  • Hey, guys! Welcome to my channel if you're new here :)
My name's Cassandra and I'm a certified flight instructor - before that I worked briefly for Delta Air Lines as a flight attendant, so this channel is predominantly about aviation.
Whether you're interested in becoming a flight attendant, pilot, or just interested in the aviation industry in general, this channel is for you.
Welcome and I'm so glad you're here :)
In this video, I will take you through a typical day in the life of a CFI-A candidate (a pilot who's training to become a general aviation flight instructor).
I recorded this on July 31st, 2020, so it's been a while, but I wanted to get it out there to provide some insight for y'all on what to expect going into a flight instructor academy.
If you found this video useful, entertaining, or informative feel free to give it a thumbs up, share, or subscribe!
Thanks so much for watching and until next time!

Cassandra can you explain the term " ENDORSEMENTS" for those of us who are not in your profession and don't understand techno babble. I find your situation very interestingly. Your training is supposed to be difficult, mentally challenging, and demanding. If it were easy everyone would do it. From watching your video, it appears you are doing what you need to do. Exercise to reduce stress, vitamin/mineral supplements, proper nutrition (big bowl of salad), enjoying laughter with a friend, side hustle for extra cash. Lady I'm betting you are going to be alright. It appears you have mental and physical toughness. I call that "TRUE GRIT". GOD BLESS YOU!!!

Hey there, sure thing! Each pilot who wants to keep track of their hours carries a logbook with them. Endorsements go inside these logbooks usually in the form of stickers or written in ink.
If your goal is to get your private license, for example, you need to have certain endorsements in your logbook before you qualify to take the exam. It’s an over-simplified explanation, but if you’re curious about the details, I’d be happy to get into it with you!
Thanks so much for your support and I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! :)

What was the process in becoming a pilot? I've been researching around to find an appropriate school to apply to, but it's been kind of hard haha.

Thank you for explaining the aviation industry term. In my previous comment, I wrote your situation is interesting to me. When I was in the U.S. Army, I wanted to learn how to fly rotor and fixed wing aircraft. I think I would have made an outstanding aviator. I wanted to reenlist, but the 1st Army recruiter I dealt with was not honest with me. I foolishly tarnished my reenlistment recruiter with a level of mistrust. I decided to get out and make a lot of money. Remember SELF-REGRET!! Not with making a lot of money, but not realizing my dream of becoming a pilot. So I hope you realize you dreams in aviation and have a long and financially rewarding career. You mentioned in a previous video, your father is a commercial pilot. Am I correct? Bet your father is on cloud 100 and so proud of you lady. What would really be cool if one day you could fly with him in that right-hand seat as his 2nd officer. GOOD LUCK!!! MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE!!!

Any time! I'm sorry you weren't able to fly for the U.S. Army. Do you think you'll pursue your pilot's license now that you're financially able to do so?
It's never too late to learn :)
Yes, that's correct; my dad is a commercial pilot. He was excited to have another pilot in the family haha. He'll be retired by the time I get to the majors, but we fly Cessnas together so it's been a wonderful experience!
Thanks so much for your insight, it's really appreciated!

Hi Cassandra, I work for United, and they just bought a flight school and have students that became CFI teach students, also a track program working with co-op regional airlines to build hours, have you looked into the program?

    • @CassandraRi
      @CassandraRi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Hi, Jay! I did take look at it - since I'm no longer in flight school, it'll likely take some more experience on my end to land a job with one of United's partnered institutions. Will just have to keep plugging along until that happens. Thanks so much for that suggestion! :)

Hi Cassandra, I'm a new CFI as of October 2020 and wondering if you have had any issues with getting a CFI job during this unprecedented time in the aviation world. I'm still on the search! I really enjoyed the video and how real you were with the whole CFI endeavor (Endorsements are fun right haha), I remember it like it was yesterday! I wish you all the best in your aviation dreams!

      Hi, Sam!
Congrats on your CFI! I've been having trouble as well, yes. It seems most flight schools want prior instructing experience. Has this been your experience, too?
I'm really glad you enjoyed the video! It can be a challenge trying to make the mundane entertaining lol. For sure gotta love endorsements 😂
I wish you all the best, too! I hear now that the airlines are picking back up, it’ll leave more open CFI positions - fingers crossed :)

@@Samellis20 for sure! We all have to start somewhere, right? I decided to go a different route and become a registered CFI at my flying club. That way I can advertise myself legally and word-of-mouth can spread that I’m teaching privately. I’ve gotten a few students in the works now.
Maybe you can give that a shot :)
I know American Flyers’ branches were hiring if you’re nearby one of them. They have high turnover rates at times from what I’ve gathered.
Definitely we’ll get through this! If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know and I’ll be here for you as much as I can. We’re in the same boat, after all :)
