can we all take a second to be mad about Galadriel's brown hair roots showing? I am not trying to be picky, but it's a billion dollar show! They couldn't find a few hrs to color her freaking hair in between episodes??! It's distracting. I want to ponder the ''genius" of Sauron's smolder sttack, but I can't ...bc I'm distracted by the stupid over-grown hair roots...

It isn't 'moral relativism' except as an inevitable consequence of making everyone ordinary. Elves are just humans with pointy ears. Orcs are just humans with ugly faces and a skin allergy that only flares up when the plot requires it. Ents are big people with bark who like trees (but are otherwise unremarkable-no long memory, and downright hasty, even comparing them with other humans) . Gandalf is just this puzzled old guy with superpowers he is still learning. Sauron is just a guy with super powers, especially mind control, but very human motivations. The Dwarves are ordinary people who like to mine (I think they make stuff too, but there is little of that). There is no gleam of grandeur to any of them. 'Moral relativism' is the result, because everyone is just human, and we humans are neither gods nor demons. Good people sometimes do bad things, and often for complex reasons. Bad people maintain virtues like loyalty or love of family. The writers do not realize that Tolkien was portraying legend, not biography. Why would anyone enjoy a 'fantasy' that is determined to show us a world just like our own?

Totally, we need to make the personification of evil, a being that exists only to destroy everything of beauty relatable and a cry baby. He wasn’t so bad after all he just didn’t get to know the elves and was misunderstood🥲

OK, just some fan pedanticism since this error is reaching pet-peeve levels of frequency: Sauron is a Maia, singular, not the plural Maiar. Like Lúthien's mother, Melian the Maia.

▶️ Up next in 'Rings of Cringe' 🤦‍♂️
Sauron (looks into a mirror): "Why I'm feeling so empty? "
Sauron's reflection: "What is it, my precious? Are you losing your mind?"
Sauron: "No, never! I want to rule over Middle-earth and all beings ... but together with Galadriel."
Sauron's reflection: "And we will, my precious, we will. The rings are ours. We are the Lord of the Rings!"

I enjoy humanized, nuanced, complex, and humanized villains and gray characters with motivations and explanations for their evil. BUT not every villain has to be or should be. I also think there are many villains who are just pure evil and chaos and should be left as such. The Joker, Judge Holden, etc. Sauron is like Satan, he's the personification of pure evil.
By making Sauron like this, the writers deviated far too much from the essence of the character and who Tolkien intended him to be.

Oh, no, shipping villains and heroes has always been popular. It's just that it's a FANON thing for a reason. Corporations appealing to that minority of the fanfic crowd is, for lack of a better term, cringe.
That aside, whoever made this trash seems to have no concept of context or basic critical thinking. I've seen plenty of fanfics made by 12-year olds with a better grasp of how people act. Even if their writing also involves forcing two people to kiss (often themselves and whatever character they have a crush on) there's SOME semblance of cause and effect. This is nothing. It's chatGPT levels of nuance.

Trying to humanize Sauron is so insulting! That's like trying to insinuate that there is a serial killer among the Hobbits. That's not something that exist in this lore, just like trying to potray Sauron having feelings for Galadriel like he's some high schooler experencing puppy love. It's just disgusting!🤮

Because no one and nothing important was supposed to be there. The only reason Sauron was there, was because Morgoth didn't trust him and he was weaker than the Dragon's and Balrog's and that spot let Morgoth keep Sauron directly under his thumb!

I don't think 'just good v evil' can be that flat, my friend. It will involve politics and more cerebral themes unless it's chess and you just equate the colors to good or evil, BUT; they didn't execute it well here just from a plot-structure POV.
