Thanks for this very interesting, and to think nearly all cultivations were done this way and we thought nothing of it. It really is a work of art. Drone pictures are spectacular. Thanks
Excellent video 👌 i do follow Steve on his channel and admire his mechanical skills in keeping these oldies in perfect working order 💪💪 never was fortunate enough to drive a roadless major but spent hundreds of hours listening to the unmistakable sound of an E1a at work 💪💪
Fantastic video, tractor and plough matched perfectly, front wheel nice and straight, skimmers set just right, i have driven a similar outfit back in the 60s.
Oh you have brought some memories out, my favourite tractor was the Super Major, so easy to use as a 123 year old, we had two on the farm and by then dad was the only ploughman, se he would set everything up for me and of I'd go following him around the field, even showing how to mark out the headlands. Halcyon days a pity schooling got in the way!! We never had a fwd though just the standard off the shelf jobs, but we manged to plough probably 100+ acres of London clay with them each year fot about six years
4WD was an expensive option when that tractor came out. Something most people would manage without if they could. Glad you enjoyed the video and it brought back some memories.
Unfortunately our local councils, Boston and South Holland are hell bent in covering it with houses. When it's gone, it's gone. No more to produce food, utter stupidity.
😊😊 IVE only seen a few of the fordson tractors 🚜, around a older tractor 🚜 I think 🤔 😊 it was made in 1948 a darker color W red wheels only 2 wheel drive W a Perkins P 6 diesel engine that was at a tractor 🚜 😊 show many years ago 😮😮 the 1 I seen made in England not in the USA its a wonder that fellow isn't plowing in a circle or loop it surely would be alot faster than having 2 turn around every time 😮😮 at the end of the row 😊😊 OMG 11 24 2O24
I think you are describing an E27N Major with a P6 engine, normally referred to as a P6 Major. If you watch some of my working tractor videos you will find one for sure.
Fantastic little tractor, what a lovely job its making turning the soil It already looks close to being a seed bed, straight off the plough Really is lovely soil round the fens Great film thank you Is that the busy A17 in the background, travel that road quite regularly, Newark to Dereham, passed Wardy's farm Take care all Keep the classics rolling today's machines won't last the course of time I'm sure, to many technical components that will become obsolete Geoff
Brilliant video a lovely sounding tractor she was maybe only 51. 8 B H P but she is on top of her job and making a great job. We never had a Power Major or a Super only the early Major 40 B H P and then the New Major at around 44 B H P . We did up grade early Major with a Thames Trader 6 cylinder transplant which was a fantastic tractor for driving the International hammer mill , you just adapted in those day as there was not the money about then great days. All the best Alec.
Great video. Nice sounding tractor and great looking ground. Much more sure footed with the four wheel drive, but I would say it could do it in two wheel drive, but would have some tire slippage. Your thoughts on that please. Thanks for your time doing these videos. 👋👋
Super stuff, brilliant footage as always. I am a big fam of Steve, aka The Fenland Crusader. I hope you went back to get some drone shots of the D2 pulling the drill.
When I was a kid (8, 9, 10) the farm where my grandfather worked had a Major with a Roadless conversion, it had a front end loader, sadly I was never allowed to to drive it☹️.
Lovely to see the Roadless Major in action - made light work of the 3-furrow plough. Thanks for sharing. When I was a lad, a local farmer had a County Major conversion with 4 wheels all the same size - I wonder of there are any of those working today?
Great video of Steve’s tractor and plough at work! As usual with his machinery it is running perfectly! Although it looks small today a Power Major was quite a big tractor in the late 1950s and it and the various Diesel Major variations were immensely popular and reliable! I wonder how much extra the Roadless conversion added to the price?
That's very true. Oddly, there was a drainage contractor working about 1/2 mile from there and I nearly stopped and took some video. They were on modern kit though.
Good morning sir, please can you explain to me why I can count every two (forward and back) when you show us an overview of all the land ploughwed. I can count how many times the farmer has gone forward and back over the field. Is there a little difference in the adjustment of the right and left turning of the ploughsheres?
Mind blowing to think that a tractor so old can still do it's job without any drama. A great design and a great vid as always!
Thanks 👍
Not only the tractor but also the plough. Working perfectly no fancy hydraulic’s everything manual.
Thanks for this very interesting, and to think nearly all cultivations were done this way and we thought nothing of it. It really is a work of art. Drone pictures are spectacular. Thanks
Doing a great job 👏

