    After you drill the holes make sure and sand down the burrs on the edge of all the holes so gold doesn't get trapped on the little edges. Awesome idea 💡 though!

      Good point... I did do that. I guess I might have forgotten to mention that step haha.

    a good and cheap way to become a classifier. Are also quite easy and quick to replace. greetings GoldjungeTom

    Good tutorial, don't put in too many holes, structural integrity goes as you found out to the way side.

      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good Point Ed, Yea I noticed that the further I drilled up on the sides with the 1/2" one the weaker the bucket started to seem. Seemed to start flexing easier than it did without the holes on the side.

    Lots of holes, bet that took a few minutes!! Good luck with the classifer!

      Haha yea it did. After a while I quit measuring and just started eyeing it to try and get it done faster. They worked pretty good the couple times I tested them though. Not bad for $7 or $8 bucks for two classifiers. Thanks for commenting! :)

    Good ideas there you have, I like the ingenuity! I have a punch-plate in my high banker wash box that has all hand drilled holes too... people I knew laughed at me when they saw all the holes. Hoping I will have that to show in a video fairly soon. Nice work Cory! Cheers

      Thanks Aaron. Nice I bet that was a bunch of hole for the punch plate. Yea I would enjoy seeing that in a video!

    Pretty nice and yes you need to watch how much you drop and how much weight is in there

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true, I learned that the hard way, dropping a 15-20 pound boulder in it. Learned not to do that again haha.

    Making progress my friend. Just wondering if it would be much mod difficult to incorporate a fitted disc of some thin sheet metal stock, maybe galvanized, into the bottom of the bucket to give it more durability against heavier wear and bigger rocks.
    I'm probably going to give your project a try.

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great Idea Damon, I had thought about putting a metal plate in there. I also thought about just buying a metal bucket and drilling holes like this, But the idea of drilling all those holes in metal did not seem as easy to me as with plastic. On general, they have held up pretty well so far. the 1/2" one I cracked putting some heavy boulders in it. But they were really heavy though.
      I bet if you wanted to, you could just cut a big round hole with a jigsaw in the bottom of the bucket a little smaller than the disc of metal. Then rivet the disc into the remaining plastic part of the bucket bottom. Then you wouldn't have to drill holes in the metal and the plastic. Just the metal.

    Nice cheap classifier to make i don't think i would use as many holes but great job, Make a good berley bait bucket while im out in the boat also :-)

      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      haha multiple uses! Yea I might have went overboard with the holes. But I was trying to make it classify as fast as possible.

  • @OutdoorswithNick

    That is ALOT of holes to drill ... But hehy it will get the job done ... And it didnt kill the bank ... Im wondering however ... What sluice box you have? And if you habe given it much thought to building a screen fron your box itself ?

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep lots of holes. I have an Angus Mackirk mini long tom sluice. But haven't really been bringing it with me these days. Lately been using my homemade nugget bucket and my floating hand dredge sluice when I go prospecting. Mainly use the Mackirk sluice for cleanup of concentrates. Maybe one day I can afford the Green Mountain Gold Trap Sluice! Dan Says it is great! :)
      Good idea about the screen on the sluice. I had thought about trying to make something like that but my sluice is a little too small I think for very much production really.

      Oh by the way... in case you haven’t seen it, i have tagged you in the tag you’re it challenge .
      Name your favorite video you’ve done on your channel , then name three channels to “ tag” who do a good job and perhaps could use some exposure
      Its a good way to network i guess

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Flour, Yea I saw your tag video, appreciate it. I have been looking through my subscriber list trying to find people that have not already been tagged before. My subscriber list is somewhat small so that makes it a little hard to find people that I haven't seen in a tag video before. lol...

    You want to hear something funny? Our phone blows up with soliciting calls every day. Most of the time it's spoofing where people use disconnected number or, other peoples number to call you. I always hang up on them and call the number back. Today, we got one from people trying to sell solar power. It was a recorded message that started out with, (Hi, my name is blah and I'm calling from blah, I know, you probably get calls like these all the time, but don't hang up). I hung up and called back. It was an actual business! So when someone answered I said, (Hi, my name is so and so and I'm with the clown company, I know you probably get these call all the time, but don't hang up. Do you want to buy a clown car for $10,000.00?) THEY HUNG UP ON ME, BUT!!! I called that number back over 30 time in a row and gave the whole speech each time. AND, I plan on doing it every chance I get. the last time I called I warned them, I'M GOING TO BLOW YOUR PHONE LINES UP WITH THIS CALL VERY OFTEN. OH AND P.S. My phone number is registered with the national DO NOT CALL LIST. You've been reported and will be fined. DO NOT CALL MY NUMBER AGAIN. That was my fun for the day!!

    • @CDCGoldProspecting
      @CDCGoldProspecting  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow I bet they don't want to call you anymore after that lol! I might have to try that. I just never answer them unless I know the number, or they leave a voicemail.

    • @GreenMountainGoldTrap
      @GreenMountainGoldTrap 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CDCGoldProspecting Their leaches and, they will call again, until they get their fine that is. And each time they call, I will report it. This company is going DOWN for all the others I can't get too because they are spoofing.
      ahh hahahahahahahaaaa!! Ok, I need to go to bed now!!
