Great topic here Nathan especially coming upto the busy season. Three strikes and your off my list. I want all gate codes keys and payment on time or I skip past the house like Santa dropping off bag of coal👊
👍money up front, all the gate codes, leave me a cider in the fridge and I'll let you know what takeaway you can send me for tea🤣 that's the future I'm going for🤣
It sure is, I'm trying to do more in the accounts side and with loading, unloading and sorting kit, seeing Jobs etc it can become a long day. You know how it is🙄 cheers 👍
I’ve just taken on a new client and asked for payment upfront for the whole year and they paid but I’ve only done it on this one as a trial to see how it works they did tho nice lump some into the bank which takes the pressure off whilst others pay up Great topic mate have a great weekend buddy Also picking up a new mower tomorrow etesia pro 46 👌🏼
Fair play mate Im in my second year of jobber but i dont use the automatic payments feature that often, I still give customers the opportunity to pay within a few days of the visit... If they don't then I'll cancel all visits until the balance is cleared
Great call, I don’t have any issue with payments tbh but does do my head in when people say they are going away and I can’t get access then want you there on the first day they are back 😡
Worked out nicely for you mate. I'm fairly lucky and only have to chase a handful of customers. Access issues, I'll only take them on now if I can have my own gate/garage key etc. Just haven't got time to make sure they're going to be in especially when it's raining so their set day may have to change
I don't carry out next visit unless previous one had been paid, apart from contracts. All my invoices state payment is due on the day. Every one knows where they stand and all happy,no complaints. It worked well last year, but this year Im having alot of problems with one particular customer not paying but still wants the garden kept on top of. I don't want to ditch them without trying to find a solution first so think Im going to try the payment in advance idea with them- cheers mate.
Lovely result! I had a similar situation last year. Customer promised me year up front this year to compensate....guess what? Still hasn't paid once this year 😂😂😂 in fairness I known its not malicious just absent-mindedness.
Thanks, it's all a mixture unfortunately. Some pay Bacs without an invoice, some every visit after or after every 2 so roughly monthly. Up front I do 2 visits in advance for trouble payers. No simple solution except monthly DD but not many want that 🙄
Hi Nathan, I am looking for a gardener and was wondering if you could do it? I have a fair large lawn at the back and lots of shrub work to do also. First one would have to be on you though, so I could see what sort of job you do and they we can negotiate a fair price for both going forward. Let me know if interested.
@LewisgardenservicesLtd You should take this guy on as your contract agent Nathan...with negotiating skills like he obviously has, imagine the deals he could get you...the sky's the limit! 😄👍
Thankfully all my current customers pay on time but I have had bad experiences in the past. One customer was late every single month without fail. Their response was ‘it’s only a £100’. In the end I ditched them and refused to give them their house key back until they paid me. Wasn’t the right approach but as a small business I need my customers to pay on time.
yes had a bad patch of it in the 2000s did the thing of dont go back after 2nd visit told other contractors about them info shared and move on eventauly they have to pay or do it themselves
Hi Nathan, good on you 👍 but personally I would get the monies I am owed and then tell them to stick their garden up their arse. You haven't got time to be chasing had payers
40 years in the trade, mainly commercial, the payment terms are listed on our quotation and the client is required to acknowledge and agree in writing to these. Will get the odd one that is a day or two late but no big problems. We have started to insist on 14 day terms with all new customers rather than the standard 30 days, so even if they go over 14 days we are still better off than a 30 day term. With domestics they get a price for the year and they pay in 12 equal monthly instalments by Standing Order only! We don't have to raise invoices for these, which saves a lot of time and there's no chasing. If they won't pay by SO we won't work for them, give it a try works for us.
Got a couple of customers who pay 3 months up front it makes a difference don’t forget to leave a invoice after the visits no arguments then s theirs a paper trail but it’s the way to go
I've got a large hotel that I've looked after for over 15yrs now. The previous owners were fantastic unlimited work and instant payment! Unfortunately it's now part of a bigger pub chain that take an age to pay last invoice was over 6 weeks and I think they only paid that cus I stopped working. They now have put part of the chain into administration! The current management there is now becoming rather challenging also. Having serious doubts about the place now been such a great job for so long 🤔😫
Shame when good jobs like that start to fail, doubt you rely on it but they become easier as time goes by. Sounds like your wouldn't want any invoices unpaid there tho. Cheers 🙄
I had one a few years ago that took a year to pay up £120 for a hedge cutting job. I only got that because I happened to bump into him (he lives in another country and seldom visits). He had the audacity to ask me to look after his garden last season, so I said the only way I’d work for him again is if he paid in advance for the entire year. To my eternal surprise, he actually did! Couldn’t believe it.
Contact jobs are the worst in my opinion, some customers forget so we send a gentle reminder asking them to check their payment even though we know it’s missed, but we try to be polite and not pushy, always gets settled in the end, had a couple of non payers of the years which is total BS
We do 12 gardens through a property management company, rentals for foreign military studying here. I invoice at the end of the month and without fail, they 'miss' at least one invoice out of the 12 every month. 🙄 Apart from that they're great to work for, so it's hard to get stroppy about it. I'm too soft I reckon.
Yea, gotta try and keep those sweet but I'm sure some drop an invoice on purpose, the worst case is they just say it was missed and if we don't pick it up then they're on the up 🙄 get it too often unfortunately but trying to keep on top more this year. Thanks for watching 👍
id ave a mobile sauna for buisness in uk there not so interested theres money to be made in this idea i come up with many options there were tent saunas from russia but thats hit a spanner in the works
Im an everything girl. Cleaner, gardener, dog walker. Luckily i make it a joke at the end of the visit: pay me! Tee hee But i only work for people who can't not people who won't so people with busy lives don't interest me. Old and can't manage people are for me.
Don't even go there about payments. Bloody pain in the arse, working all day then have to chase some clients for money. Funny, how they remember,to pay the day,for the last visit when you arrive. I m thinking about a card reader but most of mine pay straight away.l don't want to tarnish a few for all of them.

