I do think however your grades would be much higher than what ya seeing, Is there much left in the mill after running a sample run or do you hose it out clean? An Armstrong crusher straight onto the table would be awesome to see.

Personally I would prefer to see you in a proper harness system but I also understand your comments about too much rope being a hazard. I have to harness up when cleaning gutters on some of the buildings at the school I work at and the hazard is when you are trying to back away from the gutter and stand up again. So you must have some catching up to do 😉. It's such a ripper, soooo happy with how it all turned out up at the plant. I'm glad you understand what I mean about the harness thing, the only close calls I ever had in my 6 years of roof work (comms work and later electrical and solar) were due to my fall arrest systems. I'm not a fan of using it unless absolutely necessary. If I were still a 98kg bacon monster like I used to be, that may be a different story. But I can support my own weight with one hand on the rope now that I'm a bit fitter. So it's perfect for this type of confined space work. Very lucky in that regard 😁😁😁

In a industrial mine it would be more than enough, if you have 4million ounces :D. Lost of snow here in Finland, Only few months until gold trips :D
Consistent free mill gold of 4-5g/t is fantastic for any mining company with a decent crushing plant. Great little income to keep the bank account topped up between chemical treatment batches. Hopefully the owners bring some equipment over soon and get to work!
That was bloody hard work mate ! That stope you went down onto had some nasty looking plates hanging from the walls, and the ( think you called them stahls ) were rotted out and on the floor of the adit 😳 Your a braver man than me.
Cheers mate, much appreciated! As I mentioned in another comment a minute ago, the wide angle of the GoPro makes every small crack in the wall and roof appear much larger. The area I was working in was actually really good, I didn't have to scale back much dangerous rock at all. The old stulls are certainly worse for wear though. Judging by how many are laying around on the adit floor I'd say the had heaps of them right the way up through that rise at one point. Which is sensible, as that ground is quite soft and likes to peel back in sheets, just like you said.

It's pretty rare for me to have the harness on, it would want to be a very deep hole for me to bother. Having done heaps of roof work over the years, I came to realise the harness and ropes were more of a hazard 90% of the time. Funilly enough, just having the rope slipping through one hand while I'm climbing around is enough to make me feel 100% safe. Just knowing it's there if I need it lol 🤣🤣

Yes, absolutely mate, I've definitely got plenty of confidence when it comes to climbing. Spent most of my childhood in the tree tops. Never broken a bone either, but that may just be dumb luck, haha. Cheers mate! And thanks for how much attention you pay to my videos. It's great when people pay enough attention to see the plant and everything slowly improving over time. Such a silly mistake losing track of the chains life span like that. I'm normally pretty good at knowing when to do them. They turned a 2 hour sample into a 5 hour job 🤣. And of course, once its all running, you can't just shut it off and replace them mid way, you've gotta ride it out at that point lol. Never again!!
Thanks Gavin! The highly mineralised ore that gave me trouble from my 3rd last sample sure was some nasty stuff to deal with! I've still got about 5kgs of the concentrates here to experiment with, dilute nitric helped but wasn't a complete success. If its Galena, hydrochloric acid would have been a better one to try based on previous experiments. But in all honesty, I'm still not certain what that mineral was! I best play around with it some more soon. Just a real shame it interfered so much with this last sample. I had no idea where was still so much of it stuck in the ball mill 😅
Best not to mix HCl and Nitric if I still want to see that gold. That's aqua regia right there, my man. 😜 Sulphuric is good for certain tricky metals I've heard, but mostly only good for metals more reactive than copper. This is all something I need much more practice at! I'm prone to making a mess of my chemical experiments, lol.

do you have issues with the quarz not separating from the heavies? not sure if it is the width of the table or the stroke/frequency that could be optimised after the mill?
It can be an issue when dealing with super super heavy minerals, but typically the table does an amazing job. It needs to be fine tuned to suit each ore I'm processing. But overall, it's a bloody ripper. A little quartz in with the number 2 cons isn't a big deal, saves having to add it later when smelting. All in all, the plant has never run so well! Just need to get back out and do some more sampling now.
Love your work as usual . The plant worked a treat. Im wondering if that super heavy mineral might be galena . if so there should be quite a bit of silver in the ore as well. maybe time for a fire assay.
You could very well be right Jethro! I've still got heaps of that mineral put aside here, so I'll experiment with it some more soon. It did have a little gold in it also, perhaps a gram or 2/t. Not the 10 ounces it sounded like with the SDC though 🤣

I've been very quiet on here of late sorry, we've been having some great success detecting some beautiful nuggets over in the Golden Triangle region of Victoria. It's a long trip over there and back for us, but the gold has been incredible. Making it well worth the tediously long drive. The best thing is, it's all on private property! So we have exclusive access to an absolute bonanza. Very very lucky 😁
You know, for a very low price, you can buy a harness and an ascending/decending rig instead of putting your body or life in jeopardy for dirt and 20 dollars gold sample!!
Yes NP, I do know that. I've got all the gear, but I don't use it very often. A rope or 2 is usually plenty enough to make it safe for me. My original plan for this one didn't work out, hence the extra climbing and effort. Probably an AUD $60 gold return, plus the info that gets recorded, plus the revenue from the video on here. It all adds up 😁
How are the chunky bits bypassing the ball mill? I didn't understand how the ball mill pick-up bin was setup to allow the big heavies to flow out the channel. I have watched all of your videos and don't remember you going over that add-on (maybe you didnt). Still though, very beautiful setup. Looks like paradise.
Howdy mate! First off, thanks heaps for your support, in viewing all of my videos. I sure appreciate that 🤟🏿. To your question, the chunky gold doesn't bypass the ballmill, it's almost all caught in the little ribbed matting tray, just before it enters the ball mill hopper. That tray was only added early this year I believe. Before that, it would end up either staying in the ball mill hopper because it was so heavy it found its way into the deepest cracks. Or it would be picked up by the ball mill scoop and end up being obliterated by the steel balls (very slowly may I add). Hope that answers your question mate, cheers!

