i have 7 qts on order and inputted your code upon checkout. just picked up an FJ with 140K miles and i doubt the diff fluid has ever been changed. Wish me luck!
Good luck! I performed a diff temperature before and after, and it run much cooler now. Thanks for using my code! I also purchased 13 qts of their transmission fluid. I plan to do this in a couple of months. I'll shoot a video.
@@FJCruiserChannel Flushes are often done with a higher pressure than what your transmission operates at causing buildup of crud to turn loose and get into valves and clog them. I'd advise changing fluid and installing a filter and a drain plug and using synthetic oil. Synthetic oil will clean your transmission in a safer way and revitalize the seals. Drive it several thousand miles or even less drain again and refill with synthetic oil again. I brought a transmission back from the dead with Amsoi and stopped a leak on a line o-ring with it. Quality fluid is the best route on everything and synthetics are a few steps above any conventional lube. Even my 93 Turbo Diesel specified synthetic fluid in the manual transmission, a New Venture Gear 4500.. Good luck.
what do you mean at 14:52 what you mean oil leak from the pack if you don't remove it all the way do you mind demonstrating or explaining what you meant
I just mean that there was very little space to have the bag higher than the fill hole, so that gravity would drain the small amount that was in the bag. I think I rolled the bag like a tube of toothpaste and got all the oil out.
The ones I purchased are no longer available, but these should work just fine. www.amazon.com/REALTH-Neodymium-Permanent-Magnetic-MC20212/dp/B08GLGFYW7/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2POZ3IJ2FALZB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._JbEXM6NYIyFhgCov--TxwkZmT6vZmgQZXef6iXOYAfHtFEnmhW2pZ2JBTbNuloxflYJ4LbpV0ZCbyQ42buJ-N0x3XTKy13IOITTwa06QigZgVSnCo_PRtEDsPaXjvDaHjntH4tvYLA9QbMUyDwkkP1fCfPOQUwUY3N5NCM864GKhKrGpYbLImfMhvrtxA3SphEEnM3XmGuuak-oDIfq3qwpwtWKxZKtF91mmIQGH_Q.vDfA6DlWj2cfE9VkuhDsP-v9WNQnrZXNs1ER6WfVN44&dib_tag=se&keywords=Neodymium%2BMagnets%2B3%2F4%2Bx%2B1%2F16%2Binch%2BDisc%2BN48&qid=1730491968&sprefix=neodymium%2Bmagnets%2B3%2F4%2Bx%2B1%2F16%2Binch%2Bdisc%2Bn48%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
Maybe you've already done this experiment, but if not. next time you have your drain plug out do a polarity test with your magnet to see if one direction makes the pulling strength stronger. Maybe one side can pick up a hammer and the other side only a screw driver. You should see a difference
So far so good. I know that I religiously measured the temp while in break-in period with Dino oil, and temps now are about 50 degrees cooler. To me that means less friction.
@@LA_Commander I don't know... Take it with a grain of salt, but Amsoil has multiple white papers showing how their oil performs better than others. I plan to do the transmission oil next. Here is a video of the white paper discussions, but you can find the actual report and read it if this guys gets on your nerves. 😀 th-cam.com/video/KbxuzkQiP7I/w-d-xo.html
So far no leaks, so the cheap washers are doing their job. I'm not sold on any of the super expensive oils. I wanted to try it, so I did. I will say that temp measurements from the rear differential are cooler than before, for whatever that's worth.
Guess you haven’t priced OEM gear oils lately. THAT’S overpriced. Amsoil Severe Gear is very reasonably priced for the quality of the product, usually quite a bit cheaper than the OEM gear oils
Doing my differential oil this coming weekend. Good to know that the transfer case uses the same oil.
I bought enough transmission fluid to do a full flush. Waiting for cooler fall temps before I tackle that project.

Those magnets are great. They'll grab things from a distance and hold it.
I'm about to do my transmission flush in a few months. I plan on putting more magnets inside as well.
@@FJCruiserChannel could I talk you out of the flush? On phone now but I can enumerate reasons later on computer to stay away from them.

Good idea!
As per my FJ manual. We are supposed to add 80W-90 on Rear Differential.
On Amsoil website, the 75W90 was listed for the vehicle. I have measured the case temp and it runs much cooler than Dino oil. Hope this helps.

Lol@ buying overpriced aftermarket gear oil but gets knock off cheap/non OEM crush washers.
