Next-Level Clipboard Management for Alfred: A Paste Stack For Rich Text, Files & More!
I'm excited to share with you a major update to PasteFlow, my Alfred workflow that serves as a powerful paste stack/queue! In this video, I'll walk you through how PasteFlow has evolved beyond simple text management - it now handles rich text formatting, files, images, and various types of clipboard data. You'll see how it's transformed into a versatile tool that can significantly improve your workflow, whether you're writing, designing, or just trying to stay organized.
We'll take a look at the new features and I'll share some practical ways to use them in your daily work. You'll learn about the new manual "add" feature, which is perfect for capturing quick thoughts while you're focused on other tasks. I'll demonstrate some file management capabilities, and show you how you can even save and restore complex data like color adjustments or layer settings from some of your favorite design or editing apps (using a new experimental feature: Clipboard Snapshots).
Whether you're a designer working with multiple assets, a video editor handling different clips, a writer juggling multiple text snippets, or simply someone looking for better clipboard management, these new features will open up exciting possibilities for your workflow. I also cover advanced features like external triggers and custom sounds to help you get the most out of PasteFlow.

Hi! Is it possible to search for the items by typing the text from the copied text?
@@oscarlopez8396 yes! You start typing and it filters by copied text (or in the case of files or clipboard data, by title). Then you press enter and it will paste, or press enter with a modifier for another action.
So informative! Thank you, am trying out Kando as I write this...
Thanks for the comprehensive review. I just bought MacWhisper. I like the idea of having a one-time payment, and I will likely run a local LLM to clean up the text. If I have any super-specialized needs that require online models. I may add that using API keys in the future or just subscribe to SuperWhisper.
MacWhisper is great! and I love one-time payment apps as well. Actually, that is one of the biggest reasons I also recommend SuperWhisper, because it's a one time payment without ongoing fees (and without using your own API tokens).

It’s amazing! You updated so fast. When I click this one and I am like “there are so much to learn”good job Robert 👍👍👍
Robert you are rising the level 🎉😅 again! will do my best to follow you…Thanks you so much
Great video! I only have one question. Why not use Logi Options+? I mean ofc binding an action when clicked on 2 buttons simultaneously, can't be done in Logi Options+ but most of other shortcuts/gestures can be done there. I'm thinking whether I should try BetterMouse, so I'm very curious about this.
I don't use it for the reasons I mentioned at 0:52 . While it recognizes buttons and can assign similar actions as BM, it's really heavy on system resources (has random memory leaks and often takes too much ram), it makes unnecessary online requests, it scatters files everywhere... I tried it when I first got the mouse but quickly noticed these issues - you can find many similar complaints on Reddit and other forums. It just wasn't worth the trouble for me. BetterMouse is just an option that I found integrates very well with the rest of my workflow (and has a few hacks not available on the official app). I'd say if you are happy you can stick with it. But if you want to try BetterMouse, they offer a trial version you can test out.
Great video thank you !! But raycast is far more better than Alfred. You can create so many great workflows with it. You should dive into it :)
Robert. How do you determine the priority of these utilities, which can pass to another and which can not? Through trial and error?
Yeah, trial and error, unfortunately. And nothing guarantees that it will stay like that, since developers can (and sometimes do) change this if they want to improve compatibility with other apps (though this also may end up negatively affecting some others). But this is usually an issue only for when you want key presses to be detected... I try to avoid that as much as possible. I suggested the developers of BetterMouse to incorporate the ability to run scripts but I guess they didn't think it was necessary 🤷♂.
Is whispr flow still suspect? There has been some updates, has it curbed the concerns you mentioned?
To be honest, I haven't kept up with Wispr Flow updates since my review. I follow their social media, but they haven't addressed the privacy concerns publicly. I was hoping they'd explain these issues openly, but so far, nothing. About the system resources, I think that might stay the same since they want to run on multiple platforms. I suspect it's an Electron app (though I'm not certain), which would explain the performance trade-offs. That's common when developers want to support many systems. As for the constant internet requests and login item auto-insertion issues, I can't say if they've improved. I uninstalled it after discovering these problems during testing, and I don't plan to test it again. Happy with Super Whisper for now.
