Great video, I've got a 2004 Grand Caravan 3.3L that is starting to drip PS fluid down the driver's side tie rod. So I'm thinking I've got a rack replacement in my future. Your video is excellent, and funny thing is I was just looking at the price of racks on RockAuto. After looking at them more closely I decided to go with the Edelmann even before watching your video, nice to see confirmation here that I was on the right track. Got everything you recommended, including air, impact tools and sockets. Just have to check if my 18mm Gearwrench open end wrench is long enough (I also have the same Craftsman wrenches you do). Hopefully the differences between my 2004 and your van in this video is not going to be overly significant.

Good video but a few things confused me - Why are we suspending the caliper vs just setting it down gently? Will the break line not have enough length to do so? And what is the purpose of compressing the old pads in the caliper once they're removed? You mentioned the compressor to compress the caliper piston, but I'm not understanding the purpose of this step.

I'm amazed you even get that much light from the top onto the oil filter housing; it's just a dark vertical cave every time I change my filter. Is this motor the 3.8 like mine or a 3.3?

You can erase any EVAP codes after filling the tank and you won't see it till it gets down a quarter on the fuel gauge. After erasing the code, and you see the 1684 code which tattles on you for doing that, if you crank it 50 times, that 1684 will also disappear. It has to be full crank and run till the bell dings and instrument cluster is reset as normal driving. Then drive it about 100 miles and remember to refill the tank each time. Some inspections also check to see if it's been driven at least seven times, or once a day for a week. So long as you keep tank filled each time you drive it before cranking it again, then it will pass emission test. I got my 2003 Grand Caravan pass veip several years that way.

Before you do anything YOU MUST disconnect the battery & keep the doors closed if you have an SBC brake setup on your W211. If the system is activated while you're changing pads or rotors, the loss of fingers is a distinct possibility!!!!!

hi,i cleaned up my starter and when i placed it back i made pretty bad shortcircuit,car won t crank anymore and alternator doesn t charge,(started the car by pushing it),i have this code,how bad could be?

You could also use a bit of heat shrink tubing to cover the center pin on the relay.

I just bought a Cardone Rack and Pinion for my Silverado from Rockauto. The part was leaking oil right out of the box.

I always remove the brake fluid Reservoir cap when compressing the caliper, that fluid has to go somewhere and you risk blowing a line.

Water pump hasn't failed on my 06 T & C (yet) but I'm so glad to find this, I went through hell with a Caravan I had a few years ago with broken bolts on the pump. So now I'm prepared!! You were there for my front brake pad install I just wrapped up this morning 😊😊😊👍👍👍

This is the video I needed to see after viewing several others which weren't quite right for my 06 Chrysler Town & Country. All the others had the spring retainer clips, but mine doesn't and it's identical to your Caravan. I was stressed about that, having a 300 mile road trip ahead of me tomorrow. Hooray, I got 'er done!

Just happened to me today while changing the tires on a toyota didn't even get to torque it up to more than 30nm and snap and the bolt had rust inside the breaking point guess it was doomed to fail

This helps a lot, just bought a 2000 slk with 80k miles for 5k, but the door panels are loose and the paint on the center is falling off, I'm thinking I may just sand and wrap the the center console and dash with carbon fiber vinyl, other than that mine is in pretty good shape, it had one owner and he said It sat in his garage for 15 years, and after finally retiring, he cleaned up the engine and gave it a much needed tune up and listed it for sale which he said he had it for sale for another 4 years, then listed it for 5k, and I bought it

I threw a EGR valve code, I cleaned it up, cleared the code, and drove it for like 20 miles then threw a vapor code like this, I had the EGR valve off so I thought it was that, then the EGR code came back, I replaced the egr cleared my code and now I wait to see what if any come back, this stuff annoys me

My miny van 2008 put new cable apart plug still do saint problem got to work stared put drive got like 15 or 20 minutes stared like no power stop running with power put pedal do no want run take pedal out put back stared run-in again do like no power little be power motor coming back any body can let me know got saint problem o whatt can be the problem thank