Make sure you filter off the nitric acid as it may have silver in it. Filter and put some copper in it. Try using hcl to get rid of the minerals instead nitric acid.
Smart chap Mr.Green! That's exactly why I used dilute nitric. I havent had much experience with free mill silver, but I thought I'd test the theory with this stuff seen as it was so heavy. There is precipitated metal from the addition of copper to the waste solution from those experiments. But it does not appear to be silver. It certainly didn't act in the way silver has in the past when ion swapping with copper bars. Strange isn't it!
@@TheGoldmansChannel seems as there isn't much silver in it. I refine gold from ewaste, I have done a bit of silver and found if it doesn't act like silver it probably isn't, or isn't worth it.
I've slightly dabbled in the same myself and have found silver to usually be the easiest bit. One thing I haven't tried with these concentrates yet (assuming it is galena as I suspect) is dilute nitric to chew it all up, filtration to remove junk and any released gold, and then the addition of HCl to perhaps get the silver to drop out as a chloride? It makes sense in my head, but i haven't tried it yet. Seen as copper is quite reactive, I'd say whatever the precipitant was in my beaker last time was pretty contaminated with whatever else had been dissolved. HCl should only react with the silver in the Nitrate solution hopefully. But I'll let you know how I go when I try it mate 👍🏿👍🏿

Thanks heaps Sam! Fair question, the main reason is I'm just not as interested in the small time alluvial prospecting anymore. Like most prospectors, I started with a pan and worked my way up slowly, bit by bit, having enjoyed pretty much every form of alluvial work along the way. It sort of feels like I've done all I can with that. Where as my hard rock journey is really only just beginning. Just over 10 years into hardrock now, and I'm still well aware I know very little about it, and still have tons of stuff to learn!

try sampling that purple/maroon looking material. I have seen mines in the US deserts where most of the gold is in there for some reason. It looked like the previous miners had left that behind in this mine, since it was all over the walls in your video. PS. get yourself more rope and a roll of yarn, then you can tie loops around the bags and pull the rope through once it reaches the bottom. You are doing many times more labor with all that climbing.
I definitely should have bought more rope, just didn't expect to need to do it that way when I planned the trip. Things rarely go perfectly to plan though. So I should have been more prepared! Have tested the funny coloured stuff, rarely has a speck in it. Strange isn't it!
Some of the finished cons were meant to be sent off for assay, like they usually are. But I contaminated the sample this time, so there's no point sending it off. It will just display minerals that aren't actually from that location. My mistake, I should have let the ball mill run out for much longer before I ran this sample.

@@TheGoldmansChannel seems as there isn't much silver in it. I refine gold from ewaste, I have done a bit of silver and found if it doesn't act like silver it probably isn't, or isn't worth it.
I've slightly dabbled in the same myself and have found silver to usually be the easiest bit. One thing I haven't tried with these concentrates yet (assuming it is galena as I suspect) is dilute nitric to chew it all up, filtration to remove junk and any released gold, and then the addition of HCl to perhaps get the silver to drop out as a chloride? It makes sense in my head, but i haven't tried it yet. Seen as copper is quite reactive, I'd say whatever the precipitant was in my beaker last time was pretty contaminated with whatever else had been dissolved. HCl should only react with the silver in the Nitrate solution hopefully. But I'll let you know how I go when I try it mate 👍🏿👍🏿

Thanks heaps Sam! Fair question, the main reason is I'm just not as interested in the small time alluvial prospecting anymore. Like most prospectors, I started with a pan and worked my way up slowly, bit by bit, having enjoyed pretty much every form of alluvial work along the way. It sort of feels like I've done all I can with that. Where as my hard rock journey is really only just beginning. Just over 10 years into hardrock now, and I'm still well aware I know very little about it, and still have tons of stuff to learn!

try sampling that purple/maroon looking material. I have seen mines in the US deserts where most of the gold is in there for some reason. It looked like the previous miners had left that behind in this mine, since it was all over the walls in your video.
PS. get yourself more rope and a roll of yarn, then you can tie loops around the bags and pull the rope through once it reaches the bottom. You are doing many times more labor with all that climbing.
I definitely should have bought more rope, just didn't expect to need to do it that way when I planned the trip. Things rarely go perfectly to plan though. So I should have been more prepared!
Have tested the funny coloured stuff, rarely has a speck in it. Strange isn't it!
You know the rules about plans! Always plan to use plans A through to Z and then some! 😂

Why don't you do a proper assay on each concentrate you get? Gold can be marginal to other metals hidden there or as oxide in the rock even.
Some of the finished cons were meant to be sent off for assay, like they usually are. But I contaminated the sample this time, so there's no point sending it off. It will just display minerals that aren't actually from that location. My mistake, I should have let the ball mill run out for much longer before I ran this sample.
