this material: "you shouldn't have characters who are good or evil based on their race/species". OK, cool, that's basic good storytelling. Your interpretation of what this stuff says: "everything is happening on this positivist materialist level, that it's all just a question of narratives, and that there is no right or wrong or good or evil, and that there's nothing that can be held up as an ideal". WTF are you talking about bro. You think you're mad that this is telling you you can't have ideals, but it's literally telling you you should have the ideal of anti-colonialism.
That isn't an ideal. That's a revolutionary principle. And by ideal I mean something held up as archetypal. Finally, it is NOT "good basic storytelling" to have a world where supernatural entities and alien creatures act like they're woke leftists from 2025 Seattle.

It absolutely is. It is putting the postmodern leftist western paradigm into a world that couldn't possibly have it. I never knew Sandy had anything to do with Darklands! Lion & Dragon and Dark Albion brought that CRPG to mind when I first read the rules since they both had a dark feeling, the same temporal setting, and the stated aim in the book (or manual in the CRPG's case) of being authentically medieval as medieval people saw the world. Great stuff.
