Take A BREAK Before Your BODY FORCES YOU To Take One #lewisgardenservicesltd
Whether you're suffering from physical or mental fatigue remember taking a break and giving your body time to heal is so important. It's something we all need to do now and then, men especially don't take care of their health and go as far as ignoring mental health completely. I did and needed to get away to start to heal, if you feel the same but can't get away give yourself a break in some other way and remember if you need to chat about things feel free to drop me a message. Talking helps.
Cheers for watching.

I’m sitting at work feeling totally burnt out 🥵 by everything not just work pressures and this video popped up in my feed
If you need a break just do it, talking also helps I found, once it's said it's out of your head more. Take care of yourself 👍
Really good video cheers. Got to step off the grind for a while. When your so busy you dont pick up on things yourself other people see it. Have a nice holiday!
Other people definitely see what's going on, especially those that care about you. The break away was good, thanks 👍
If you ever need to survive an apoc level event the tools you'll need is WD-40 and ducttape.
And zip ties 😅
Fair play Nathan iam currently up in north Wales on the Lynn peninsula for a week away with the family , so much needed
Enjoy that mate👍
Always put yourself and family first. Any job will replace you, so enjoy some time to relax and recharge!
You're right there, thanks 👍
Well said that man!....wise words and really good advice....speaking from experience. We all think we're in vincible in life until things go t$#s up and it can sneak up at any time. Enjoy your break away with the wife bud and keep up the awesome content you've been putting out on YT. First year self start up in the gardening business and i've learned a lot from your channel...cheersl👍Look after yourself.
Good luck with the business and things definitely can creep up on us without warning. It was a nice break away, cheers for watching 👍
Just enjoy yourself! If you can do it just do it mate! Im doing the same in october, lifes too short.
Gotta make the most of it👍👍 cheers
@LewisgardenservicesLtd yeah looks great there!
You are spot on, my wife tells me the same thing, you need to rest your body she tells me, and my response like yours and i guess many others. But how about the money that will be lost plus the cost of going on holiday, and the customers etc, then i get that look, so i then have to pull my head out of the work mode, and start listening and yep your right, your body will tell you that you are over doing it, when you listen to it, the struggle is finding that even keel of work time and down time in life, and what really matters, i am fortunate i love my job as a gardener, but the down side of that can mean i spend to much time working, and not enough time relaxing to recharge, so thanks for reconfirming what we all know, but find so hard to do when running your own business
It's difficult for us to see sometimes but those around us can definitely see it, we just need to listen. Definitely take a break when you can. Cheers and thanks for your comment 👍
Did you actually say you earn £2500 per week doing gardening work ?
Earn and business takes with a few of you out with a lot of kit are different things. Costs a lot to keep a business running. Cheers👍
Great timing needed to hear this today! Im running empty and need a recharge was worrying about the jobs but it's true- either choose the break yourself or your body will choose for you!!
Work will always be there when you come back and those that can't wait or understand you need a break might not be worth it. I didn't regret a week away at all. Thanks for watching and take care of yourself 👍
Listening to this sat on a sun lounger in Spain. This is me mate. A mirror image in everything you say. Hope the break was good mate and catch up at the shows.
Saw you got away mate, good on you. Too many of us keep pushing I think and just need to recharge now and then. Definitely catch up later in the year 👍 enjoy that poolside spot👌
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd thanks mate.
