hi fella always good to see what your up to, l got a question for you in regards to your trommel. mainly because l like the look and build of yours. my question is about the trommel drum roller chain sprocket, looked via the net but can't seem to find anything near that size. l have a good reduction right angle drive unit and chains engine not a problem, have thought of going flat tooth drive belt direct to trommel barrel but is slip going to be a problem. any advise would be of help best regards rod wilson
Good to see a new video from you again. I enjoyed hearing about your modifications to the crusher. Have to check my engineering books and learn more about belt/pulley profiles. Mark from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Killing it man🤟🏻

Woo hoo! Glad you uploaded
Thanks Garrett! Nothing too special, but an upload nonetheless. Should be some good ones coming soon hopefully 🤞🏿
@@TheGoldmansChannel awesome, I'm looking forward to it!
Great job, nice alterations, thanks for sharing
Thanks Jeff! 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Hey mate does the toggle plate rest against the 40mm eccentric portion of the bar? And the springs help retain its contact after doing a throw forward? Love the whole setup mate, you going to move some ground soon?
Good morning mate! Thanks for watching, and dropping a question/comment. The toggle bar sits in the bottom of the moving jaw to allow the whole moving jaw free movement in a slight rotational action. Toggle bars just give it a solid point of attachment at the bottom, the top of the moving jaw is fixed solid to the centre pillow block bearings that make the jaw move in that motion. Hope that makes sense? Let me know. Cheers!
@TheGoldmansChannel thanks for replying mate do you get decent use out of the pillow blocks on the main jaw?
Pleasure mate 👍🏿. I have so far, yes. I'm not sure how many tonnes I've put through the crusher now, but there's is zero signs of wear in those 4 pillow blocks or bearings yet. I've been told there are sturdier pillow blocks available also, but I can't remember their details. So far, so good, with these ones anyway.
Nice rig, well done! Thank you for the update.
Cheers Gary 👍🏿
👏👏👍
G'day mate, nice of you to grace us with your presence.😉 🐾
Thanks Mic! Good to be back doing a little filming. I've got a massive back log of footage from recent adventures, so buckle up! More videos to come!
I think that it is brilliant. I watched the videos from when you were building it. And out of curiosity I also did a quick check for what a commercial jaw crusher would cost, and the commercial jaw crushers are crazy expensive. So if you have the materials, the tools, and the skills then it makes perfect sense to build your own jaw crusher. If I had to make a final adjustment then I would weld some beads on the jaws from the crusher over the entire width with 5 millimeter spacing between the weld beads with some very hard alloy welding rods, and the beads should run from top to bottom on the jaws. The ridges from the weld beads would relieve some force from the motor because the contact point with the rocks would be much smaller, and I think that the crushing would go a little faster, and it might also crush the rocks a little smaller. Especially if the weld beads on each jaw are fitting in each others "teeth" like for illustration purposes a gear would do. The gear example is a bit of an exaggeration, but you know what I mean. A big 👍 for your ingenuity.
Hey Tuna! Good to hear from you. You're very correct about the pricing of pre fabbed jaw crushers, they're quite expensive! I did some rough maths, and even if I had to buy a brand new GX270 with a reduction box on it, and purchase all materials brand new, I reckon the total cost would still come in at less than $2000. So those with basic skills, could absolutely save themselves a heap of money on a build like this. I may run a few beads of weld up the faces one day, it would help for sure. Just looks a little messy. Couldn't look any worse than my welding on that flywheel though, could it! 😆
@@TheGoldmansChannel hahaha if the welds hold on that machine then I think that it is fair to say that it is a good weld. 👍
So far, so good, on that part Tuna. They're ugly, but they hold haha. 😎😅
Excellent update. Thanks heaps

@@TheGoldmansChannel I've been working and getting as much gold as possible on my days off. Personally I can't complain and it wouldn't do me any good to complain. I moved to the Pacific Northwest Coast of Oregon. This place is full of gold and platinum ores. So much hasn't been discovered here yet. I am out searching for the next Big strike one weekend at a time. It was good to see you and your super chipmunk upgraded 👍
Happy Days
Mr Karl really you have grate experience about making jaw crushers smartly. I want to prepare one like this for gold minning project in Hargeisa so may you help me for further more indications about that?