Hard to keep on top of everything aswell as grafting all day!

You played it well mate. Some i just dump after they finally pay but i am very patient with most. Most my customers just need a nudge now and then.
I think it's a case of knowing individuals and when and how you'll get paid. Some are no hope tho. Thanks Carl, hope you're doing well👍
I’ve just taken on a new client and asked for payment upfront for the whole year and they paid but I’ve only done it on this one as a trial to see how it works they did tho nice lump some into the bank which takes the pressure off whilst others pay up
Great topic mate have a great weekend buddy
Also picking up a new mower tomorrow etesia pro 46 👌🏼
Nice one, just catching up with your video.. BMW 👌 nearly as good as an etesia 😅
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd but not as reliable as the mower mate 😂
Spot on Nathan great idea for regular maintenance work 👍
Nice for regular stuff, guess you take percentages of work as you go with the bigger builds🤔 hope you're having a good weekend 🍻
Fair play mate

Some give and take is what it's all about unless like you say you have to draw a line. Cheers mate👍

Access can be a right pain and mess up your route some days. Cheers mate, hope you're doing well👍
Great topic 👍🏼
Thanks mate, always some angle when it comes to payment 😅

Hope it works 👍 it's a pain chasing payments.
Should i give up or should i just keep chasing payments, even if it leads no where 😂😂 i hear you nathan my days a chasing r over 👍
It's hard sometimes right mate? 🙄 Cheers 👍
Sounds like you turned a pretty terrible headache of a customer into a dream customer. Good job for sticking to your guns 💪
It can happen 👍
Keep ya eye on your canary 🤠👍
🤣will do
Lovely result! I had a similar situation last year. Customer promised me year up front this year to compensate....guess what? Still hasn't paid once this year 😂😂😂 in fairness I known its not malicious just absent-mindedness.
As long as you get it eventually I guess 🤞 cheers 👍
I'm loving the videos and learning a lot. Just wondering 🤔 do you bill the grass cutting jobs monthly?
Thanks, it's all a mixture unfortunately. Some pay Bacs without an invoice, some every visit after or after every 2 so roughly monthly. Up front I do 2 visits in advance for trouble payers. No simple solution except monthly DD but not many want that 🙄

@LewisgardenservicesLtd You should take this guy on as your contract agent Nathan...with negotiating skills like he obviously has, imagine the deals he could get you...the sky's the limit! 😄👍
😂😂 what usually swings me on price is “you can use my tools”
Oh yes please 😅

You got paid tho and those £100 debts soon build up when a few start doing it🙄 cheers 👍
yes had a bad patch of it in the 2000s did the thing of dont go back after 2nd visit told other contractors about them info shared and move on eventauly they have to pay or do it themselves
Yea, should only let it go so far I guess. Cheers for watching 👍
Hi Nathan, good on you 👍 but personally I would get the monies I am owed and then tell them to stick their garden up their arse. You haven't got time to be chasing had payers
If it's someone I really don't like or out of the way I'm the same, on route and can be done in 10mins I just treat it as business. Cheers 👍

Sounds like the ideal scenario, I've a few paying that way but most feel they might over pay 🙄 thanks for the great comment and thoughts on this 👍👍
Got a couple of customers who pay 3 months up front it makes a difference don’t forget to leave a invoice after the visits no arguments then s theirs a paper trail but it’s the way to go
Sounds ideal, yea everyone gets a slip through the door or monthly recap on when we called etc. thanks for watching 👍
So difficult to negate payments and relationships!
It sure can be, cheers for stopping by👍

Most times gentle reminders work, some really try and get away with not paying unfortunately tho🙄 thanks 👍👍

Love a woffel
Perfect then😅

Card readers are handy, funny how everyone is different in payment and some do try it on . Cheers 👍
You need to lower your seatbelt at the top. Safety first
🤣no need, everyone drives 12 mph now here in Wales, I need valium not a seat belt
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd haha yes forgot about that. Nice one for the vid
😂 or even bad payers
Tight bastards.
🤣🤣 they are out there

It's the type of person not the class, not that I'd know the difference between them😅
