You know, I hadn't played any of remedy's games before this year. When I decided to play AW 2, i thought i ought to go back to AW 1 as well, then i added control to that list, then I decided to just play all of them starting at Max Payne 1. After going through everything with max and growing to love James McCaffrey's performance as him as well as Trench I had that Spectre in the back of my head the whole time. Playing AW 2 a lot of the dialogue from and surrounding Alex Casey hits in such a different way and it feels like the horror of the story is trying to claw out to the real world I tear up Everytime I hear terminal case Casey.

This is my 5th time i watched all ur kh. Keeps me ready for kh4

I was re-listening to the control lore dump, and there’s a point in the end where Monty covers Jessie’s therapy session, where it’s revealed that Jessie’s favorite poet it’s Tom Zane, but the therapist can only find a Film maker by that name. Having played Alan Wake 2 now, and listening to the Lore Dump, I’m not sure if this theory has been presented yet, but the idea that Filmmaker Zane is actually the equivalent of Alan’s Mr. Scratch? IE: Poet Zane and Alan are trapped, trying to escape, while Filmmaker Zane and Scratch roam the world Just food for thought, LOVED the critique Monty and this lore dump!

I personally think that Alans Writing mostly work like this: If Alan knows about a person, he can call them into the story by writing about them, once he has written something like "Magdalena Cartwright had always wanted to be a pilot, and now on her 15th year as helicopter pilot, she flew to BrightFalls" And now every time he writes "Magdealena did" he calls on them now that they are added to the story. But he has to manifest them INTO the story first. However, some characters are people already there and their presence will nudge his writing simply due to their normal day to day activities and will eventually get themselves written into the story. He can make people sleepy if there is a reason for it, etc, biut there needs to be a reason for it, which they or he created.

Monty skips over the fact of just how much of a sniveling little bully the kidnapper is. He changed the location to show his dominance, he requested that Max Payne writes pages to assert his dominance as well. His toxic masculinity is basically what causes issues for Alan and his boss.

Capcom's pretended since the original RE2 that Ada's this complicated morally ambiguous character even though there's no moral ambiguity in Resident Evil because its writing's not good enough for that. She's a villain who delivers viruses and parasites to companies just as bad as Umbrella was. They also keep playing up how "mysterious" she is and it's gotten old because we've learned nothing about her past in the 26 years since original RE2 came out in 1998.

I think Tom wants to explore what he can become or what he can make with the power of the Dark Place (or depending on where the ability comes from, through manipulating the dark presence). Maybe he really was Tom the Poet originally, and made himself become a successful film auteur. It seems each time we hear more about Tom as a filmmaker, the amount of popularity or reverence his image and legacy receives is increased. Somewhere in AW2, someone (Casey in an echo?) even comments something like "He was supposedly a famous filmmaker come from Finland, but when I looked into him, all I could find was this one film." So he is Tom the Poet, obsessed with art but obviously not getting any fame. He comes to Bright Falls and enters Cauldron Lake, changes his story to have been a Filmmaker, an auteur with masterworks. He can write his story to have been different, but no matter what he writes, he's still in the dark place. But maybe he did eventually figure out how to fabricate something entirely, and created a writer. The Lake House does explore different forms of art with the Shadow and speculates that writing is inherently stronger. Idk, I know it's hard to take Tom's hints at this seriously towards our protagonist, but I can't stop thinking that they might really do it.

I didn’t see this get posted, but I’m glad I found it when I did. It’s been a hard week for a lot of us here in the US, and it helps a lot to just be able to listen to three buds geeking out over one of my favorite games for over 5 hours. Thank you guys.

A thought just occurred to me, not about Alan wake: have any of you guys played horizon zero dawn? Or rather, any of you NOT played it? Cause there's some wild lore in those games, the story is so good

Original series Leon on the other hand spends the rest of his life obsessing over a woman who pretends to care about him so she can use him to steal virus and parasite samples, threatens to shoot him then runs off.

When I first saw this video up I decided I would watch all the others I hadn't gotten around to for this series before. Ever since the American Nightmare dlc I suspected what's happening is to plausibly take ownership of the lakes power Alan intentionally subjected himself to the pitfalls and horrors to best understand and claim them. I don't think he ever actually failed in the dark place when it cane to writing. The overarching master narrative is that he would fail or seem to many times before the ascension that seems to be happening now.

This whole video has such a great vibe. I literally laughed and cried listening to you guys