@@afadingthought Thanks for your insights here. Although I have to admit to being intrigued, I also feel like playing it safe until/unless I hear a whole lot more favorable news.
This is huge, it'll definitely speed up my workflow. If I could suggest something, it would be to make customizing the result sounds a bit easier. Specifically it would be nice for the "Reset List & Add" sound to be different than the "Add" sound It would also be nice to have an option to play sound when you've pasted the final item in your queue
Suggestion taken! Thanks! I'm working on a big update now and users will be able to set custom sounds per action. This will be easier for users that use the external trigger but I think it can also be set per hotkey. Will also add a configuration option for sound when reaching the end of the list.
Hello Robert, I love your idea but I’m having some trouble getting it to work fully. On my Mac, the shortcut displays the message: “Invalid file format. Supported formats: [‘flac’, ‘m4a’, ‘mp3’, ‘mp4’, ‘mpeg’, ‘mpga’, ‘oga’, ‘ogg’, ‘wav’, ‘webm’]”. Do you have any idea what could be causing this? The Keyboard Maestro macro seems to work; the file is renamed and moved into AIMemos/history, then moved to the trash. The shortcut works without any problems when I run it directly from both my iPhone and Mac. However, when I use Just Press Record, it seems to have an issue with the file format (I’ve changed it to .wav). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!
Someone with this exact error opened an issue on Github and I outlined some troubleshooting guide, so feel free to comment there. He didn't get back to me but if you try and want to follow the conversation there I'd be happy to help. In short, when on your Mac, the whole transcription happens with the KM macro not the Shortcut, so it's very likely the culprit here in KM... but it's all about testing and finding out: github.com/ognistik/km-ai-memos/issues/3
Excellent video, thank you very much!
Hi I am hoping you can help me with something. I am trying to use Clop to convert my HEIC files on my iphone to TIFF files after I have airdropped them to my macbook for editing but I do not get a tiff option for conversion? Would love a solution for this! thanks
Clop has options to convert only to few formats, and the developer has mentioned that this app is more focused on optimization than conversion, so if you don't see the format you need it probably is not possible. You can ask directly on the Discord server: discord.gg/99vACD8D5u
wow! very detailed, came here from Reddit and was not disappointed at all! btw which software arr you using ti record the video or for the demo part looks very modern and clean...and is that klack sounds that I heard with key presses?
Hi! Thank you! The screen recording app is Screen Studio, the annotations are made with Bananotate, and the key presses come from one Alfred workflow I made (inspired by Klack, but with my own sounds, and mouse sounds): th-cam.com/video/_Xd86bBDAco/w-d-xo.html
Good shit, I've been meaning to replace Logi Options software, thanks for sharing.

Thats some good amount of information for which you did good amount of homework to present it in form a detailed video. Awesome !! Since you have good knowledge configuring these, will it be possible to make a video specific to Davinci Resolve + MX mouse, that would help a lot of people.
Thanks for the kind words - I'm happy it's helpful. I don't use DaVinci Resolve myself, so I wouldn't be the right person to make that video :) I might share some of my setup with FCPx in the future, though. Some of the same principles could still apply. Thanks again.
I was actually looking forward to you setting up better mouse and using the mouse but that never happened. This just seemed to explore the options.

Thank you so much! 🙏
👍👍👍 impressive! Thank you Robert
Hey guys! Since the release of this video, BetterMouse has pushed an update that allows you to do chording. The method that I showed you with BetterTouchTool is no longer necessary if you want to do that within BetterMouse itself. Another thing is that if you're interested in BM adding the ability to trigger scripts (for better automation with other apps), I suggest you shoot them an email as I've done. I imagine if the request was more popular maybe it'd have more possibilities of implementation. Here's a note with some of the actions I have setup for my mouse. Links to all apps mentioned are in the description of the video: gist.github.com/ognistik/c5be59002d17c5de90462cf69a278211
Amazing work! 🙌
Great review! Seems like alternatives are popping up all over the place. Talk Tastic Friday GPT Holdspeak Vibe The BIG differentiator is with context of what the user is doing or looking at or not. Would you be open to do ng another roundup??
