    You spending far to much time washing your coarse material. Volume will yield higher amounts.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea good point. I ended up kind of realizing that too. This was sort of the first time testing it out. Was also trying to come up with better ideas on getting a constant flow of water in the bucket with out having to keep filling up buckets of water to keep pouring in. Electric pump is the easiest, but where I was those are not allowed, so I thought about making a gravity hose using a bucket with a hose attached to it feeding the fast current water into the hose pushing it into the bucket at a constant flow.

  • @SasquatchBioacoustic

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting ปีที่แล้ว

      That is an excellent Idea. I thought about attaching one of those underwater scope things to the dredge so you could see the bottom better, but the live cam thing is a great idea.

  • @nefariumxxx
    @nefariumxxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wonder if the shape of the downward water jet/flow is important to create proper fluid bed action. As in, you may want a nicely tapered flow out the bottom of the funnel instead of that turbulent flow clinging to sides of the larger funnel. Maybe compare your flow / water column shape to videos of the real deal in action.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I came to the same conclusion. I did quite a bit of tests and my first model had no little funnel in the device at all. that is why I added a smaller funnel into the big funnel to concentrate the flow. However all the tests I did after adding the smaller funnel showed that if you classify it down to a 1/8" it loses no gold at all. It was rare to ever find a piece in the overflow ketch container.

    • @nefariumxxx
      @nefariumxxx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CDCGoldProspecting That's cool. I was looking into building my own a while back and the large enough diameter funnels seem pretty hard to find. I've already got the classifier screens so the funnel is the challenge. Would be cool to hook up my cheap little 12v (1100gph) pump to speed up processing. I saw there are footpedal switches on amazon to turn it on and off as you want water added intermittently. Maybe use a simple spring loaded clamp or rig something to hold a water hose at top of bucket. Brainstorming, as usual. I already have a folding backpack sluice but they can be a hassle to set up just right.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea those are all great ideas. I had thought of some of those too. But most places I go don't allow electric pumps. That is the hard part, the constant filling it with water. The funnel I used, I believe I linked to on amazon but it says it is out of stock. I used a 12" or 30 cm beer funnel and then just cut a smaller size funnel to make the hole more narrow.

  • @GoldPanningIRE

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is actually a really great Idea. I started do something similar but only classified the 1/2" and 1/4" but still used the 1/8" classifier in the nugget bucket. Your way might be easier! Thanks for the tips!

  • @ericrothleutner3080
    @ericrothleutner3080 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's all great that you built your own gold rush bucket... But the total cost of this venture was around "$170.00 " I will buy the premade one If I look at more listings on amazon or e-Bay I can get a really good deal for around $99.00

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea Eric, that is totally understandable and a good idea. A big reason why I opted for making my own, was I was trying to make it work without classifying bellow a 1/4", and the regular nugget bucket didn't do that.

  • @GoldenSniffer
    @GoldenSniffer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great idea, adding floatation to the Down Spout Concentrator. The only suggestions I'd like to recommend, is eliminating "Piston Seal Skippage" by tightening up the piston seal's pull resistance of the pump so there's more than a trickle of water spilling out of the concentrator with each stroke. That could increase the Vacuum HG's so there'd be more suctioning power to better sequester any GOLD and move material faster too. With your hand pumps 2 ft. of 2" pipe we should be seeing over 40 ounces of water gushing out with each full stroke. There is also a lift calculation for distance an object can travel with water velocities, like when GOLD travels during a storm based on cubic inches per second. As far as the Down Spout Concentrator, after you fix the flow rate, you may have to increase the length of the angled portion and the angle itself to insure GOLD isn't being pumped through. Keeping the entire Down Spout filled with water could assist in stratifying the dredge material more progressively as it travels through the DEEP Vee's. A good angle refefence would be so that any GOLD stopped by a deep Vee, slides back down in the concentrator with metallic and other magnetic material.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, those are a lot of good recommendations. Thanks for sharing. After I built it I found some areas I would do differently if I made another one. Such as have the down spout concentrator all one piece and maybe put a float in the back and front as well. You had some good ideas too. I like the floating function, it makes it a lot easier especially if it is flowing water, because you don't have to deal with the bucket floating away or getting knocked over or something. Your concentrator just follows you around, lol...

  • @GoldenSniffer
    @GoldenSniffer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video, but if you want to stop the bellows from collapsing, you can add internal support. Internal support makes the suctioning power skyrocket and allows the hand dredger to pump in excess of 30 gallons of water per minute, that's 1/8 of a cubic yard. Golden Sniffer Products now has optional the top secret internal support rings to add to the purchase of an M625 HD Power Plant Skin. A fully assembled Pumping Handle has them securely fitted inside so they won't get dislodged during pumping.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting... Thanks for checking out the video. Those are some good tips, I didn't find it collapsing all that much when I was using it though. You kinda start learning the correct way to pull after a while to keep it from happening. Like your products though, very smart ideas you've come up with.

