Doe Tractor Plough Day
มุมมอง 54K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
In 1958 Ernest Doe and sons of Ulting, Essex adopted an idea of a local farmer and join two Fordson Major tractors together into a single, high horse power unit capable of working the heavy Essex soils. They went on to build around 300 over a number of years before larger tractors became available in the market place. In this video we wind back the clock to the early 1960's and see how the Doe ...

Tractor World, Malvern, Setup Day 2024
Great vidio i am restoring a Massey Ferguson 35 4 syl 23c from 1958
Ok
It always blows my mind for how someone even imagined putting 2 tractors together like that. Pretty cool
Glad you enjoyed it.
that rusty thing is a dwoile flonker. made in east angula they were used in the dwoile fields to flonker samples of the crop.
Thanks. I'll pass on the info 🙃
.@@Casterton-VintageI think Raymondo162 is pulling your leg ol'sport.Would be intresting to find out what it really is and how it was used. .
Great show and presentation Thank you😊😊😮😮
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
I expect the mystery Allis did thier usual trick of cutting out for no good reason and refusing to start until the crowd of spectators had dissipated!!!!
👍
Great video!
Thanks 👍
Very enjoyable vid. I'm glad that cutaway tractor has survived and you managed to get good film of it.
Thanks.
Excellent coverage of a really wide selection of tractors 👌 the diesel tractor that ran on vaporised diesel was an interesting item would really like to know how that worked 🤔
Glad you liked it.
Glad you got my 770 on the move at the end I was on my way to top it up with diesel for the 34 miles home to Norfolk
Quite a long trip at that time of day. Well done.
@@Casterton-Vintage 2 and half but it did it
but to add to my last comment the show looked poor on crowds....was it
I don't know numbers but the wet weather must have kept people away.
loved your presentation .. thank you so much
Thanks.
Another excellent video of a vintage rally for Sunday night viewing. Seeing the cut away tractor reminded me of the one that was on the Ford tractors stand at the 1985 Smithfield show when they launched the Force 2 range of tractors to the market, it was a Ford 6610 4 wheel drive cut away with the all new super Q cab if I remember correctly. Then I saw a cut away Ford Force 3000 somewhere that had been motorised with an electric motor which turned it over slowly and let you see everything working in slow motion as if it was running. It was very interesting to see what lives beneath all the castings that we can't see normally in the engine, gearbox and backend. I just can't remember where I saw the motorised cut away though.
Hopefully the cutaway Ford's you remember have also survived.
Excellent video again!
Thanks again!
Great video as always. Thank you. The Standen Solobeet Cyclone seen briefly in the background would be worth a look. I though most had all long since been scrapped.
The sugar beet vide will be next Sunday. There are a lot of interesting machines as well as the Cyclone.
Great video. Nice collection of tractors. The Massey Fergusons are my favourite, but I like all the brands just as well. Saw one of those Allis Chalmers ED45 here in PEI once. And I saw an Ontario plate on the video too. Thanks a lot for your time to make the videos and posting them. Have a great day.
Thanks 👍
You cannot beat a tractor show with lots of fordson s and grey Ferguson's but a great collection of other makes ! Great video looked a great show !
Thanks 👍
David Brown. Like a 2D but not quite a 2D? I was there but missed this completely. What is it?
Saw that as well and wondered exactly the same 😅
DB produced a narrow track version of the 2D for vineyards, under 1m wide. It was for export but some did get sold in the UK. I suspect that is what we are looking at but I didn't see the owner to ask.
How deep do you plough ?
Depends on the class of ploughing but 6" to 8".
Those big steamers were pure beasts but where so controlable bloody amazing
👍
In this time of doom an gloom i enjoyed it very much, thank you.
👍
Awesome bit of kit
👍
The drawbar is way to low!! Thank you for some great memories ❤much enjoyed😊regards❤😊
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
I grew up in Ireland. My Father always had DBs. 990s. & 1200. Flew from the Nest. I’m in Pennsylvania USA now. Because of the Memories. I have a 770A. And a 1212. Will Restore some day. Running now. Love these Videos
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing your memories.
Worked on many of them, in my days.
👍
I remember using a Nicholson side delivery rake in the late 1960s. We used it with a David Brown cropmaster. The rake had a habit of flying in pieces, ( but being young lads, we were probably going faster than in your video!) 😂
👍😂
😀🚜👍
Excellent footage, loved it all, only one little point, why do "some plough men" keep adjusting their plough while doing the job? If they set up the plough on level ground before starting, they would find that it would all work out fine! I used to plough with a MF65 mk2 on the Mendip Hills, south of Bristol UK, lovely job but poor money back then. Good to see so many old Tractors being used. Wonderful. Thank You for your Video. 😁
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
The 718 is the Best.
👍
My guess is ploughing 🤔
Not ploughing but close. The video will be live at 1800 hrs on Sunday.
Thanks again that was excellent and brought back very happy memories from 70 years ago 😀🏴
Glad you enjoyed it.
Towing another tractor that's stuck?
Thanks for the guess. It's not towing a tractor. Watch the video on Sunday at 1800 hrs.
G'day CV, we crop about eighty acres of lucerne, I mow it with a Ford 2600 and a Taarup 204 then rake it with a 1962 Fordson super dexta I have a MF 35 as back up so it was great to see them both on your video. a contractor presses them into small squares then I have two Acco 610A International trucks that we attach a mobile load paddock elevator to . The 62 year old Dexta pulling a New Holland super 56 rake without any computers burns a gallon an hour. the turning circle of those little tractors and the wonderful action of the old rake allow me to plat windrows and maximise recovery 👍.
I bet that would make a great video. Thanks for sharing .
I've recorded a few over the last five years you never know👍🇦🇺.
I simply love content like this 😊
Thanks. I try to capture as much like this as I can.
Thank you and please do keep up with this fantastic interesting content.
Sounds like an anti aircraft gun.
I hadn't thought about it like that 😂
It a time when everyone could enjoy haymaking, and did it more for the pleasure of working hard. And enjoying the cider and the tea laid on by the farmers wife . That pleasure is now gone. 👍👍
Haymaking in this changing climate is becoming a real challenge! Glad you enjoyed the video.
When is Carrington rally going to come out because I was there on the tractor on tour stand with a Mf 35 and grey Fergie
You are getting ahead of me now 🤣 Carrington will be in a number of parts and the first part will be from the working filed. Hopefully that will be this Sunday at 6pm. Glad you enjoy the videos.
@@Casterton-Vintage yeah looking forward to it if you were there on Sunday I was the kid on the 35 cultivating
I can"t believe so many people thought this was a good video. It was an absolute shambles. The fat content of those guys, must have addled their brains, or, maybe its because Norfolkshire came into it somewhere !!!
Having spent a lifetime in agricultural engineering, self employed, I have to say what a heart warming, superb video this has been. Only discovered you today and now hooked. To see these old machines at work on this tough livery soil makes one wonder why the huge modern very heavy, very expensive tractors are such a good buy. Hats off to the people who give up their time to keep these old timers going.
Thanks for your support. It's good to hear you enjoy my videos.
Good job this lot does not have to earn a living doing this - they would have been sent packing from the farms I worked on.
🤣 We enjoyed watching them though!
