Having lived off-grid with my partner for eight years in Montana we embarked on a new chapter in Arizona. While the landscape may have changed, our passion for sustainable living remains steadfast. Together, we'll navigate the challenges and delights of homesteading in a new environment, drawing from our hard-earned skills while embracing new opportunities for growth. Utilizing self sustaining methods, permaculture and earthworks, our goal is to create a healthy ecosystem that produces abundance in the form of a food forest.

A Rocket Stove Beginning
The main focus is sealing up all the walls, but there is a corner i want to really finish so Brandon can continue the wood work. As well as starting the rocketstove! Using a just mud adobe mix and rocks topped with upcycling with cans. All this mudding is interconnected into sealing up the walls. ✌🏾💜🌍

Can Wall for Christmas
มุมมอง 2Kวันที่ผ่านมา
It was a glorious christmas as i started sealing up the bales with a can wall! A similar process to the bond beams on an Earthship. It will secure in the bales and seal all the holes. While there is still more to this process, it was amazing to get it started! ✌🏾💜🌍 Email off_grid_werewolf88@hotmail.com Nekas Amazon Wish List www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/RWT5B4V9CNZ4?ref_=wl_share Cash App @CoC...

I Needed a Break from Rocks
มุมมอง 1.4K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
Taking a break is very important when working hard. I collected rocks and sifted dirt from an earthwork to clean it up a bit and give the sketched out earthwork more shape and improve it. I prepped for the next batch of mud, but decided to just do light chores for the day. Then I worked on the wall the next day. I am officially half way done!! Slow and steady is key as to not burn oneself out. ...

While the process is very repetitive, the progress is really taking shape. It is a constant cycle of collecting rocks, sifting sand, mixing mud, and working on the current project, and the cycle is far from over! From the divider walls, to the bottle walls and now at the gabion walls, Soon the inside walls and all the mudding that needs done to build the inside. There are still many mud project...

Thank you, nice that you shared that w us. 👍
fantastic walls... great job. i use a trowel alot when i make plaster walls, have you ever used one? what do you think of them?
@@Citizenspress thank you! They are definitely helpful in many instances, especially smooth finishing touches. I used trowels more in our first build, and overtime used my hands more. Just my preference through experience and experimenting I suppose 😅✌🏾💜
👍

My sister was a hippie she passed in 2019 but she always talked about building this type of home when I go to visit her grave I'm going to tell her all about your home and that she was right all those years that we thought her ideas were qurkey. Her name was Becky' she had MS she would have loved watching your videos. When I watch you remind of her so much . Have to go now that im really missing her.
Being reminded of a loved one can be a bitter sweet thing. I appreciate your desire to tell Becky about our home. I can’t imagine how much you miss her. Always take the time to heal and mourn and miss her.❤️🩹

😅 Glad to give ya a chuckle ☺️ thank you! So exciting to see the smooth walls ✌🏾💜
@a_fellow_homesteader indeed I'm looking forward to both your guyses videos for the next progression
Do you do anything to cover the holes in the cans? Are you going to mud over those rocks in the gabion wall? My concern is critters making homes in those spaces.
@@judischarns4509 the cans will be covered for sure, just getting the first layer done to seal the bales. The rocks on the gabions will be covered on the outside, but not be covered inside, the spaces between will be filled in with mud& pretty rocks ✌🏾💜

Your place is looking awesome!
Hi again Brian lol
Thank you so much! We been getting. Lot done 😄✌🏾💜
The rocket stove is a good idea... I watch another earthbag YT channel that puts those in all their buildings and they seem like they do really well.
they work well. I use a rocket stove on my patio I made out of bricks, its a nice bbq stove for my burgers
Rocket stoves are absolutely amazing. The rocket stove in our Montana EarthShip would warm the whole floor and radiate heat all night. They have proven to us to be the most effective way to heat a space. Use less wood, absorbs and retains more heat and can be designed in many ways to fit ones needs. ✌🏾💜
We love making simple little rocket stoves to cook on! We have built one to smoke a turkey the last two thanksgivings ✌🏾💜
Always liked the warm earthy look of adobe ☮
Same! Really makes it cozy looking 💜
What is the proportions for your mud?
@@PR.Hobbit I have a playlist that goes over my mid mixes. This mud here is just dirt and water with cedar fibers. We have a very good dirt content for this kind of mudding ✌🏾💜 th-cam.com/play/PLejUT6UHIfqKxYMJYUFwROxJBUIiqEtep.html&si=RHwhElYIUfJ8Hu4d
@@a_fellow_homesteader Awesome! Thank you I have cedar fibers from Hog fuel that I get for free ... glad I asked but I'll watch your other videos :)
@ I love using the cedar fibers! The other videos will just go more in depth than what I can comment 😅 thank you for watching!
Wondering what the reason for plastic bottles? Thank you for your excellent explanation of how you do this amazing work!
@@PR.Hobbit 😄 thank you! a couple reasons for the plastic bottles (or cans): to upcycle, use less mud in the space, creates some insulation with the air gaps, and less needed material to purchase ✌🏾