😊😊 thats the 1ST / 3 bottom roll over plow IVE seen I didn't know they made 1 that saves alot of time U can plow both ways like that 😊😊 OMG 11 24 2O24
Which country are you in?
Really enjoyable again thanks for posting…
Thanks.
Great video. Nice to see this old girl out working.
Thanks 👍
Very well done brian wasn't expecting that very professional, them little drones do put the edge on a video brilliant 👏
Glad you enjoyed it. I need to come back and film you on another job soon. I enjoyed making the video.
the Major does a beautiful job of plowing, it must be fun to plow with
👍

Another excellent video - the Major was a great tractor from the word go! Steve's example is very well maintained and is certainly doing a great job!
Thanks 👍
Great video of the crusader piloting a lovely machine . Good stuff 👍
Glad you enjoyed it.
Super again tonight. What a wonderful sight seeing that combination , Fordson and Ransomes . You can keep the Mona Lisa painting for me . 😆
Well said.

Id say u mean 13 year old ha.
Fabulous Video
Many thanks
The Crusader has a very sweet running Power Major and very well set plough. Beautiful land too.
Unfortunately our local councils, Boston and South Holland are hell bent in covering it with houses. When it's gone, it's gone. No more to produce food, utter stupidity.

Proper farming, No GPS there 👍🏻
Yes, impressive work.

Not the A17, further south.

Another great video thanks. ive always been fascinated by roadless, county, muir hill tractors. Hope he let you have a go
Thanks. It's difficult to drive and fly the drone. I've tried it !🤦♂️
Great video. Nice sounding tractor and great looking ground.

Thanks for your time doing these videos. 👋👋
What a great video. Your work with the drone is amazing. Would live to have a tractor like that one . Well done 👏 ✔
Thanks 👍
just a good video

Unfortunately I didn't get the drill. Maybe next year.
When I was a kid (8, 9, 10) the farm where my grandfather worked had a Major with a Roadless conversion, it had a front end loader, sadly I was never allowed to to drive it☹️.
That would have been a special moment.
Lovely to see the Roadless Major in action - made light work of the 3-furrow plough. Thanks for sharing.
When I was a lad, a local farmer had a County Major conversion with 4 wheels all the same size - I wonder of there are any of those working today?
There are plenty of the 4 equal wheel tractors about.
Great video of Steve’s tractor and plough at work! As usual with his machinery it is running perfectly! Although it looks small today a Power Major was quite a big tractor in the late 1950s and it and the various Diesel Major variations were immensely popular and reliable! I think a 4WD conversion for a 50s Major would cost about £180
Plow and tractor need to be adjusted to lay over the soil without leaving ridges !!!! Greetings from N. America.
Hi North America. I didn't think you used mouldboard ploughs over there?
@@Casterton-Vintage The mouldplows are pretty much replaced with minium tillage .... however there are a few who stlll use plows
Favourite for the land drainage contractor at the time
That's very true. Oddly, there was a drainage contractor working about 1/2 mile from there and I nearly stopped and took some video. They were on modern kit though.

It usually looks like that behind any reversable plough.
How long does it take to plough that field, I was talking to a contractor not long ago he prepares about 160 acres a day with his tracked massy
Probably an acre an hour if you push hard!
No diff-lock - but the major has a split footbrake pedal with a link bar ??
Yes, that could be useful when you don't have a diff lock.
