I like the movies but never read the books, my friend is a huge nerd for both and showed me a fight from the show, like fuck the fights are so bad. Yes, they could do three different 'Battlestar Galactica ' versions / visions based on the shows budget: A continuatation of the classic 'Battlestar Galactica,' with willing cast members. (High budget) A spin-off of Ronald Moores' vision / version of Battlestar Galsctica.' (Medium budget) A reimagined third vision / version with special effects reminicent of the movie 'Starcrash,' without Caroline Munro to save the movie... although why Caroline changes the fantastic futuristic and fun outfit just as David Hasselhoff arrives on screen was a terrible decision... I guess the costume designers must have changed, lost inspiration, been told Caroline Munro wasn't supposed to be one of the main movie draws/ stars-' although she was. (Low budget version)

I think the issue is people calling it the worst show ever rather than mediocre. I think those critics, who have nothing constructive to say about the show and nothing positive in an objectively mediocre show, reveal their motives. But they were a minority, but vocal for sure. 99% of the rings were elven rings Durin ring might have been made for him but rest were all made for the elves it was only after Sauron went to war and he took all the rings he knew of off the elves were the rings given to the other races. Loved watching Peter Cushing, Vincent Price and Christopher Lee as a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's what a trio ! Shame there are currently no actors like them or even up and coming actors .

I felt like there was a lot of hubris when they digitally recreated Tarkin for Rogue One. If he appeared in the background, or in long shots I think it would have been fine as a cameo, but they were so confident in this underdeveloped technology that they tried pulling off closeups while he is sharing the screen with other flesh and blood actors. The whole thing comes across as a limp flex.

Disney got permission from Cushing’s estate to do this, you’re misunderstanding the article. This guy suing was unknown to the estate and Lucasfilm and waited years to sue instead of when it happened. Why? This is one of the few times Lucasfilm didn’t do anything wrong.

Honestly, de-aging is a terrible idea, with some exceptions (like in Tron Legacy), and it could only lead to resurrecting dead actors through CGI. We’re heading to a path that won’t work. We don’t want to see Disney with CGI zombified Robert Downey Jr playing Iron Man XXIII.

A VERY slippery slope. What if Disney decides to use the CGI of a living actor or celebrity or even politician next? Disney could have a fake “Tom Cruise” in their next crappy show or a fake “Donald Trump”. There have to be rules to protect real people (alive and dead) from being used by greedy corporations.

Contracts evolved when actors like Peggy Lee who performed in Disney films sued when new technology was developed such as such as home video, DVDs, etc. beyond theatrical releases that they were not compensated for (as was performances in "gaming" negotiated in the last actor's/writer's strike). The cast of "Friends" were one of the first actors to negotiate for streaming. In recent years, contracts include "technologies that don't exist at present", some spelling out specifically the limitations about AI and what even constitutes a "performance". What is happening here with the dead actor's representatives is no different than what the estates of Elvis, Mae West, Humphrey Bogart or W. C. Fields do with licensing name and image, which may or may not have anything to do with "performance". SAG is presently "scanning" actors digitally, to license those rights in the future to filmmakers. Also, keep in mind show business is about making money. It's cheaper for producers to just do something, deal with lawsuits, than to go through backlash over replacing a beloved actor/character who had died. CGI replacement gets a lot of media mileage -- as proven by this video.

I’m usually against lawsuits, but I have to support that family in this case. What’s to stop Disney from making a CGI version of a living person, or a non complimentary false version of a dead one? I can understand having an actor play the role, but that’s a bit different. At least the animated cartoon of Tarkin was obviously a cartoon, but CGI takes it up to an entirely new level.

I don’t like Disney doing this. What’s to stop them from creating a digital version of a living actor and not getting permission? You have to draw the line somewhere or no actor will have control.

2:47 as far as I know Mark Hamill wasn’t involved at all he was paid but that’s it, it was a different actor on set doing the motions and it was AI doing the face and voice.

So to me this sounds like one company suing another company because they’re both moneygrubbing! Also I think Disney may win this one based on 2 things, 1 they did get permission of the estate and payed them for it and 2 this new claim has taken way too long to be questioned (I’m thinking in a similar manner to infringement of copyright where you have to challenge it as soon as you become aware of someone else using your copyright or something so similar it could be mistaken for your IP) I mean it’s been like 10 years since Rogue one came out you have to ask why they waited till now (to me the answer is before now they hadn’t got a chance of getting any money but after the SAGA strike they see an opening to get a free payday).

My opinion might not the most popular, but I am glad they did put a digital Tarkin in the movie, since him and Vader were the characters I enjoyed the most in Rogue One. Tarkin stole every scene he was in, even as a digital facsimile. We can debate whether his facial recreation looks natural or not, what sold it to me, was his voice. That commanding inflection with Cushing's distinctive british accent - they nailed that one. If LF did a live-action Tarkin-based TV-show, that would be awesome. I hope, he shows up in Andor S2.

The main actress expresses her goal is white people crying (71% of the US population), then blames the failure on racism, oblivious of her own racist remarks. Sorry hun, their are many great actresses of color, you just happen to not be one of them. The actors are not even fans of Star Wars, which was evident in their comments. The director seemed in her own distorted hollywood bubble, the storyline was fragmented at best and not Star Wars canon at all.