Well, context is definitely a BIG one is. But things I also consider important is flexibility of use (some are only good at dictation), user interface, automation possilibities, and pricing. I doubt MacWhisper will ever include models like Sonnet 3.5 at a one time price like superwhisper, but if they implemented a better way to move between AI prompts when dictating, if they added clipboard and app context, if they added a timeout feature to loaded models (so it's not always so heavy on RAM while in the background), and if they had a good history feature... that's where I think competition would be getting interesting. Currently I'm happy with SuperWhisper and MacWhisper (I use them for different things). But still keeping an eye on the others that are popping here and there. Will see if anything better comes along. If anything else finds a place in my workflow or if I'm seriously considering it I'll be happy to share about it.

Great video, would you consider making one that goes into more depth on the Alfred and Keyboard Maestro elements
Thank you so much for your feedback! I think there's still a lot to explore with SuperWhisper and these apps. I'm not sure how detailed I can be about the Alfred workflow since it involves lots of scripting, and most of it just came straight out of AI because I know very little myself :) But yeah, maybe I'll think about doing some more content about the entire creation process that I got through when making one of these automations. Oh, and about the KM macros, I've tried my best to add comments on everything in there. If you have any specific questions, just let me know! I may do another video in the future explaining how to customize the voice commands section. Everything in the macros is still pretty experimental, and the app is constantly changing, so some things of the automation may need some adjustments to make them more stable. Will definitely consider sharing more. Thank you!!
@@afadingthought Understood, I'm looking for a more comprehensive user / configuration guide. I love how you're using all three apps and I've downloaded and installed them all, I just need to understand how I get from install to operational.
@@simondevine1021 I see, I get what you're saying. You mean more along the lines of how to get started with these apps or making use of their features. A very good starting point is the forums for both Alfred and Keyboard Maestro (well, and Neil's channel for SW). I think Alfred has an even better documentation on its website. Depending on what you're interested in, you can search Google for Alfred hotkeys, snippets, and universal which are the main things I use in the workflow. With Keyboard Maestro, in this specific automation, you don't need to worry too much about how to trigger it yourself (once you get past the setup I mention in README over on github) because the Alfred workflow is on charge of that for you. I find it really helpful to use external triggers with AppleScript, so I might try to make a more in depth video on that, but it's something that the normal user probably won't use unless they start running out of keyboard shortcuts. If you have any specific questions, I'm happy to help guide you. You make a great point; maybe I should do a more basic overview of these apps.
