FJ CruiserChannel: Medano Pass July'21
มุมมอง 5173 ปีที่แล้ว
We spent a couple of weeks in Colorado this year, and wanted to share some trails on my bucket list. Medano Pass is a fairly easy trail for any stock 4x4, and perhaps just about any truck or vehicle with good clearance. Below are some GPS coordinates for some campsites on the trail. Mosquitos were extremely bad on this trip, so plan accordingly. Thinking back, it would be better to stay higher ...

    I’m learning more about car audio as I plan my FJ audio upgrade. If your rear speakers are only 50 watts, is your 75w per channel too much power? My front speakers are going to be 125w each, and rear 50. Crutchfield recommend letting my aftermarket head unit push the rears and use a 2 channel 75 per channel amp to power the front’s….vs a 4 channel 50w per channel amp to push all the speakers.

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, I had to use plastic stand-offs because the magnet of the speaker was too deep. I believe I cut the stand-offs so that just long enough to also allow the original cover to go back into place.

    Overall how’d you like the tent?

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tent is very comfortable. It can be setup with one person, but with two people you quickly get it setup and taken down. Very nice to travel and camp at a moments notice and literally any spot is good, even if you have to place some rocks to level the car. I would say that the sleeping mat is almost as comfortable as my bed at home, and I'm a side sleeper. The canvas material did really well on multiple rains without any leaks. The only drawback is the cover over the front door catches a lot of water when it rains, needs an extra bar or something to raise the canvas so that water rolls off the top. I ground tent a lot as well, but this method of camping feels a little more like home. Oh, and I used 3M glue to attach an insulating mat under the mattress. On very cold nights it would build some condensation under the mattress and I didn't want it to start to mildew. So, not perfect out of the box and needs some DIY tricks to make it perfect.

  • @ocram9690

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment. I haven't made any new videos in awhile. The videos were basically to document all of the things that I did on the vehicle. I have reached a point that there isn't much more that I wanted to do. I will say that the sound proofing helped a lot to keep the road noise very low in the cab, regardless if you are listening to the radio. The system sound 1000% better than the original, but I am struggling with getting a good EQ on the sound. Its been hard to get the mids to sound good across multiple different types of music. Anyway, perhaps its time to get an external EQ and a new video 😁

    @treycranson 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    when choosing where and how much killmatt to use, how did you decide? I noticed a lot of patches which seems to work during your demos, but my instinct would've had me covering every surface fully. Would that have been overkill?

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can certainly cover every surface, but surfaces like hard corners are very stiff and will not resonate. I guess my point is just that you can save some $ and be strategic about placement and still achieve good results.

    • @FJCruiserChannel

      No, the groves are there to ensure a tight fit, but there aren't any matching groves on the spindle. You just need to start it off somewhat straight and it will guide itself once you tighten the bolt.

    Hi... Loved this video! I'm planning to do something very similar. I would like to know how much cable in total did you use. I've seen amp install kits on amazon. However, most brands sell about 17 ft of power cable say 4 Gauge, 16-20 ft of rca, Remote and speaker cables. I'm planning to mount the mono and 4 channel amps in the Trunk using molle panels. Any idea how much cable would be required?

    • @FJCruiserChannel
      @FJCruiserChannel ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know, you will have to get a tape measurer and estimate the length of power cable from the battery to the amps location. I would probably do something similar to what i did... run the 4 gauge to a terminal near both amps and split from there. I would think that 10' RCA cables would be long enough, and you will need speaker cables from the amp to your front speakers. I would get a roll of 16 gauge for that. Anyway, good luck!