    Interesting blog and topic. I am still pretty new to dowsing. I am in Africa and there is a lot of gold around. I just made my rods from wardrobe wire coat hangers. And started dowsing. I would ask people to hide things and I would look for the stuff with my rods. Then I was refining the process and then wen off to my gold claim on admission to look for the gold veins. The main thing I would do was simply to talk to the rods (after observing some religious practice) and ask it questions and the rods would respond strongly as I would be walking. For example, I would ask, I am looking for a gold bearing being that has a grade of about 20 grams per tonne and the nearest to the surface within this area. Then the rods would point But the thing is when I would ask for the depth, it would say around 25 metres deep and the being about 2 metres wide, going 45 degrees etc. So it was my first time and you know the process and expenses of digging 25 deep and blasting is quite costly. So I just need assurances and testimonies from others that it works. I would be left with an egg in my face if i try it then find nothing! Has anyone ever got that deep?

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure. I only practiced with them a bit. However, I didn't have too much luck with them. Some people swear by them and say they work, I might have not been using them correctly. That is pretty deep. Maybe you should start asking it to find you surface gold, and then you can check how reliable it is for you.

    I use two types of valve I think work pretty well, one is a super ball on a string ($1.49) at the inlet tip and the other is a rubber toilet tank flapper ($2.99) in a chamber at the exit where you have your collector, attached to a 5' hose that feeds into a 5 gallon bucket. Both seem to be very durable, let rocky material flow by pretty well and rarely (enough) fail to reseal because of a trapped stone.

      Pretty good ideas. I bought some valves for my big hand dredge, might had been a better idea just making them.

      Hey Azael, thanks for the watching and commenting. So far they have held up quite nicely. I just ordered some shirts from TeePublic and they are on the way. Thought I would check quality of both and Compare. Maybe I can make a video on that too.

      Got the Tee Public shirts. I felt they were pretty close to being about the same as the Redbubble ones. Just thought I would share that with you!

    How do the shirts feel? Are they thin shirts or heavy cotton?

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Marco, Well they have several types. I think their premium shirts are thicker heavy weight. The classic shirts, I felt was about average. They were not really what I would call think cotton, But they were not all that thin either. The tag on them does say heavy weight cotton. Hope that helps.

      CDC Gold Prospecting wanted to buy premium but is it see through/cheap feeling/thin?

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marco, I wouldn't say it was cheap feeling. If you hold it up to the light and look through one layer you can see light through it. But most shirts do that. The slim fit shirts are 4.2 oz (145g) fabric weight. Classic shirts are a little heavier at 5.3 oz (180g). The one I got was the denim heather but it is 50% cotton, 50% polyester. The shirt quality feels pretty good to me, I wouldn't call it cheap quality. Just go with either the classic or the premium, those are going to be a heavier weight than Slim fit or the long style shirt. I just ordered some Tees from Tee Public, recently to compare the quality. I haven't got them yet though.

    @CDC Gold Prospecting , I built a 7 Gallon nugget bucket with 9 screens. Yes i did your ideas except the small funnel section. I have the ability to mix up the screen sizes. and with our collection bowl you can put a lid on it & replace it and carry on. Yes the water flow is the key to this system. Also think about an old military duffle bag to carry your bucket system. peace out.

      Awesome Todd, great to hear you made one too. How did the 7 gallon design work out? I bet it helped with not having to bend over as far. Interesting deign with 9 screens. So I assume that is going pretty small with classification. I made some bucket classifiers that worked fast and well, so started pre-classifying with 1/2" and 1/4" and started to only use 1/8" screen on the nugget bucket. I felt it was a little easier because you didn't have to fill it up as high with water, meaning less bending over to pick up buckets of water. Good idea about the duffel bag, that would make it much easier to carry around. Thank for letting me know you built one Todd!

    what size did you order? what size do you usually wear? and how tall are you? :) just asking for reference :))

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Sandra, Yea I guess I forgot to say all those things lol. :) I ordered L. Shorter one was only 50% cotton, so less to worry about it shrinking on me. I usually need a large for the length but sometimes if it is not slim fit it can look baggy on me. Which was not the case with these, which was cool :). The long t-shirt was a little long though lol. I am 6 foot tall or I think that is about 182 centimeters. Let me know if you need to know anything else!

    Inspiring video! I´m building also a floating sluice and I´m just thinking what hand-pump has to be used. Is there a difference against a normal pump of type in -out? There must be something what stops the material go away by the sucking tube when you push back in?

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea you have to use a flapper check valve on both ends of the pump facing the right directions. I used sump pump check valves on mine I got on amazon. --> --amzn.to/2KhlMN8-- <-- Those are the ones I used. Bought two of them. One for intake and one for outlet. Hope that helps! :)