Absolutely amazing work Robert! Your workflows truly have the ability to fundamentally change how researchers and medical students like myself work with the coming advancement of AI powered tools. I have been an alfred poweruser for years it is by far my most used application on my Mac--and some of your past workflows have helped my work tremendously. But this alfred workflow integration with Superwhisper is seriously on another level when it comes to it's potential to enhance productivity and, perhaps more importantly, facilitate frictionless learning and knowledge management. I have used Superwhisper extensively for a few months but below is a description of my most important use cases and why I think Superwhisper clearly stands out from the rest of AI dictation tools: --- Whenever I am learning a new medical topic or writing any research related draft it is essential for me to be able to have notes in my own words. This always requires me recording my actual thought process instead of just typing notes myself or copying them from another source. What is amazing about Superwhisper is that it is truly the only app where the AI customization allows me to simply start recording and talk for long periods of time--sometimes 2-3 minutes with plenty of pauses for real time thinking--and still get a near perfect output of my dictation. While it isn't entirely perfect, I have a custom Superwhipser mode that basically acts as my own personal transcription post processor. It works to handle my long dictations where I am freely talking through ideas to remove filler words, grammatically format my output, only slightly edit the output in a few cases (mainly the prompt acts to use context clues of the final transcription to edit just the words that are clearly wrongly transcribed and replace them). Being able to talk through ideas and immediately have a formatted text output has been an absolute game changer for my learning and researching. --- I use Roam Research for my notetaking and knowledge management and will soon be working on a way to integrate Alfred and Superwhisper with Roam to capture notes on the fly without having to switch apps. Do you have an email where I could send you a few questions about adapting the workflows for Roam? Again, thank you so much for all of the quality time and work you have put into creating these workflows. I'll be sending a few coffees your way!!! Cheers, - Brad
Thank you, Brad, for your comment! I really appreciate it and I’m glad to hear that this is useful to you. I also use SuperWhisper to clean up my thoughts. Sometimes, I get random ideas for YT, content, or others, and during the day, I jot down a few bullet points. When I’m ready to talk, I just have those points in front of me and can speak freely of whatever comes to my mind to expand on them. I have a prompt in Super Whisper that helps me organize my thoughts, just like you mentioned. Regarding your interest in integrating SW with note-taking, I also use voice commands for this, similar to what I showed in the video for opening websites. However, I set this up using Keyboard Maestro, not Alfred. I'm not sure if you're familiar with Keyboard Maestro, but I find it better for this specific kind of task. I actually went ahead and updated the macro link over at Github last night to make sure the note-taking integration is available in case you want to check it out. I wish we could do this with Alfred alone, but we don't have a simple way to trigger AppleScripts after recording yet. Until then, we need to use workarounds like Keyboard Maestro (or Hazel), which watches folders for new files. Check out this clip where I show you how this works; it might help! preview.screen.studio/share/JTImzupY and if you have any questions feel free to reach out at yt@afadingthought.com ... If you got a Github account you can also simply open an issue on the official repo, maybe others may benefit from it: github.com/ognistik/alfred-superwhisper/issues
@@afadingthought Thank you so much for taking the time to create that video for me, Robert. It was very helpful and I'm making some progress on getting the superwhisper integrations with Roam. Additionally, if you're in the market for an equally incredible and powerful tool as Alfred, I would strongly urge you to check out Raycast. I've been using it for a few months now and their development and integration with AI along with the an incredible amount of robust plugins are making it harder and harder for me to stick with Alfred solely going forward. Raycast is the first spotlight replacement since Alfred that I've considered switching to fully. Although the learning curve for building plugins in Raycast is a little steeper than Alfred's in my opinion, I think that the benefits could potentially outweigh much more heavily down the line. Thanks again for the help and keep up the great work!
Thanks, that's very interesting. I have been using the little app Whispering for a long time. Do you know about any alternatives that might be even better? I'm on Windows by the way. This comment has of course been dictated using Whispering.
Incredible work as always Robert. You should have 100k followers.
Hi Robert ...Hope this is not a stupid question but how do I install the Alfred Workflow? Thx Nigel
You can download the latest version from here: github.com/ognistik/alfred-superwhisper/releases/latest and the links are in the bottom: i.imgur.com/E3n1Euc.png
Since it’s not an official Alfred workflow do I have to copy and paste your code into Alfred? Can you explain how to do this please 👌
@@nigelthompson8312 Hi Nigel! You don't need to paste any code. Just download the Alfred workflow file from GitHub latest release and double-click it. This will open Alfred automatically. From there, you can follow along with the setup process of the video. While this workflow isn't in the Alfred Gallery, it works just like any other workflow - simply double-click the downloaded file and you're good to go. A quick clip showing you: preview.screen.studio/share/E9WAecn5 ... At the end of this quick video, I also downloaded the Keyboard Maestro macro. Don't worry about that one if you don't have Keyboard Maestro.
amazing Robert thank you 👍
awesome👏👏👏
