You make picking up the heel flap stitches so easy. Hard is an understatement for this sock knitting newbie but I WILL perservere. Thank you for the tutorial.

Wool sock yarn, particularly the indie dyed yarn, is usually superwash: it dyes beautifully and can go in the machine. But superwash is not as springy as untreated wool. It’s a trade off. The superwash wool+nylon yarn wears like iron and is brilliantly colored, but it just doesn’t have any bounce and will lose some its shape after wearing.

That mock cable is featured in the Caitlyn Hunter sweater “Stromboli”. Whole thing looks like fancy cable, but it’s very simple and no cable needles!

Do you have a tutorial to make socks without using magic loop? I found it awkward and difficult. I did a test knit with ChiaoGoo 9 inch needles and found them very pleasing. Would appreciate your advice so I may purchase sock patterns Thank you.

What do you have against toe up socks???? I find them so much easier, especially taat.

I prefer taat toe up socks for many reasons. Try on as you go, a pair when done, no more SSS, no Kitchener toe to graft, give it a try, will never go back to cuff down.

Dry mustard works great on lice I found out in high school many moons ago. My mom’s remedy from long ago as I’m now in my late 80’s. At the time I had VERY LONG hair as well so it was a nightmare.

I tried interchangeable needles only once as they came apart mid pattern and got lost in the yarn. Never again!!!

I knit all my own socks but have been doing taat toe up for years and have decided to change my system. Got your book and they all look so interesting I’m going to try the cuff down version and hope I don’t get SSS!!!!!

I like that yarn you call weird. I cannot knit cuff down anymore even though I was taught this way as a child. I started knitting taat toe up and now is the only way for me. I can check the fit all along the way to get the proper fit and there’s no concern with the cast off toe. If you are afraid of running out of yarn you can make the cuff shorter and cast off anytime. Too many pluses for me to do it any other way.

I'm a beginner. I first pair was too big, the second had a ton of errors, sock three had fewer errors and I'm on sock 4.

what would it have looked like if you had used speckial yarn in the dots and a darker yarn for the base with the dots socks?

I use bamboo marking pins for a cable needle when knitting socks.

I’ve never knit before, but I have crocheted. So, we knit 2 then purl 1. I’m confused by the purl. The purling videos I’ve watched wrap the yarn once but it looks like Summer is wrapping it a couple times. Is she doing a specific purl technique?

I find it SO helpful when you show your process for choosing colors. Auditioning them by holding them next to each other in front of the calendar, adding a little wiggle, gosh it really brings me along with your thought process. I’ve begun doing it myself and it has made selecting color combos way more fun.

Someday you can go to Iceland and wear it. By the way, don’t ever tell an Icelander that Iceland is part of Scandinavia! They won’t agree.

At 18 minutes in I ended on a knit row, No more stitches left on the one needle But my needles are facing right and not left… ?-?

Summer, please address your method for doing the SSK. It looks as though you are just moving the stitches back and forth between the needles without reorienting them. Am I seeing this incorrectly?

Have you ever done a heel flap and gusset heel on these? I think I prefer that type of heel but not sure how it would work out with the color work pattern.

I have timed myself. It takes me almost 3 minutes to knit a single round on a sock for me. I did the math, it takes me 7 hours to knit ONE sock. I don’t think anyone can EASILY knit 6 socks in 7 days. I absolutely love your socks!

thanks so much for this... I have shaky hands and I've struggled to even begin to figure out how to deal with double points and of course that has put a stop in me moving on in learning knitting. So excited to see an alternative to doing double points.