Thanks for the honest video
Thanks for watching 👍
Thanks so much, that’s exactly what was wrong, you rock, thanks so much 😎
Glad it worked for you👍
Yep I have been there I pushed myself on and on was busy and yh I had to break through health reasons so definitely experienced all I said . Now I have a holiday in the summer busiest time to recharge my batteries
Recharging those batteries is definitely needed now and then👍 thanks for watching 👍
I had one years ago that stormed round from next door every time I used a leaf blower demanding I either turn it off or ‘put it on quiet mode’. I simply said “f**k off it hasn’t got one.” and he didn’t bother me again. Thought it would escalate but didn’t 🤷🏼♂️ Following season asked me to do his garden, I went to see him turns out he was a psychotherapist working from home and his clients needed quiet. We set up a system where I only used machinery in between clients. Weirdly it worked, did the garden, well paid until he moved 3 years later. He never mentioned my bad language 😅
😅 funny how it works out sometimes
Thoroughly agree with all five. I started using a 3.4m tripod ladder in 2020, cost me £530 but was able to do an £800 hedge that I’d backed away from quoting for before. Proper game changer. Add in all my battery gear (still kept the petrol stuff 😉), not looked back. Great video as always.
Thanks and yes, tripods and batteries 👌
In 2 days i walk 27.7 miles cuttings lawns. Last Christmas 🎄 i said to myself need off this hamsters wheel. So that me 4 day a week not be going back to working 5 days a week anymore. Life to short & if i live to retirement age 67 will i be able to really do anything ?
It's surprising the distance we travel in a day's work, 4 days a week is a good shout 👍👍
You don't need to justify yourself mate. Listen to your body. It never tells you lies. It's all about finding the balance. Easier said than done I know.
The balance is key but like you say difficult to find sometimes. Cheers 👍
Absolutely spot on the money Nathan. If you add up all the hours we do working when not in work quotes email etc its even more . You have to have a perspective a ballance. Personally I have a cut off now a routine 8:to 4:30 I'm work with a dinner break .3 quotes a week and I select each quote I don't go to all of em mate .Don't tend to work many Saturdays either.. Top man Nathan recognising things is essential you done that .speak to others in the trade helps on that note my phones always on Nathan. Take care pal 👍
@@brickrightbuildinglandscaping cheers Justin, you helped by what you said the other week so thanks 👍 also good shout on your routine of work and cut off times. Cheers
@LewisgardenservicesLtd The routine is crucial I'm no expert just a guy same as you but if we can help each other out then great business is very hard but we don't have to be alone or think we're alone. We all been there 👊
You have to take a break I took 5 days off last week too mate hit me hard but back on it this week
More to life than just work my mrs always tells me off for doing too much
Definitely need a break, I graft way too much so I've been told but it's a difficult habit to break. Cheers Pete 👍
£12 per hour gets you 30 minutes.
Including travel time😅👍
After having half a lung cut off lung cancer in 2021 I now only work sort of part time and I'm ok with that not trying to kill myself anymore take that break if ya need it
That sounds rough and a real eye opener I bet to what's important. Hope you're still doing well. Cheers 👍
Wait you make £3k a week!?
If you don't do 2.5k a week for 3 of you out working all week with 15k of kit in the van being used how long do you think a business with all the costs keep going?
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd wow that is a lot of income, well done mate. I appreciate it is hard work though and the message of this video was very important.
@Steven-jn2cw cheers, that's not income as in wages I'm talking what the business takes tho.
I will be taking my week holiday in your part of the world Nathan, and I can't wait. Yes it's a week of not earning, but I have stopped worrying about that, I just want a week with my lovely lady and my dog Riley. And we will be doing a spot of house hunting too. God bless you brother Peace and love.
Gotta beel done and yes, don't worry about the list earnings. Where abouts are you staying?
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd we are staying in Milford Haven.
@kepadaservices1286 nice, some great spots from Tenby through that area although I usually end up in Tenby. Enjoy 👍
Good for you mate, no one's gravestone reads " I wish I spent more time at work." This year's been a killer especially in May with that mad growth with all that rain. You're a good egg and a right grafter 💪 I'm trying to do more weekly clients for this reason what with the weather and the aches and pains at 51, and it's so much easier to take a break schedule wise for time off etc. enjoy the rest of your break ☀️🌴🍺👍
Sounds like a plan 👌 home and back to it today, was a good break tho. Cheers 👍
Thank you for the message, takes guts and effort to do that and so true. That old saying less is more comes to mind, even a weekend getaway somewhere is a tonic for the spirit..... Look after yourself.
