Hi Cassanda, glad to hear your doing well with your instructor career, welcome back!
Thanks, Michael! Good to be back :) hope you're doing well!
It’s good to know what could happen. Delta lost a really good flight attendant over not investigating and correcting their mistake. Airlines do take time very seriously so I can understand the other two, but I still think it would have been good for them to give you one more chance. There’s very little understanding in the work world these days. Irony is that majority of workers who are already employed make little mistakes every day and they aren’t terminated. Karma has its way with people, so it’s good to keep moving forward. Good on you for moving on.
Yesssss another ASMR VOICE LIKE MEEEEEEEEEEEE❤❤❤❤
Well being late most jobs don't have a lot of tolerence for that. Plus, an airplane has to be detained, and cannot take off until all crew is there. So you hold up a whole plane, plus crew. People on a plane might have connections. The one where they called the wrong person in the system. That should have not been counted, and waved as it is not your fault. Airlines seem to have no mercy, or compasion. I gathered this by watching videos on training, and flight attendant. Some of the rules are stupid.
3 year old story but it still strikes a nerve with me. Having been in the airline industry over 20 years I am actually so tired of this. The airline companies are not perfect yet they expect perfection from their staff. Everything is a test and everything puts you in disciplinary action. The airline industry needs to change and if they don't then people should not promote the airline industry as a career. The other side is the union does not act in the best interest of the employees. The union acts in its own best interest which often is leveraging power against the company even if that is at your expense. With a union the company is shielded from legal action by am employee. If the union does not help you than you have now where to turn. I would never work with a union again because I have NEVER been treated fairly by the unions. Stay away from the airline industry you will never have rights or be treated fairly.
great video. honest. and upbeat.
Good attitude! I worked Ground for the commuter wing of a major US Airline! I jokingly called it the Civilian Military! But it taught me great discipline! I loved it!
Yeah, you’re too much of an airhead to be a pilot. Don’t know where you’re supposed to be, late, just an unorganized frazzled mess. Please please for the love of God tell me you’re not a pilot now.
i feel this 100%, i was terminated while on APPROVE UPML, they didn’t give the option to do open policy and only the EEO appeal, but even with proof the EEO was not buying and stated it will take 45 days to finalize a decision. The FSMs weren’t even my FSMs and never met them who took my case to terminate me n they had me back and forth calling here and getting proof to tell me at the end that I was terminated. they violated HIPPA rights since FSMs aren’t allowed to view medical stuff or deal with anything related to medical documents and they ignored all proof and they tried so hard to make me believe i was at wrong, when nope my medical office made a mistake on the paperwork and there are proof and emails that the medical assistance sent me stating that she sent me the ones with the wrong date and was gonna correct them after she already sent them to the insurance part and it was a mess the suspension process and It’s heart breaking cause it was my dream and the hard work i put into getting into delta. a lot of FA that i know and even one of the appeal reps. told me she wished she could help because she can tell it wasn’t my fault but it’s the rest of the ppl on the panel and even my doctor said it was there mistakes and still didn’t care.
I think the airlines expect way too much from all of their employees. You especially need a union.
If you are the type of person that is late, never on time or just barely gets there you arent FA material. The flight attendants i watch on YT always gives themselves extra extra time. I think you would have the same problems if you became a pilot
If excuses could be converted Into$$ you’d be rich
I find it odd that despite of you knowing the importance of being on time for duty, and even your dad is a pilot who probably mentioned to that to you as well; you don't seem to pay attention to this basic 101 of flight and cabin crew 101. You underestimated that, as it was only 10 minutes late, what the heck. This a wrong start in this field and make no mistake that it's not just Delta, but any airline major or regional will not accept this type of behavior. You need to sit with your self and try to correct your perception of airline operations job.
Time to abandon Delta when it comes to buyiing a ticket. Forget that outfit. As far as I am concerned, they do not exist. Cheers to all.
Coincides with new hiring practices.
So you were on reserve but you were not in your base ?!
