    Thanks for the comprehensive review. I just bought MacWhisper. I like the idea of having a one-time payment, and I will likely run a local LLM to clean up the text. If I have any super-specialized needs that require online models. I may add that using API keys in the future or just subscribe to SuperWhisper.

      MacWhisper is great! and I love one-time payment apps as well. Actually, that is one of the biggest reasons I also recommend SuperWhisper, because it's a one time payment without ongoing fees (and without using your own API tokens).

    Thank you for this video. I learned more about SuperWhisper today. I have Superwhisper now and I love it. The Superwhisper app needs more tutorials.

      Glad it was helpful! I think an app like SuperWhisper would benefit from a more detailed and easy to navigate documentation. I'm planning to make more videos explaining how I use it when I have the chance. It's super powerful!

      @@nigelthompson8312Hi! In that part of the video I was on a mode which has the "Use Copied Text" option active. I have the Alfred workflow to auto-copy selected text (in a similar way as Super Mode does), but if not, simply copying text manually (with CMD C) a couple of seconds before or during recording is actually more reliable. Oh and of course, you need to set the LLM system prompt of that mode to actually act as an assistant and no only fix grammar or stuff like that. I actually did a switch of modes between the first couple of lines and the following command, used a keyboard shortcut for that.
      Are you on the discord server? tips like that are always popping up in there. I do plan to make a couple more videos on SuperWhisper. I emailed Neil checking if there's an affiliate program or something, just to have a bit more motivation on investing time with this haha. But, yeah, whether there is one or not I do plan to continue to share more in the future because this tool has been super helpful to me.

    Hey. Thanks for this. This this was really helpful. I'm writing this comment with Superwhisper. I was looking for a dictation app that would work with my Intel MacBook, because WisprFlow only works with Apple Silicon.

    Great review!
    Seems like alternatives are popping up all over the place.
    Talk Tastic
    Friday GPT
    Holdspeak
    Vibe
    The BIG differentiator is with context of what the user is doing or looking at or not.
    Would you be open to do ng another roundup??

    • @afadingthought
      @afadingthought  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Well, context is definitely a BIG one is. But things I also consider important is flexibility of use (some are only good at dictation), user interface, automation possilibities, and pricing. I doubt MacWhisper will ever include models like Sonnet 3.5 at a one time price like superwhisper, but if they implemented a better way to move between AI prompts when dictating, if they added clipboard and app context, if they added a timeout feature to loaded models (so it's not always so heavy on RAM while in the background), and if they had a good history feature... that's where I think competition would be getting interesting.
      Currently I'm happy with SuperWhisper and MacWhisper (I use them for different things). But still keeping an eye on the others that are popping here and there. Will see if anything better comes along. If anything else finds a place in my workflow or if I'm seriously considering it I'll be happy to share about it.

    Is whispr flow still suspect? There has been some updates, has it curbed the concerns you mentioned?

    • @afadingthought
      @afadingthought  13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      To be honest, I haven't kept up with Wispr Flow updates since my review. I follow their social media, but they haven't addressed the privacy concerns publicly. I was hoping they'd explain these issues openly, but so far, nothing.
      About the system resources, I think that might stay the same since they want to run on multiple platforms. I suspect it's an Electron app (though I'm not certain), which would explain the performance trade-offs. That's common when developers want to support many systems.
      As for the constant internet requests and login item auto-insertion issues, I can't say if they've improved. I uninstalled it after discovering these problems during testing, and I don't plan to test it again. Happy with Super Whisper for now.

      Although I have to admit to being intrigued, I also feel like playing it safe until/unless I hear a whole lot more favorable news.