Excellent video. Very impressive operation you guys have got going. Thank you both for posting.
Love it , home made is the best!
Bloody oath mate! Why buy, what we can make. Extra points for using recycled materials also 😁
Have the bearings lasted? Also would a couple 2 piece clamps beside the bearings help hold the shaft with all the vibration.
Bearings have held up no problems at all Richard. I've put quite a few tonnes through the little Jaw crusher now and it's been bloody fantastic. Well and truly exceeded my expectations. I have made some minor changes to things also though. I will upload a review video of the Jaw soon, detailing changes and better ideas for others to try. Thats a good idea mate, even just a little welded plate behind the bearings each side would be very handy. That would remove the slop from the bolt holes. I have the bearings pushed all the way back towards the motor for this reason, but little positioning plates behind the bearings would be much better. 👍🏿👍🏿
This video is great. it shows that if I have all the gear and do a lot of work in a great location I can make about $50 a day. So as much as I want to do this and would enjoy making and testing the gear its like all hobbies. Expensive. keep the videos coming I'll enjoy gold mining from afar.
Amazing
Hello how can I remove silver from my fine gold? The gold has been xrf test to 97% with 3 % silver. Is there are to smelt the silver out to 9999’s?
G'day Jenko, you can remove the silver quite easily with some chemistry. But it does require some basic equipment. Research "Gold Inquartation" to learn the process. Inquartation is the easiest way to remove your silver, it will involve adding more silver to the mix with a melt, to bring the silver content up to around 75%. Once there is approx that amount of silver in the mix, you can easily dissolve all of the silver off in some hot dilute nitric acid. Leaving just the gold sponge behind. The silver can then also be recovered again with the addition of copper to the waste solution. The copper will replace the silver in the solution slowly, leaving you again with near pure elemental silver in your beaker.
Great video and enjoyable viewing. Thank you.
Thank you! 😁
Dude I watched this in its entirety a long time ago but i forgot or was loopy. Your execution and design were spot on, and you really did a good job! I've mocked up an 8" pipe with 1/4 steel plate backing, and just gonna swing shackles and chain. Running off corded right angle grinder. But I'm fricken lazy
Thanks heaps Aug! I'd really like to see a vid of your mentioned crusher in action by the way mate. I get all my ideas, by seeing everyone elses ideas come to life. So it's always great to check out another build 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Yeah man same principle of sideways hamburger. Outer plate just all thread bolted and sandwich the pipe. Need a fill tube, maybe 2" steel pipe. I lack a welder. Have a little experience, training, but being a carpenter a welder is low priority. But now I need one damn it! ✌️✌️⛏️⛏️ right on bro! It's definitely a lifestyle
nice going just looking a the nuggets some of them tell a story, if you know how to read them cheers
They sure do Rod! What do they tell you mate? How far from the reef are we?
@@TheGoldmansChannel spot on we expect to see more from that location cheers mate
The first thing I noticed is the pump is soo close to the water. Might fall in ?😢 Good video
Had that happen a few times over the years 😅. Not for a long time though, I'm careful with the positioning. Finding the perfect balance between a safe spot for it to sit, that's also close enough to the water to reduce load on the engine and in turn, save on fuel costs 😁
Where have you been
Walking the hills, patiently searching for that Motherlode 🤑
This is awesome, I have all this steel around to build one but having trouble finding eccentric shafts and bearings to match. Any pointer where I can get some?
The eccentric is really something that will need to be manufactured by your local engineering/fabrication shop Beefer. Or if you have any friends that own a metal lathe, go visit them and draw up some designs. Bearings are about the easiest bit usually, readily available online. But if you get stuck, ask the fabrication shop to source them for you when they do the Eccentric 😁
What is the offset measure that you used on your shaft?
I went with a 10mm difference, which more or less gives me a 20mm throw. 30mm diameter either side of the 40mm centre. I would go with a 15mm difference if I did it again, giving it a 30mm throw. I wasn't confident my engine was going to deliver the power it needed at that time. But in retrospect, it would have handled it fine with the pulley ratios I'm currently using.
Sounds good I’m going to try bearings with 13mm difference I think
Sounds great Mark 👍🏿 Get into it mate 👍🏿
i suppose the creek runs more freely
Thankyou