So refreshing to see someone take ownership of their mistakes instead of blaming others.
You should’ve fought as hard as you fought after you knew your job your job was in jeopardy in your first six months. But life gives you lemons. I hope your dreams come true.
Currently thinking about changing careers and applying to be a flight attendant, thank you for the honesty of the job, videos are helpful to see, hear real experiences. Thinking of applying to Delta and United.
So glad to provide it for you! Both are great options :)
Great job, thank you!
any time!
I did a trip trade for another employee and worked the flight. She obviously didnt show up for the flight she was supposed to work. I was terminated for a missed trip. It made no sense to me. Lesson learned be aware and say no to trip trading if you dont know the person who your trying to help out. Two weeks later i found the trip trade paper work with both our signatures on it. I forgot to turn in my copy. They obviously received the other employees copy. I decided with all the mental, physical exhaustion, time spent at the airline not getting paid and more trouble than it was worth, i began to feel unappreciated and degraded in a thankless rudely environment that i did not want to fight for the job. Im glad to be out of there honestly.
Hi Cassandra, Do you have a video for weeks 7&8? Maybe I’m jaur not seeing it…
Looking beautiful you do amazing job ❤
Three strikes within a probationary period is excessive. My airline is 9 months probation.
I’m based in LGA/JFK as well this is definitely stressful being on time. 😢 lots of things going out of control and being late, gives me anxiety. Now I try to get there 1 hour before my sign in time , 2 hours before the departure. I rather wait than stressed out in the train or bus 😱
I’m so sorry for this happened to you! But when the airplane is late, your guys flight attendant don’t get paying. This is not make senses. 😢 is unfair 🥺🥺 I’m watch now, your became pilot?😍
Sadly she sounds pretty flakey in regards to her being “aware” of planning ahead, being sure she’s at the correct terminal and being accountable to time. Good thing she didn’t become a pilot because she just isn’t organized enough. Best wishes.

Hi Cassandra, great to see your doing well with your Aviation Career.
Hi Michael, thanks! I hope all is well with you :)
Are you close to getting your 1,500 hours to move to regional?
It's taking a bit, but getting there! Not sure if I'll go to a regional or what but we'll see :) how is everything going on your end?
@@CassandraRi best of luck, no matter what your future plans are! I’m great, living the aviation geek dream. :-)
@@IAD_Flyer thank you! I'll be sure to update when something changes :). You as well and I'm glad you're doing great!
That's me!!!!!
I dont hear much accountability / ownership from you. All lame excuses actually. You knew what the job requirements were . Maybe you just aren't commercial aviation material
I could get lost in them cleavs and that hair for that matter
The airline industry is unforgiving. Things happen for a reason. Keep your head up and live life! 💪🏽
You're too pretty to be a flight attendant. look into pharmaceutical sales for a well paying career.
I want to meet you. Let's do lunch. Don't be "late"!
Anytime minorities become the majority in a job sector the wages end up suppressed. Delta has so many minorities and that is why the wages are so low. Once the flight deck becomes more diverse you will see pilot wages suppress as well. The same thing happened with the post office and the big three automakers.
How ghetto was the atmosphere? Delta has the worst looking crew out of them all. They hire in old people, fat people, ghetto people, butch LGBT. It's the worse of the skies. These people are so depressing and ugly to look at and makes the flight unenjoyable.
