  • I laid rock in our Montana EarthShips. They were a long time coming floors. One of the reasons the move was so hard was because I left beautiful artwork made of blood sweat and tears.

    Takes a lot of patience to find and fit all the rocks into such a beautiful floor 👍😎✌️

    It's only just sinking in now that you're not only building a whole Earthship yourselves but that you've built a whole house from scratch already. Woman, Respect!. Like seriously!

    Wow!!! Just wow, that looks really great and I love the plants! Do you remember what kind of banana tree that was? I had a Texas Star I believe but it died after transplanting😢
    I wanted to ask, in another video you talked about a sink made out of mud. Was it mud and rock? Did you finish it with boiled linseed oil or something else and how often did you have to reapply if you did. Sorry for all the questions but it'd really like to know more about the sink you made😉
    Still going through your older videos slowly

      Thank you! I can’t wait to be built up enough to have so many plants again! It was an ice cream banana. A more “cold hardy” variety. It lasted 2 years growing in our MT EarthShip greenhouse. But the third winter got far to cold 😭
      The sink was just mud! And some tile. I made a frame and then made a skeleton sink shape with chicken wire and stages how the pipes needed to go. Then I soaked old towels in a concrete slurry and laid it in the sink shape and kinda paper mâchéd it so I could build up the rest of the sink. It’s hard to describe. I painted it with acrylic paint. I didn’t have to give it another coat before we moved. It worked super well to keep the sink sealed. I am pretty sure I will be making another one for this build! I will sure make a video on it! ✌🏾💜

      @a_fellow_homesteader That would be great to see if you do. I think I get the idea, I had thought of doing something with fabric and concrete, but never thought of a sink! Super cool, you guys rock!

    Why did you leave?

    • @a_fellow_homesteader
      @a_fellow_homesteader  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gracealonso275 many many reasons. High prices/taxes, didn’t like the way things were changing, some “prepper” reasons, but mostly, because the winters. They are extremely long and harsh. 6-9 months and can get down to -70, some weeks without anything warmer than -15. Makes homesteading pretty tricky and even harder to accomplish some of our goals. So we went to warmer weather. I was born and raised in MT, so a change of location was kinda cool too. ✌🏾💜