Weekends doing nothing special are my favourite, I work every other Saturday but do try and keep weekend ls free. Cheers and thanks for watching 👍
Thats a long walk to breakfast mate 😂😂...you deserve it buddy..i can see u work hard
It was a long way for a bacon roll for sure😅 cheers 👍
Sometimes its hard to listen to advice even when we know it is right. I think that age makes you understand in a way you cant ignore. Ive been doing this a long time now and i still dont rest, charge or relax enough. Like someone else said on here we love to say yes and help out especially the older people, i just wish i was more selfish and charged my worth but i cant help it! Anyway great videos as always, all the best.
Thanks and yes saying no and making time to take a break is hard work but something we have to do. Cheers and take care of yourself 👍
Everyone is me me me me go get your holiday the crap will still be there tomorrow Good old hamster wheel 😅
The good old hamster wheel 🙄😅
Everyone needs a break and should have one. When you have a hard physical job especially. I know I can’t work at the pace I used to! I know I’m not 20 anymore! I have in more recent years prioritised family time as I still have young kids. I’ve spoken to many guys who missed it because they were too busy working!!! Enjoy your break 🤗👍
You know the score mate and yes, realising we're not 20 any longer is a big part of it. Hope things are good with you, cheers Mark👍
Great video Nathan , we’ve just done the same after a very busy 6 months , just returned from a week in Cyprus , much needed break , from Gary’s Garden services in Pembrokeshire
Yea, gotta be done 👍 hope it did you good. We missed a wet week here too😅
Thanks for all the great messages, I wasn't expecting it for this one to be honest and wasn't going to upload it. As always the wife was right and she said, you have to as it may help someone else. The break away and support here has been brilliant to get me back on the right track. Many thanks 🙏
The honesty hits home hard. I think we all do it in this trade. When I start pushing it my Mrs always says how long can you hold a small cup of water out for? Yeah it's only a cup of water but at some point it gets to heavy and you have to put it down for a rest to be able to go again. Hope you have a good recharge mate
And she's right, we all need a break. I'm glad I went, back at it this morning now feeling much better. Cheers 👍
Sound Advice.
Thanks and cheers for watching 👍
Thanks for the reminder, "money can't buy time' booking a holiday now !😎
Go for it, did me good and I'm sure will do the same for you 👍 cheers
Ah crap man, the last bit got me, I could see the hurt in your eyes mate............take care buddy and enjoy your time away !
Me too, most people don't watch the last few seconds of videos so saying that was all for my benefit as saying something out loud takes it off yourself sometimes I'm discovering. Honestly... thanks
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd I had to lead my wifes horse out the stable a couple of years ago for the vet to do what had to be done.............lost a 27 year old friend that day........still haunts me, but we have to battle on ! All the best Nathan !
@Bacrenfencing terrible right, some won't get it but battling for 3 years to save that star in the making was tough, the whole last day I'd like out of my head to be fair
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd I get it mate !