Here is a Delta update as of December 2023. They make everyone promise not to tell, but since my friend didn't get the job I may as well talk about the Atlanta in person hiring event. This was sent to me and they'll probably get pissed about this and now they'll have to change things 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Their smiles are just facades and they will do what they can to make you feel as comfortable as possible at the event. You will see how they fool everyone at the end who didn't make it. They don’t want anyone going loony finding out they got a TBNT. As you leave you will smile back and everyone will clap and won't even realize you're on the cut list headed to the airport. If you stay behind you made it. When you’re name is called to get on the shuttle to go to the airport you’re done. Don't waste money on a hotel, just go in and leave the same day, it’s the same process whether or not you fly in the same day or the day prior. You will spend up to an hour in the lobby socializing with about 50-60 people and right there they start the process of who is going to get cut when you get a label for your temporary badge in the same lobby. It's typically the same guy from San Diego who is a long-term employee who will come to the lobby and greet you. They'll next separate everyone by the beginning letter of their last name to get a stick on label for the ID tag you get when you enter the property. At this point another flight attendant will take everyone in groups of 10 to an elevator to store your belongings on the third floor in a storage closet. You will go to a waiting area and a recruiter will select a candidate for interview and take you to a room with obscured glass windows named after a major US city. There is a lot of false friendliness going on, it’s all psychological, again they don’t want anyone inciting a conflict because people were peeved and rowdy in the past as they left. The recruiter will tell you about the position and ask two questions about a situation in a past job, what the situation was, how you handled it and the result etc. The recruiter will type your answers on a tablet. Next the recruiter in the same room will do a bag test to see how you handle a passenger with a roller board trying to get on the plane and there is no room onboard for that bag. After the bag test you will go into a room with two people seeing if you can reach a door handle, sit in a jump seat and be able to put the belt around your waste and shoulders. There is one recruiter who participates in this and he talks so fast you don’t even understand what he is saying to you. Asking anyone questions is a waste because, again, they know who is staying from your first visit in the lobby. Just do your basic chatting and also they want to see the “Real” you and for some people you will have to do the opposite and fool them. I know people who have the worst personalities and they charmed their way into the job and it worked and these are “trouble people” who look to instigate conflict with co-workers and management anywhere they go. Now here comes the group session. They’ll put people in groups of three to go into a cubicle and on a magnetic white board they will have scenarios you will have to put in order from most important to least important. As you’re doing this you will have to talk aloud as the recruiters type in your comments. You will need to have the 10 most important scenarios in a column on that board and transfer the list to another board. The two recruiters will ask everyone the same question about what strategies you used to put it in order and why you made your decision etc. The scenarios range from a bleeding cut to lost baggage, basically anything that can happen on an aircraft or in an airport. Keep in mind they do change the routine so in the next quarter this might not be a part of the process. You will go in another room and introduce yourself in a group, say your name, where you are from, what language you are most fluent in and what you do for a living, this one is fairly quick but from what has been said not everyone has to do this because most of these people are already on the cut list. Again, here comes the psychological part making you think everything is going smooth. Finally everyone will go into a seating area for a presentation. They will show you a video, how the schedule works, the average pay of about $830 a week before taxes, the lifestyle and everyone at this point feels confident. They will have at least three to four people talk their heads off about the position and lifestyle. The last presenter who speaks will talk about how 200,000 people applied and how everyone here is special because they made it to prestigious Atlanta. They ask everyone over and over to promise not to share any details on social media. Now here comes the best part on how they dispose of the deplorables. Instead of letting people know they didn’t make it, they smoothly get the deplorables out and off of the premises in a very clever way without anyone even knowing it. The presenters will thank everyone, get everyone to smile and clap, they tell everyone the session is concluded and “Everyone” will receive an email in about 10 days on the decision and that sweet Delta will handle all of the arrangements to get “Everyone” to the airport. A curtain in the room will open and you will see a long row of recruiters smiling in pairs. These recruiters will get into a path, and will be there on your way out into a hallway. Group one will be called, they will call about 15 to 20 names, people will clap and you will go to a storage