Great video and as others have said great to see younger guys working these older bits of kit, it does make me wonder how the majority of the modern turn key, vario transition, GPS Autosteer, air con cab operators would cope if they were asked to go back a few decades and do a day of working these vintage machines
They would have more appreciation for GPS for sure!
Great watching old machinery doing what it was designed to do. The vid also shows the broad knowledge base that the average farmer needed to keep the show on the road!

This is amazing. I would love one of these spreaders. To see 3 in action has made my day. You could see a farm running older tractors having all these mechanical issues back in the day and why everyone moved towards diesel
It was defiantly a day to remember. Diesel was the only way to go in the end.

Excellent video and a shame that annoying breakdowns made it hard work, but at least Steve has plenty of tractors to fall back upon! He now has plenty of extra jobs to do in his workshop! It has to be said that the spreaders appeared to work faultlessly with no breaking chains! Well done Steve and his team for organising such a fascinating event!

Great video a lot of hard work by Steve trying to keep everything going and all his helpers. Love to see the old tvo tractor's going and the smell of them but it just goes to show what a Revolution the diesel Major was back in the day. Great filmed video Brian always very entertaining thank you 👌👍

Always an entertaining video 👍 the trials and tribulations of old equipment 🙄😕😂 probably find on another day they would all have run perfectly with no issues 🤔 Steve with his engineering experience and knowledge will soon have them back in shape I'm sure 💪👌
It was quite a cold day which didn't help. Steve will have them sorted but, like me, his list doesn't get any shorter.
That brought back memories I learnt to drive on a super major.

Yes, the P6 was the star attraction. It's difficult to imagine how they managed without live hydraulics though!

Those first fork drops need to go into the spreader as low down and gentle as is possible to avoid a banana floor and bed chains that run well .

@Casterton-Vintage Back in the day, it certainly made a perkins diesel conversion pack look attractive
father-in-law told me that these muck spreaders had a habit of braking floor chains, if this happened it was "back" to the gripe to empty the speader !!
That was the problem expected on this occasion but the spreaders turned out to be the least of the problem!

as u say, we r glad to see times have moved on and should count our blessings.
i am afraid modern kit has problems too and often can't be fixed in house or in the shed !

going back to former days, before this, it was the "gripe" [hand fork]
but, i would't like to go back to this tackle !
A hand fork was maybe okay when there were plenty of people that wanted to work one, but time marches on.
I had one of the green Fordsons. Anyone that says "the good old days" never had to work with them. Winters day, handle start, no clutch Oil too thick, difficult to manage.

A total shambles. An afternoon driving tractors all over the place making a total mess in the mud What next.? what about using a wheelbarrow and a muck fork. far more efficient.