I’m not sure if it’s funny or scary, but I’m totally with you. I didn’t realise this until this year. Of all people , I know how your life can change in the blink of an eye and how precious life and your health is. So it’s good to here your story and know your not alone in how important it is to listen to your body and take that break, even if this is the busiest time of the year for people in our line of work. Enjoy your holiday 🙏
The holiday was great 👍 Life can and does change so fast and nobody knows what's going to happen so enjoy it. Cheers for your comment 👍
Good on you Nathan. You both deserve your break. I’ve been running a 3 person up to 5 person gardening business in north Lancashire for the last 18 years. I like you will of done 50 hours a year. I’m now 58. My wife now works with me . She does 25k steps per day behind a stihl mower. That keeps you fit but takes it out of you. We now own a motorhome from her previous 37 year nhs pension. So we take 1 week out of 4 to recharge our batteries and see a bit of the UK we have taken for granted. You gotta enjoy your Tenerife or Cotswold break. The grass can and should and will wait mate. Always enjoy your no nonsense videos. Keep up the great work mate. Cheers dave
Cheers Dave sounds like you've got it right 👌 seeing more of the UK is something we want to do too. Lake district and Scotland first on the list 👍 thanks mate
Great video as always Nathan. I can honestly say as a 17 year old lad who left school last year and started my own gardening company as soon as I could drive after always wanting to work in the industry, the advice from your Chanel is so valuable and inspiring and has even got me thinking about setting up my own Chanel documenting what I’m up to. It’s so important to learn from people with so much experience and is definitely a motivator when it comes to work ethic and so on. It’s all really helpful. This video in particular couldn’t have come at a better time after working 7:30-6:30 6 days a week since February taking a few days off last week really helped me pick back up some energy after it felt like I was running on empty for a while. Thanks for the great advice.
Great to hear you're doing well in business and at an age where many aren't interested, good on you👍 thanks for the compliment too, honest hard work gets you a good rep but my main advice would be don't be a busy fool. Business head as well as grafting is needed. Cheers and good luck 👍
This is the best thing that I’ve heard and seen in a very long time! I reckon that God…or Google…’targeted’ me personally! As a gardener, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you’ve said! I feel like I’m on the verge of a breakdown, simply because I very rarely take a break….but mainly because I can’t say NO! It’s not for the money, though! I know that I don’t charge enough! Some customers are generous and it’s certainly appreciated whereas some others say that I should increase my prices, yet they never give me any extra! Anyway, I’ll take this video as a message to slow down, enjoy the hobbies again, that I used to do, and re assess my work/ life balance!
Definitely do it, maybe implement those increases to give you the same income but more time to yourself. Learning to say no can be tough. Cheers and take care of yourself 👍
Couldn’t agree more. Twenty years ago I wasn’t particularly interested in holidays, nowadays we go abroad four or five times between October and April and I wouldn’t change it for the world 👍
Sounds like you're doing it right 👍👍 cheers
Hi Nathan and great topic, when i had problems and needed help i heard a lot of wise words ,one of them being [ you can spend so much time making a living, you miss life], the saying i try to live by today is [ no amount of gold can buy my days ] i try to think this way when i feel my mind is running away with itself buddy.take care and thanks you help me.
You're right and some time away and support from others including these and your great comment really help. Back at it today with the usual issues but not letting it get to me or the lack of staff turning up making me run around like a fool. Cheers 👍
Great post to which I can 100 per cent relate to …….your body doesn’t always let you know thou ……trust me I was lucky recently now I don’t need telling twice we don’t comeback for a encore take it easy mate it so easy to think we gardeners can’t do time out unless you want it permanently 👍👍
Sounds like you had a lucky escape there and a reminder of what counts. Hope you're doing well and yes we only get one go around 👍 thanks for watching
All sorted thanks mate slimmed down the round think it’s time 64 now😂👍
Nice one Nathan.
Cheers 👍
Wise words Nathan, thanks for making this video. I'm sorry to hear you've been having a tough time, good on you for taking steps to change things. I hope things improve for you mate. Andy
A week away definitely helped. Thanks and cheers for watching and taking the time to comment 👍
Superb stuff from a decent man...
Thanks and cheers for that. Just doing what so many do so maybe saying how we feel sometimes hopefully helps👍👍
Bang on mate bang on !
Cheers, something that had to be said and rings true with a lot it seems. Cheers mate 👍
Enjoy your holiday, you deserve it
Thanks, it was good to get away and back to it today 👍
I think the hardest part of our job is dealing with the public not the physical work they really are taking years off us the mental strain of running your own business and what goes with it a Holliday is well justified and needed
They do add to it for sure, not all but some make up for others🙄 time for a sort out I think. Thanks for watching 👍