room to collect your belongings. Group two, three, four, five, etc., will be called and each group will be off of the premises in the shuttle in less than three minutes. They do not want anyone loitering behind in the lobby, you are off the premises as if you were never there and it’s all smiles on your way out. When they are down to between 1-10 candidates these are the people who are offered the job and will stay behind to chat. Yes, even out of 50-60 people for some of these events only ONE person made it. What’s bad about this is for those who didn’t make it you will be sitting at the airport for a minimum of six to eight hours. If your name is called to get to the shuttle you are not getting the job, they are getting you out of there ASAP. Also, if you are a straight acting and appearing male you will not get hired unless you are an internal candidate which there are not many of these applicants. Delta wants diversity and if you are a man who doesn’t fit into what Delta considers “Diverse” you are not getting the job. One recruiter who was an internal candidate was hired about 13 years ago and he talked about how at in-flight training is where he met his wife and he was the only male there who wasn’t in the diversity spectrum. They will let a few guys like this slip in, but these guys are a minority and Delta has to do this to avoid reverse discrimination cases and even women insiders will tell you this. No one will get a private room and you will have to share a room with a stranger. If you can handle this more power to you. BTW, if you didn’t make it Delta purges your application from the system in 1 to 5 days, it won’t even be on the past application list. If you don’t want to wait three months just re-apply using another e-mail address and change it on your resume. Everything is computerized when it comes to the personality assessment and the one way video questionnaire. The insiders will tell you this as well. No one has time to go through 100,000 assessments, they don’t have enough manpower. You have to be extremely submissive and passive on the personality assessment. If the system passes you, you will instantly get the link for the video interview. After finishing the video questionnaire no matter how you did you will instantly get the offer and a link to schedule the meeting in Atlanta, but again you have to be extremely passive on the personality assessment. The cost of the whole process including hotel, parking and taxi can cost up to $200. Some hotels near the facility will shuttle you to the site, but if they don’t be prepared to spend money on a taxi or Uber. This information is provided so that you the applicant can make a decision in your own best interests. If you go to Atlanta it’s your own choice and this gives an idea of what to expect. Be cautious if you can’t afford to do this. It’s not too expensive but for some it makes a difference. Be aware that Delta changes the process from time to time so in a few weeks or months they might change the entire process. It’s funny how they treat everyone and expect them to stay silent on the whole process. Merry Christmas and have a safe and happy holiday. Training is 7 weeks Training pay is 7.25 Hour, appx. 50 hours a week Mon-Friday, some Saturday’s Flying schedule for new hires 17-20 days per month 10 days off per month Fall 2023 hourly FA pay $33.81 per hour, pay is capped at $76.00 at 12 years There is no limit on call outs, but if you have too many expect to be reprimanded
I got taken in by my supervisor to have a "talk" after I was sick for three days. I was actually out for five days and didn't get over it for seven. At any rate I missed the weekend and came back on my regular shift, I wasn't feeling all the way better, but I no longer had a fever. Later that week on Friday is when I got called in. My supervisor was telling me I had to sigh a write up for missing work. I told her that I called in ahead of time and told my coach. I also stated that my PTO account was debited for the missed days, so I was confused by the write up. She informed me that there are only so many people that can call in sick at a time and if Delta is over there quota then your still written up. Before all that, when I came in she asked me if I was getting enough sleep because I looked tired. I told her yes; I get enough sleep. The reason I was so tired was the difficult calls I had to take over the weekend. I told her that we get a lot of difficult calls on the weekends and are staffed poorly as far as knowledgeable agents that can help in booking tickets. She told me that those personnel had to have their time off as well as the rest of us. To which I responded, If we are short staffed on the weekends, then that was her responsibility, since she was in charge of the schedule, not my responsibility. She didn't like that I said that and told me she felt uncomfortable. I said now I feel uncomfortable, May I leave? She said yes. (this was all said behind a closed door in her office). Later that shift I was called up to her managers office and was informed that there would be an investigation based on our conversation. Now I was in trouble because I told her that us being short staffed was her responsibility. That made her feel "uncomfortable". I quit the next day.
I would hire you at my airline on the spot.
Thank you. This was two years ago. What was your next move?
Sorry but get your instructions clear and get your ass on time.
Thanks for sharing! Very informative. And very sad to hear, the flight attendant didn’t recover from his injuries.
Happy to help! Yeah it's always sad to hear those things
