With one of the spare analog input pins and some code changes. If you have that skillset go for it and try it. My coding skills are not at that level yet.

    Just a thought but could you not use the ford setup like on the explorer or how the 96-98 mustangs were done with 2 coil packs and plug wires that way you could make your wires with 90 degree elbows to the length you need and you would not have to worry about how to mount the LS setup on your valve covers or your wire problem. Not that what you are doing is not awesome cause it is very much so. Just trying to help with the spark plug issue. Thanks

    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@douglasvance9444 Yes you could use Ford coils from an explorer or mustang but you need an external ignitor wired in. The Speeduino outputs a 5 volt square wave to trigger the coils. You must use coils that can accept that signal. Like a smart coil. There are individual coils available(such as LS type which are widely available and cheap). Coil on plug. And coils packs. If you can’t run a smart coil like I do, you will need an additional ignitor. There are many Bosch units available. Or I’ve seen ones from a Toyota 2JZ engine used. I didn’t research these much because they seemed expensive. Require an additional connector. And complicate the wiring. Plus. Where the stock explorer coils mounted it would have interfered with my boost supply plumbing from the intercooler.

    Thank you for making such a detailed video of this process, it is super helpful for me trying to figure out some of this stuff on my 302. Question... if I needed to pass emissions could I remove a block off plate for my EGR, connect the appropriate sensors and have the Speeduino account for that on the software side? I understand the hardware side, but the software side is completely foreign to me. I'd rather not piggyback off the OEM (don't have a working ECU currently), what I'm getting at is, is their existing software available to account for misc accessories w/ the speeduino without having coding experience? I'm in Arizona, which is super strict on emissions, so if anyone has other suggestions/workarounds I'm open ears.

    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Kevin-q9d7qI am not aware of any Speeduino that can control an EGR valve. I am not familiar with Arizona emissions laws. I would research your state laws and see what the requirements are based on the model year of your car. I’ve seen some states that require a visual inspection. Perhaps if you have it installed. But not electrically wired up. You may be ok?

    You could also always localized groups of wiring together and twos or threes well I guess twos.. that way you could stick to a certain amount of current obviously you'll have differences in voltage because of different resistances.. it's not like their signal wires.. you know what I'm saying you can group them all up like one..clip and pin proper insulation and resistance