Sdc2300 goes good and that was an awesome nugget gotta be happy with that, i think i need to purchase 1 myself now😅
The SDC are a great little machine, there are a few design flaws, but there's no doubt that are a beast on the small gold.
@@TheGoldmansChannel could you let me know what to look out for plz mate cheers for the replies
The knuckles are the biggest issue. They flog out very quickly, so we ALWAYS tape up the knuckle so it's rigid and can't be twisted side to side. They only need to be adjusted vertically as you're going. The telescopic shaft also flogs out very quickly, so we tape over the cam locks and the shaft below each cam lock before use also. Keep an eye out for cracks on the top cover plate and general top area of the coil also, some recent batches of coils have been poorly constructed and are prone to cracking. This renders the detector useless under water. Extreme care should be taken under water also, as minelab only install a basic rubber grommet inside the coil where the cable enters. Some work fine forever, some leak after a few hours of use in the water, some fail quicker! If your detector suddenly becomes hypersensitive to everything around it, you've almost certainly had water enter the coil.
@@TheGoldmansChannel thanks for the helpful info mate appreciated
My pleasure Dylan. Beautiful nugget you've got in your display pic there too, by the way!
Crazy that you disturb your sluice before getting a catch baison under the end of it. picking up the black mat over the v mat likly lost some gold and also change in velosicty of water goofs up the retention behind the riffels. Like your trommel very much. Seems to me water flow under the riffels through the miners moss will hinder gold retention. I used a highbanker with 35 feet of sluice and friend were amazed that I had gold all the way down it. Have to compliment you however not kicking over the concentrates pan hauling the pump and trommel passed it, that's my usual trick. Curious would it not been more productive to have used time spent paning cons on the creek running another 20 minutes through the trommel?
Video coming soon to hopefully put an end to this myth mate. I've been slowly aggravating people with that one over time, with the intent to clear that issue up 😁
Thanks for the adventure....

Not Bad A-Tall Bro' 🦾👍😎👌
Thank you Lester 🤟🏿
2.25 grams for fifty buckets makes me feel a bit better about my last efforts . But man your gold is sooo much chuncker and prettier than the flakey stuff I get over this side of the hill.I remember making multiple trips to cart my trommel in and out of spots too. What a pain when you dont have enough fall to run a river sluice. great video as always Bryan.
It certainly is beautiful gold hey Jethro! Were only about 500m from the structure it shed from, so that's why. Seems there is another reef close by also, purity of approx 75% if I had to guess. This gold looks to be 97%+. Which is very nice colour indeed 😀
Good stuff mate, are you testing your sluice tailings? If it was me I wouldn't be altering the flows with my hands while the water is still streaming..
Thanks Darren! I didn't sample my fine tailings this time, no. I rarely do, to be honest. I stopped worrying about losing gold about a decade ago. Did a heap of experimentation with sluices, flow, and feed rates to establish recovery rates. The end result was clear. Gold doesn't like leaving the box. Bugger all of it even makes it into the blue miners moss, let alone coming out the end. And I always "swish" out my boxes by hand to reduce volume. Many years ago I lost a big flat flake by being a bit aggressive with my swish. But that was in a clean up sluice with 10 or so grams packed into it. Like I said, gold ain't easy to kick out of a good box 😁
I did detect over the fine and course tailings with the 5000 before I left though. You just never know when a nugget is going to pop up.
@@TheGoldmansChannel thanks for the reply mate, I realise you know what your doing! Your mat set up would rarely loose gold, and you would of tested the F out of it, I'm just envious I can't use a trommel or highbanker legally up north🤣enjoy your videos mate👌
Nsw I gather? I feel for you mate! The rules up there suck. No doubt Vic will suffer a similar fate before too long either. But I won't stop diggin' either way 😝
