That’s along the lines of what I’ve been dabbling with. It’s of bulk, lots of smash, lots of awesome abilities

I’ve been meaning to branch out into another game and Blood Bowl is top of that list for sure. I currently suck so content on it probably wouldn’t be helpful hahaha. Watch this space though

Slaughterborn is always a wonderful pick, so combining the Slaughter to bring more slaughter to your Slaughter makes a lot of sense :D

In a one-box format they should be totally fine. I wouldn’t bring a one box DOS list against a tuned list

Sadly, that is not the case. It stated after an attack action and dice rolls :(

@@wargamesontoast does "make this action after they are targeted by an attack action, after the hit rolls have been made" not mean you get to see the result of the attack roll before deciding whether to use the reaction? Because if it doesn't then why is it worded differently to Counter, where you have to react before the hit rolls are made?

@@wargamesontoast I think there's some benefit to not having to spend an action on a reaction until you know you really have to. Niche, but not useless, I reckon. A useful thing to have if a chaff fighter who normally isn't worth reacting to suddenly rolls 3 crits in a single attack or something like that.

You use it early and then reap the benefits all game. I would never consider spending a Wild Dice to make a Visions since you are asking for trouble then, but you can get so much value out of it otherwise. Screw competitive wisdom haha

One of the harder things to do when analysing Warcry (or any game for that matter) is separating what a warband can do with what other warbands can do in other factions. In Warcry that would be comparing things in different Grand Alliances. It’s super easy to say that Deathblow is a worse Tearing Bite…but Chaos has no access to Tearing Bite so the comparison is kinda moot. A more recent example was the Abhorrent Cardinal in Flesh Eater Courts. It has what many people considered to be a ‘worse net’ whilst ignoring the fact that Death has incredibly limited access to nets at all, so the Cardinal is disproportionately powerful in death, if that makes sense?

@@wargamesontoast it makes a lot of sense - I love the cardinal (potentially just because his model is amazing) - on the topic of abilities which are worse tearing bite, what do you think of the Guided by the Past? I don't see the Enlightened Aviarch much, and assume it's because the timing restrictions of guided by the past make it too inflexible?

@kidzurag the timing restrictions can be a pain to deal with, but the ability itself is very strong. Mind mentality when using it is - “does my opponent activate his strongest thing early every round, if yes, punish. If no, gain value elsewhere” People can often tunnel vision on the big scary thing and miss the obvious solution to the problem - kill everything around it. If you can effectively delay or slow the threat whilst using your other resources to take out chaff you can maximise and maintain your activation advantage. This then tied back into Guided By The Past as you now how much more control over when you use it as they end their Battle Round before you, forcing them to use their threat and therefore leaving them exposed. I love just thinking about Warcry and the various ways you can overcome challenges and obstacles.

That looks super solid to me!

I find the S2D Warqueen to be a smidge on the clunky side - although I do very much like her in theory. She’s a nice little blender with a solid defensive profile

The Sphiranx is WONDERFUL. Fills pretty much every role you need. Speed? Sorted. Durability? Sorted. Melee? Sorted with a blessing. Abilities? Toolbox. I often forget to mention it, partially due to the repetitive nature of constantly suggesting it. One of the most underrated allies Chaos have!

Check out the Ally rules in the Warcry Rulebook my friend. In short, you can add up to 2 heroes from other warbands in your Grand Alliance as Allies :)

@@wargamesontoast ooohhh... Didn't know about that. So I use a thunderstrike warband and add one or two questor soulsworn heroes? Bur they don't get all the thunderstrike runes, right?

How and why can you add a questor soulsworn to this warband? Can't you just only use thunderstrike dudes?

My stance on this kind of thing is that if it’s unique to one faction and not repeated elsewhere in the future, I’m ok with it. Ultimately, the reaction is powerful but flawed. Stormcast warbands are small and every reaction eats into their action pool. If they get nothing out of it due to a bad roll, then that’s a huge blow to their economy. As a player fight Ruination, baiting their reaction will become a strategy. Throw out abilities that are inconvenient but fairly easily stopped to drain their actions before dropping something more dangerous. In this situation, it’s win win. If they take the bait, you get your true plan off without a hitch. If they don’t, then all those smaller abilities go off without a hitch. I feel like the reaction forces new approaches to play, which I am always for. In addition, the oppressive nature of Ruination seems intended, which thematically, I am also all for. They lose out in other areas to make up for their unique strengths to help balance them out a smidge. Just my opinion though, not everyone is going to agree with that stance for sure, haha

@@wargamesontoast hey yeh that’s fair man I guess at the end of the day we’ll see how we go when they hit the table. A guy in my local group is keen to get a warband going so I’m keen to play against them either way - gotta love those sculpts ✌️

Similar but not quite. Named things exist (Blacktalons and Order), but Oathbound are more of a full extension of Darkoath. It’s kinda funky and I like it

I think the board-wide nature of the Terminos really sells it as a good hybrid piece. Especially when you consider the Terminos is better In combat and more survivable. He does just enough to beat out the Reclusian Prime, but I’m also a sucker for the Veritant, so they both get the boot haha

Ruination being a bit more grindark is certainly a big stonking win for sure :D

It’s an exciting time for sure. Between these, the changes to Thunderstrike, and my undying love of Questor Soulsworn, SCE are eating good

Yes but do you pay SCE points for those 12-16 wounds? The moment the meta can deal/ignore their basic stats their normal units stop to work, and they are too expensive to run something like 5 liberators, or sce version of 3 (instead of 5) chosen with weaker rules.

Bumping the Veritant to S5 on their ranged attack is always solid. Throw the remaining 10 points onto the Terminos for Crit to have a fun time

@@wargamesontoast veritant and gryph always together to do his double. Terminos and prosecutor and reclusian prosecutor. Leave a prosecutor to the end of the round move into one activated fighter and do an attack. Next round be the first to do 2 attacks and double to fly away… and maybe you can take down a hero of the opponent (sorry about my english)

Yup! She is weaker in just about every stat to balance it out, however (she is great though. Love her)

Warcry be cooking some crazy stuff at the moment, and I love it
